View cutters, roads & drains: Revamp for Bandhwari landfill soon

Gurgaon: A day after the Swachh Survekshan rankings were announced, MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Friday inspected the Bandhwari landfill site. Given the site's deteriorating condition, MCG intends to install view cutters and take steps for leachate control by constructing drains. On the commissioner's directives, a new estimated proposal of Rs 2.5 crore has been prepared, which includes the construction of a 15m wide and 400m long cement concrete road alongside the view cutter at the landfill site. Construction of a road will facilitate smooth movement of the trucks carrying waste. Along with the road, the construction of a reinforced cement concrete drain is also proposed to facilitate smooth truck movement and control leachate flow. Considering the amount of leachate at the site, MCG commissioner said that a new proposal costing Rs 63 lakh was prepared to transport leachate to the sewage treatment plant, with the tender process to begin soon.
