Edinburgh Seafood Festival returns to the capital with bumper line up and oyster giveaway
Edinburgh's Seafood festival is returning to St James' Quarter this May.
It will take place at the city centre shopping centre from Saturday, May 3, to Monday, May 5, with those behind the event describing it as a 'celebration of Scottish seafood.'
Live cooking demonstrations, masterclasses and intimate supper clubs will be on offer alongside a range of special seafood dishes.

The Seafood Stage will present interactive cooking demonstrations including Sandy Browning (Ka Pao), Jimmy Lee (Salt & Chilli Oriental), Betsy Anderson (Amazon Prime's World Cook Champion 2024) and Teddy Lee (Maki & Ramen) as well as mixology masterclasses with Port of Leith Distillery, The Alchemist and The Botanist.
The Oysterman will also host a Oyster giveaway with 100 oysters to be handed out on Saturday and Sunday.

A pop-up produce market on level one will also look to showcase delicacies from an array of local artisans including Belhaven Smokehouse and Lind & Lime.
Little Plaza will host a family zone on Level three with crafts, activities, magic and music ensuring there's something for all the family across the event.
Children can enjoy 'under the sea' face painting and have the chance to meet a mermaid on Saturday.

The Seafood Supper Clubs will again take place in Miele's Experience Centre kitchen at the Quarter.

The jackpot is an estimated £208 million and would be the largest prize the UK has seen, National Lottery operator Allwyn said. Actor recently discovered that three Scottish brothers — Ewan, Jamie, and Lachlan Maclean — are attempting a jaw-dropping feat of physical and mental grit. They are rowing a world-record-breaking 9000 miles across the Pacific Ocean from Lima, Peru, to Sydney, Australi,a with no stops, no support crew, no engine, and no sail, all to raise money and awareness for clean water projects in Madagascar. According to Glasgow PR firm Story Shop, Wahlberg recently made a surprise video call to the brothers to tell them how inspirational they are and what a great film this will eventually make. "I'm so inspired by you guys. You're badasses doing something no one else would even think of," said Wahlberg on the call. "This could be a movie. The best films I've done are based on true stories — ordinary people doing extraordinary things. No way I'd row an ocean, but I'd play one of you guys in a movie." The brothers are 54 days into their trip, and they are battling the elements, a broken watermaker, and a faulty autohelm. You're living out a sense of purpose – combining passion with impact. That's rare, and it's humbling to watch. People need to hear about what you're doing. What you guys are doing for such an amazing cause, and how hard you're willing to sacrifice yourself and your own well-being for the good of others, is so inspiring. The Maclean brothers are on a 28-foot carbon fiber boat called the Rose Emily, named in honor of their late sister. They row in two-hour shifts and have been living on freeze-dried meals and desalinated water. They expect the journey to take more than 100 days. "It's been much harder than we expected," said Ewan, who left his job as a Dyson engineer to help design and build the boat. "But today we had dolphins surfing near the boat, and that lifted our spirits — and then we hear we get to speak to Mark Wahlberg, so spirits are absolutely through the roof. We are such big fans, and speaking to him is like a dream come true for us. It's so cool… but it's bloody surreal." Lachlan added: "We're all operating on such little sleep that we thought it all could have been a hallucination." The brothers previously set three world records in rowing the Atlantic in 2020. They rowed for 35 days on a 3000-mile trip from the Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean. They set records for the first three brothers to row any ocean and the fastest and youngest trio to ever row the Atlantic Ocean. This current trip is triple the distance.
