Bundesliga star ‘has said yes' to Atlético Madrid move

Yahoo29-07-2025
A member of the midfield ranks at Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart has given the green light to a summer move to Spanish heavyweights Atlético Madrid.
That's according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Enzo Millot as the player in question.
The name of attacking midfielder Millot has emerged as an altogether prominent one in the headlines at Atlético Madrid over recent days.
This comes after word was forthcoming that, amid an ongoing search for reinforcements in the middle of the park, the Frenchman has emerged as a leading Rojiblancos target.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media on Tuesday is anything to go by, then interest in a joining of forces between the parties is very much mutual.
As per a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano:
'Enzo Millot has said yes to Atlético Madrid project and personal terms are fully agreed. Negotiations underway with Stuttgart to get the green light under €23m clause.'

Mallorca finalising loan deal with Leeds for Mateo Joseph

Leeds United are finalising a loan deal with Mallorca for Mateo Joseph. Mallorca have made a loan proposal, without a permanent option, to Leeds and Joseph. According to sources close to the player, who spoke anonymously to protect relationships, he has agreed to the move and is awaiting the green light from Leeds. Advertisement Manager Daniel Farke said the 21-year-old had requested to leave Elland Road for a Spanish club last month. According to Farke, Joseph declined to travel to Sweden or Germany with the squad for pre-season preparation in July. The Spain under-21 striker then made it clear to his manager he saw his future in his homeland, with Real Betis and Girona among the clubs interested in him. However, Leeds rejected loan offers which included pre-agreed purchase options attached to them. With three years still to run on Joseph's contract, United see no urgency in selling a striker they see potential in. United will be happy to see Joseph playing in La Liga — Mallorca finished 10th last season — before returning to Thorp Arch next summer for a fresh assessment on where he is at with his development. As for incomings, Leeds are continuing to pursue full-backs, No 10s, wingers and strikers, and Liverpool's Ben Doak is one winger Leeds have discussed. Sources close to the player and Anfield indicated United have expressed interest in the 19-year-old. Liverpool rejected offers around £20million for the winger in January and value him around the same amount now. If they do not receive an offer in that range, they are happy to retain him as a squad option. Spot the pattern. Connect the terms Find the hidden link between sports terms Play today's puzzle

Barcelona strips Ter Stegen of captaincy for refusing to sign medical report

MADRID — Barcelona has temporarily stripped goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen of the captaincy over his refusal to sign a medical report about his back injury. The club said Thursday that central defender Ronald Araujo will act as first-team captain until further notice. 'Following the disciplinary proceedings opened against player Marc-André ter Stegen, and until this matter is definitively resolved, the club, by mutual agreement with the sporting direction and the coaching staff, has decided to temporarily withdraw his role as first-team captain,' Barcelona said in a statement. The club had opened a disciplinary proceeding against the goalkeeper on Tuesday after discrepancies about the recovery time for the lower back surgery that Ter Stegen successfully underwent last week. Barcelona needed him to sign the injury report so it could be sent to the Spanish league in order to clear some salary-cap space and allow the club to more easily register other players without breaching financial fair play rules. Ter Stegen said ahead of the surgery that the recovery time would be about three months. The club did not give an official timetable for the recovery process, saying only that the operation was 'successful" and that 'his recovery will determine when he can return.' Depending on the length of the recovery process, Barcelona could clear a percentage of Ter Stegen's salary from its cap, making more room to add other players to the squad. The league has to evaluate the report before approving the official time of recovery. The club signed Espanyol goalkeeper Joan García in June. Its other goalkeepers are veteran Wojciech Szczęsny and Iñaki Peña. Ter Stegen met briefly with Barcelona officials this week, according to Spanish media. The 33-year-old German goalkeeper missed nearly all of last season because of a ruptured tendon in his knee, and in 2023 he missed about two months because of another back operation. Peña and the 35-year-old Szczęsny started in place of Ter Stegen last season. Barcelona, the defending Spanish league champion, arrived back in Spain on Tuesday after completing a preseason tour in Asia. ___ AP soccer:
