Manhattan Shooting Shuts Down NFL Office For At Least 10 Days

Goodell told employees in the email to 'plan to work remotely at least through the end of next week,' saying the office would remain closed until staffers could safely return.
Monday's shooting wounded an NFL employee, who was reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
Goodell said the employee was 'seriously injured' and is now recovering, noting the NFL believes all other employees are otherwise safe and accounted for.
The shooter, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura, opened fire on people in the building's lobby, later rode the elevator to the 33rd floor and shot another person before shooting himself in the chest, according to law enforcement.
New York Mayor Eric Adams told reporters the gunman was likely targeting the NFL office but 'appeared to have gone to the wrong floor.'

A note found on Tamura after the shooting claimed he was suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a condition contact sport players and military members are susceptible to through repeated head impacts. One line in the note said, 'CTE study my brain please. I'm sorry,' according to NBC News, which reported another line from the note said the NFL 'concealed the dangers to our brains to maximize profits.' Tamura was not an NFL player, though he did play football as a running back at Golden Valley High School in California. Authorities said Tamura suffered from mental health issues.
Among the four killed in the shooting were 36-year-old police officer Didarul Islam, 44-year-old Blackstone real estate executive Wesley LePatner and 46-year-old Aland Etienne, a security guard. The name of the other victim, who worked for real estate firm Rudin Management, has not been publicly disclosed. The New York Police Department said Tamura could be seen on surveillance footage holding an M4 rifle during the shooting and that he had a 'documented mental health history.' Micah Parsons' dad once named Chiefs, Steelers, Lions as preferred trade destinations
With Micah Parsons officially requesting a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, an old clip of his father, Terrence Parsons, talking about preferred destinations for his son in a hypothetical trade scenario has resurfaced. During an appearance on the "Life in the Stands" podcast in December 2024, Parsons' dad stated that his preferred trade landing spots for the superstar edge rusher are the Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Detroit Lions. "I know Pittsburgh fans are like, 'whoa,' but I'm sorry, him [Micah Parsons] and [T.J.] Watt together would be like cheating," Terrence Parsons said. "Him and [Aidan] Hutchinson together in Detroit would be like cheating. I love it. Kansas City, that's who they are right now." Parsons requested a trade out of Dallas due to the franchise's lack of communication with his agent. The 26-year-old's relationship with the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones seems to be completely destroyed. Dallas has no plans of trading Parsons, but if they can't agree on a long-term extension with him, they may be forced to move him at some point. Parsons' father's landing spots for the four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher are bold. Adding Parsons to Kansas City's defense would be lethal, while pairing the disgruntled Cowboy with Watt or Hutchinson in Detroit would also be pretty much unstoppable. However, none of the teams Parsons' dad listed as preferred spots have the money to sign Parsons to a record-breaking extension. The Chiefs are slated to have negative $61 million in cap space next offseason, and the Steelers already have two expensive edge rushers in Watt and Alex Highsmith. As for the Lions, the team must prioritize getting an extension done with Hutchinson first, which likely takes them out of the running for Parsons. It's possible that Parsons lands with one of three destinations his dad spoke about during a podcast appearance last year, as all three franchises are playoff contenders, and two are legitimate Super Bowl contenders in Kansas City and Detroit. However, it remains to be seen whether any have the money to sign Parsons to a new deal after trading valuable picks for him while also keeping their core together. Bengals officially finalize new lease to keep team in Cincinnati's Paycor Stadium through 2036
The Cincinnati Bengals are officially staying put. The team announced Friday that it has come to an agreement with Hamilton County to keep the Bengals in the area for another decade. The new lease agreement keeps the Bengals in Cincinnati's Paycor Stadium for another decade, with the deal running through 2036. The deal also includes 10 option years to potentially continue the agreement through 2046. In a statement, Bengals executive vice president Katie Blackburn wrote that the new lease "solidifies the future of the Bengals in Cincinnati, our beloved home, for many years to come."
