DEAR DEIDRE: THANK you for saving my relationship after I became convinced my girlfriend had cheated on me when I developed an STI.
The burning and itching all around my privates was so distracting that I knew it didn't bode well. Then I started to have trouble going to the loo.

Dr Google diagnosed me and my mind went into meltdown.
My girlfriend had been on a 'girl's week away' to Ibiza the month before and when she got home she was too tired for sex.
Thinking back I realised we'd only had sex once since her return and she didn't seem that into it then.
I put two and two together and came up with seven.
I knew I had been faithful the entire time and so in my head there was only one logical explanation; not only had she cheated, but she hadn't used protection and had put both our sexual health at risk.
I was furious and on the verge of leaving her. Distraught, I had already moved out to the spare room.
Completely baffled, she kept asking why I was so angry and what was going on.
At that point I felt so let down by her - we'd been together for three years and I was considering asking her to marry me. I couldn't even bear to look at her.
Then, I wrote to you, and thank goodness I did.
You told me to get to the sexual health clinic so that I could get any necessary treatment and information, you reassured me the staff would be respectful and considerate.
Spotting the signs your partner is cheating
Then you explained to me that there are some STI's that lay dormant, for years even, which if relevant in my case could explain my recent symptoms within a committed relationship.
I went to the clinic, discovered I had genital warts and the doctor confirmed that the virus (HPV) could have lain dormant and undetected in either myself or my girlfriend.
Taking a deep breath, I explained to my girlfriend why I had been so upset and cross.
She initially felt very let down by me, not just because I had assumed the worst, but because I didn't talk to her.
I got in contact again with you and you coached me on how to reconnect with her and show her I really wanted to change.
Six months on since I initially wrote to you in my desperate state, and I am very happy to say she said 'yes' when I asked her to marry me.
So, thank you.
From both of us.
DEIDRE SAYS: I'm so pleased you contacted me. By confiding your worries, I was able to explain this STI could have lain dormant in your or your girlfriend's system for years - to a time that predated you meeting each other even.
It would have been such a shame to end a good relationship because you had jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Your story also highlights why it's so valuable to communicate well. By keeping everything locked up your problems were only magnified.
You aren't the first person to write in with the completely wrong impression of what is really going on.
My support pack Looking After Your Relationship explains how to improve your communication skills.

It's a "natural treatment against hair and scalp problems, hair loss, thinning or brittle hair, dandruff and dryness". The product description reads: "Used for centuries to stimulate the circulation, rosemary helps restore the health of the scalp, while stonecrop and horseradish extracts work together to discourage microbial development and reduce inflammation." The benefits are said to be: Strengthens hair, invigorates scalp and nourishes hair roots Reduces hair loss and promotes hair growth Uplifting rosemary scent, suitable for men and women Dermatologically tested, certified natural hair care Free from synthetic preservatives, fragrances, colourants or raw materials derived from mineral oils But what do customers think? Giving if five stars, Lesley Anne said: "I've been using this product day and night for nearly three months and I can't get over the difference in my hair. I have typically thin, short hair but I recently noticed more thinning than usual so I gave this a go! 'I'm in shock at how well this has worked in a month' shoppers praise budget Amazon buy for curing their hair loss & it's currently on sale "I wish you could post pictures here because the difference is honestly unbelievable. I'm not concerned about tying up my hair anymore, no it looks full and thick. Not surprised Weleda are still selling this product, it is absolute gold!" Yasemin's review read: "It definitely stimulated new hair growth around my temples which is where I apply the tonic. pleasant smell and not too runny/oily once applied. Recommend." Veronika also had great things to say about the tonic: "The product is perfect, it actually helps to grow a new hairs and keep the hair healthy." Hair re-growth FAQs Anabel Kingsley, Consultant Trichologist and Brand President at Philip Kingsley spoke exclusively to Fabulous. How long does it take for hair to grow back? Hair grows, on average, half an inch a month. You cannot speed this up. Do rosemary oil and scalp massages work? Oils do not promote hair growth. In terms of rosemary oil, the current trend stems from one small study carried out on 50 men in 2015. No women were involved, and the study compared the effects of 2 per cent minoxidil to Rosemary oil. 2 per cent minoxidil doesn't do much for male pattern hair loss anyway, so the results were not very impressive. Oils do serve a purpose in conditioning hair treatments though. They help add shine and smooth the hair cuticle to lock-in moisture and improve combability. Scalp massages alone won't cure hair loss, but it can help relax you, aid in lymphatic drainage, exfoliate and help topicals penetrate. Are there any products or foods/vitamins you recommend someone using or eating to help with hair regrowth? To support healthy hair regrowth, if you are experiencing hair thinning we'd recommend our Density Preserving Scalp Drops clinically proven to help slow hair loss with continued daily use within three months. Telogen effluvium (hair shedding) due to nutritional deficiencies can often be simply treated with changes to your diet, and nutritional supplements such as our specially formulated Density Healthy Hair Complex and Density Amino Acid Booster. Iron and Ferritin (stored iron) in red meat, dried apricots and dark, leafy greens. Vitamin B12 in animal products and fortified plant-based foods. Protein from oily fish, lean meat, cottage cheese, tofu, nuts, chickpeas, and beans. However, there may be an underlying cause for their hair loss and rather than this being masked by using an off-the-shelf product, they should be encouraged to seek the advice of a specialist such as a Trichologist. However, not everyone who has used it raves about it. Karen explained: "Only half way through first bottle and am squinting my head brain eyes trying to see a difference and nothing!" Another also failed to see new hair growth: "Being a huge fan of Weleda products, I was so excited to try this, but sadly I didn't notice any difference. I used it every morning and night for around 4/5 months (I purchased two bottles)." What's the evidence behind rosemary oil for hair growth? Rosemary oil is believed to stimulate hair follicles and improve scalp circulation, potentially leading to hair growth. It's often used as a natural alternative to minoxidil, a medication used for the treatment of high blood pressure and pattern hair loss, with some studies suggesting it may be equally effective. While more research is needed to fully understand its benefits, many individuals report positive results from using rosemary based products for hair growth.

