Miley Cyrus reveals she wrote new single ‘Easy Lover' for Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album

has revealed that her upcoming single 'Easy Lover' was originally intended for to sing. The star is due to release the song tomorrow as the final single ahead of her highly anticipated new album . Cyrus co-wrote the song with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who previously penned hits for Beyoncé like 'Halo', 'XO', and the singer's GRAMMY winning duet with Cyrus 'II Most Wanted'. Speaking to Zane Lowe promoting Something Beautiful, Cyrus explained that 'Easy Lover' came from the same sessions as 'II Most Wanted'. 'That one is funny because there's an ad-lib where I say 'Tell 'em B', and that was Beyoncé, because she was taking songs for her country album,' Cyrus admitted. The 'Flowers' singer explained that she first began working on the song whilst making music for her 2021 rock-influenced album Plastic Hearts, and then later adapted it match the sound of Cowboy Carter. 'I had written originally that song around Plastic Heart days and never got the production quite where I wanted it. I had written it with totally different verse but the chorus I had always loved,' she elaborated. 'That was around 2020-2021, and then I held on to it and when Beyoncé was looking for songs for her country record, I remembered that chorus and was like, 'That would work really well for country', and so I started working on that.' 'She chose 'Shotgun Rider', or what do you call it? 'II Most Wanted',' the performer revealed. 'The demo was called' Shotgun Rider'. She was like 'II Most Wanted – that's us'. I was like, 'That is so the perfect title'.' The 'Wrecking Ball' songstress, who is also releasing a film to accompany Something Beautiful which will screen in UK cinemas on 27 June, explained that Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard offered to perform on the track, thus becoming the 'B' Cyrus refers to on the ad-lib. 'I still had 'Easy Lover', and so I just was like 'What am I going to do about 'Tell em B'? And Brittany Howard's like 'I'll play the guitar on it', so that's her playing all that electric guitar,' Cyrus said. Howard also features on another track on the upcoming LP entitled 'Walk of Fame'. The pair previously performed together at the Saturday Night Live 50 celebration earlier this year. 'Easy Lover' and the album Something Beautiful are released next Friday, 30 May. Australian hip hop group Hilltop Hoods make a huge comeback as they announce first new album in six years

Hilltop Hoods are making a huge comeback. The legendary Australian hip hop group have announced they will be releasing their first new album in six years. The Aussie rap stars shared the exciting news to social media on Wednesday, revealing Fall From The Light will be released on August 1. 'This album has been an exercise in patience. Six years is a long time between albums, but there's a good reason for that,' they wrote. They added the long wait allowed the group to produce some of the best work of their career. 'There was a lot happening, in the world and in our lives. But it turns out (from my perspective anyway), that time was the album's strength, not weakness,' they said. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'We've never been so thorough, so pedantic with an album before. The result is something that's been carefully crafted with an extreme attention to detail. 'It's an album we're really proud of, and a body of music we can't wait to share with everyone.' Many of their 198,000 followers took to the comment section to express their excitement. 'That's awesome. Hopefully a tour announcement soon,' one person wrote. 'This is so cool!!! Cannot wait boys!' a second added. Hilltop Hoods have release nine studio albums since forming in Adelaide in 1994. In 2019, the band revealed they simply couldn't afford to take their show overseas despite their massive success Down Under. Member Matt Lambert told The Daily Telegraph of their elaborate Australian stage age: 'What we put on here is so big now.' 'If we took the big show overseas we would have to sell all of our houses to be able to afford it,' he added. Lambert, also known as MC Suffa, added that the group's mainstream fame had taken them from outsiders to contenders. 'We definitely don't feel as much of an outsider as we used to,' he told the paper of being a rare Aussie hip hop act. 'We used to feel almost like some kind of novelty.' The group is made up of founding members MC Suffa (Lambert) and MC Pressure (Daniel Smith) and is backed up by DJ Debris (Barry Francis). Their prior studio album, 2014's Walking Under Stars, hit number one in Australia and was certified double platinum. In February 2019, the group supported Eminem on his Australian and New Zealand concert tour. The hip-hop group has won eight ARIA Awards and are regarded as Australia's most successful homegrown hip hop act.

Mclusky review – back after 20 years, the Welsh absurdists are still funny, sweary and frantic

The early 2000s guitar rock wave which made stars out of the Strokes and the White Stripes left noisier Cardiff post-hardcore types Mclusky underground, despite a hugely acclaimed album in 2002's Mclusky Does Dallas. Still, two decades after their acrimonious split, the trio's fourth album The World Is Still Here and So Are We – their first in 21 years – is getting rave reviews and they're playing to packed houses. 'Three songs in and we've already broken a guitar string,' sighs singer and guitarist Andrew 'Falco' Falkous, insisting: 'That's not a badge of honour. It's a technical problem.' The frontman's ongoing struggles with tinnitus and hyperacusis mean he now has to perform wearing noise-cancelling headphones and needs a plexiglass sound barrier around Jack Egglestone's drum kit, but with new bassist Damien Sayall thrashing away like his life depended on it they've lost none of their intensity. Their furious songs suggest a British Jesus Lizard or Fugazi, but the reflective She Will Only Bring You Happiness or hypnotically groovy new People Person take them somewhere else entirely. Meanwhile, Falco's dizzying imagery and teeth-gritted delivery suggest a brilliantly absurdist wordsmith and wit in the tradition of Pere Ubu's David Thomas or the Fall's Mark E Smith. 'Your heart's gone the colour of Coca-Cola', the singer yells at one point. 'Your mother was a ballpoint pen thief' at another. When he cries 'I'm just a normal man!' with the music as taut as a stretched elastic band, it's dazzling. Back in the day, singles with titles such as Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues or the superb Alan Is a Cowboy Killer were never destined to go Top 20, but are now greeted like old friends, with newbies such as Way of the Exploding Dickhead running them close already. Perhaps a world which has made the noisy likes of Idles and Fontaines DC stars will prove more receptive to Mclusky this time, but whatever happens, it's good to have them back. At EartH, London, 29 May, then touring.

Radio 1's Big Weekend gets under way as Tom Grennan fans arrive in Liverpool

Update: Date: 14:28 BST Title: Show a Little Bit of Love for tonight's headliner Tom Grennan Content: Its been a busy year for Bedford-born singer Tom Grennan. After narrowly missing out on last-year's coveted Christmas number one he's released a new single, Boys Don't Cry. Tom has also encouraged mental health discussions at the BBC's Make a Difference awards, and stumped up the last of the money needed to build a statue of former Coventry City players George Curtis and John Sillett outside the home of his beloved Sky Blues. But it's only going to get bigger - and busier - for Grennan. His new album, Everywhere I Went, Led Me to Where I Didn't Want to Be, comes out in August. He told the Mirror earlier this year the album would have a 'different sound', saying he's 'looking forward to see if people love it or not'. Three singles have been released from the new album already, so there's probably a fairly high chance we'll be hearing some of the new material on the stage tonight. This is Grennan's third time playing the Big Weekend, following appearances in both 2022 and 2023. Update: Date: 14:20 BST Title: How can I tune in to BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend?
