Jade Thirlwall teases Little Mix reunion

News.com.au26-05-2025

As she performed her first ever solo show at BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Liverpool on Sunday night, the hitmaker belted out Little Mix's 2018 hit Wasabi. During her set on the New Music Stage, Jade hinted that there will be a future reunion for the girl band as she changed the lyrics to one of their songs. As she sang the famous line, "I bet they gonna break up," Thirlwall shouted, "It's a hiatus!" The singer found fame with Little Mix on the X Factor in 2011, alongside Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock but the group split in 2022 after Nelson's exit from the band.

BBC-owned Britbox renews big bet on the British niche viewer

The BBC is betting big on people paying more for first-run British content, adding three live channels and new shows in a relaunch of Britbox a year after taking full control of the niche streaming service and months after pulling channels from Foxtel. Britbox is vastly expanding the number of shows it has, adding three new live broadcasts – BBC First, BBC Entertain and BBC Select – and upgrading its user interface in the biggest overhaul since it arrived in Australia in 2020. It is hoping die-hard fans of British shows will pay to watch new seasons first on the platform.

Brooklyn Beckham and wife Nicola Peltz hire Prince Harry, Meghan Markle crisis lawyer to ‘repair' public image

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz have turned to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's former lawyer for help managing their reputation, according to a report. Amid an ongoing family rift with Brooklyn's famous parents, Victoria and David Beckham, the couple has brought together a high-profile legal team to help manage their public image. The pair, who tied the knot in 2022, have hired British lawyer Jenny Afia, the Daily Mail reports. Afia, a solicitor at the renowned Schillings law firm, counts the Duke and Duchess of Sussex among her many high-profile clients. The development has reportedly sparked 'much amusement' among insiders, sources said, due to the well-documented rift between the Beckhams (senior) and the Sussexes. 'You couldn't really make it up, first Brooklyn and Nicola cosy up together and realise they have quite a lot in common, and then all of a sudden they have enlisted the help of the Sussexes' long-serving lawyer,' an insider told the outlet. 'Nicola and Brooklyn are getting fed up of stories running they don't like. Nicola likes to control everything, and they have taken this rather drastic action.' 'For the Beckhams, the irony isn't lost. They fell out with Meghan and Harry after they accused them of leaking stories- they were furious and Brooklyn knows that. The two couples are very close indeed,' the source added. It's believed that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, offered the recommendation to Brooklyn and Nicola after they had met at a dinner party in Montecito, California last month. 'While it was an intimate gathering, there were several additional guests, including VIPs and film executives,' a source told People last month. 'Brooklyn and Nicola had a wonderful time and found Harry and Meghan to be particularly kind, caring and generous.' The Invictus Games founder and his wife were once close to Victoria Beckham, 51, and her soccer star husband David, 50. Posh and Becks attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018. But in November 2024, it was reported that Markle and the former Spice Girls member were 'no longer on speaking terms.' Brooklyn, 26, is also rumoured to have been at odds with his family for months — to the point where he and Nicola, 30, skipped David's 50th birthday bash in London in May. Victoria, sons Romeo 22, Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13, were all present at David's star-studded bash at a London restaurant.