The former Jambos star, who is set to return for a new series of his Sacked in the Morning podcast, told BBC co-host Amy Irons: "I was struggling to walk and breathe at times, if I was going up any hills, "It had to be done. They offered me more stents, something like five, and I was like, 'not for me'. "The other option was the triple bypass and it's been a good decision. I'm feeling really good." Dean Saunders, Viv Anderson, Andy Cole, Alistair Campbell and Si Ferry are among those who will appear on the new series of the podcast. He has opened up on the ordeal in the days which followed the operation, saying: "I couldn't sleep - I was on about 14 different pills. I had delirium. I had no idea what was going on. Scotland to be hit with rare weather phenomenon ‘thunder fever' – and it's bad news for hay fever sufferers

Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg says this weekend's weather could be particularly bad for those with hay fever HIGH ALERT Scotland to be hit with rare weather phenomenon 'thunder fever' – and it's bad news for hay fever sufferers Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SCOTS are bracing for thunderstorms this weekend but hayfever sufferers are in for a tough time as experts warn of a phenomenon called "thunder fever". Thunder, lightning and heavy downpours are forecast for tomorrow - with a yellow weather warning covering most of the country from midnight tonight until 6pm on Saturday. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 This weekend's thunderstorms could cause a rare phenomenon called 'thunder fever' Credit: Getty And Scots should look out the antihistamines in advance as it can trigger "thunder fever". Scientists believe that during a thunderstorm, pollen grains absorb moisture and split into smaller fragments and create a "super pollen". Airborne allergens expert Max Wiseberg says this weekend's weather could be particularly bad for those with hay fever. He said: "Warm, sunny weather in June means higher pollen counts. Which is what we are seeing this week, with high pollen counts currently in south and central Scotland. "So there is more pollen in the air for hay fever sufferers to deal with. Everyone can tolerate a certain amount of pollen, known as the 'trigger level', but once this is reached symptoms start to occur. "So more pollen means that more people's hay fever will be triggered and symptoms will be worse for some.' While rain usually clears the air of pollen, thunderstorms can ironically exacerbate hay fever. Wiseberg says that no one is completely sure of how "thunder fever" works, but research suggests that the humidity breaks pollen into more allergenic particles. Storms can also bring pollen down from higher altitudes and whip up ground-level pollen. Wiseberg said: "There has been quite a lot of research and according to a report in The European Respiratory review, humidity breaks pollen grains into smaller allergenic particles. So one pollen grain becomes two, which instantly raises the pollen count. But these new pollen grains also turn into a kind of 'super pollen' which appears to be more allergenic than normal pollen, causing more severe reactions in sufferers. hayfever recommendations from a boots pharmacist 'Storms cause great movements in the air, both bringing pollen grains down which might have otherwise risen above head height out of harm's way, and whipping up pollen grains near the ground. "And don't think that living in the city will spare you from this either; the thunderstorm can pick all this pollen up and carry it for miles before dumping it at head height in the city." What is the best way of combating this? Wiseberg recommends preventing pollen entry by creating a physical barrier with an organic barrier. He said: "One of the best ways of dealing with the pollen is to prevent it getting into your body in the first place. "Creating a physical barrier to the pollen with an organic allergen barrier balm such as HayMax, around the nostrils and bones of the eyes, helps keep pollen out. "HayMax has been proven to trap over a third of pollen particles before they enter the body." Don't double up the dose of your antihistamines Wiseberg advises against taking two antihistaminesor two steroid nassal sprays together. He said: "There are rules: never take two antihistamines together, never take two steroid nasal sprays together, and consult your pharmacist or doctor about it if you are already taking another medication. "I suggest that your ideal Hay Fever First Aid Kit will consist of one or more natural products such as an allergen barrier balm to help keep the pollen out, only one antihistamine to help deal with symptoms, only one steroid nasal spray to help clear nasal symptoms and eye drops, to help reduce itchy, watering, swollen eyes.'
