Jitesh Sharma Wins Vidarbha Pro T20 Final With A Six, Cool Celebration Goes Viral
Jitesh Sharma came clutch again, this time in the Vidarbha Pro T20 League final by winning NECO Master Blaster the trophy with a six.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma continued his dream run in T20 cricket on Sunday, by helping NECO Master Blaster defeat Pagariya Strikers by seven wickets to clinch the Vidarbha Pro T20 League trophy at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.
Chasing a target of 179, Vedant Dighade and Adhyan Daga started with a 35-run stand for the Master Blaster before Daga was dismissed for 22 off 16 balls. Aryam Meshram then joined Dighade, and the pair put on 90 runs together before the latter was dismissed for 42 off 26 balls.
In came the in-form captain Jitesh at number five, smashing three sixes and a four with a strike-rate of 272.72 to apply the finishing touches. With six required off 14 balls, he stepped down and smacked spinner K Salve over the head to seal the victory and kick off the celebrations. Dighade remained unbeaten with 80 off 52 balls.
As his teammates ran towards him, Jitesh gestured to them to run past and celebrate on their own, before nonchalantly trying to walk off. However, the team's sports therapist caught and rammed into him. Watch the video here:

This was the second consecutive instance of Jitesh finishing a match like that. In the semi-final against Bharat Rangers, his team needed six runs to win on the last ball and he came on the winning side, ending with a 22-ball 46 to his name. That only added to his image of a brilliant finisher, having helped RCB win the IPL 2025 title with multiple such knocks, including a stellar 85* against Lucknow Super Giants and a 24 in the final.
In the first innings, Pagariya Strikers started with Dhruv Shorey and MD Faiz, but were reduced to 27/3 in 3.3 overs. MD Faiz scored 19 off 12 balls, while Shorey managed just 6 off 5 balls. Shivam Deshmukh anchored the innings with 82 off 45 balls, supported by Pushpak Gujar (25 off 26 balls), Yash Kadam (16 off 12 balls), and Vishesh Tiwari (23* off 15 balls), posting a total of 178/7 in 20 overs.
Earlier in the day, the Orange Tigresses defeated the Nagpur Titans by 16 runs to win the Vidarbha Pro T20 League trophy in the women's draw.

'They have said goodbye to the wrong format': Ex-India cricketer's bold take on Rohit, Virat Test retirement
As Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are stuck in the period of inactivity, a former India cricketer has come to opine about their situation. read more Having bid adieu to the T20Is and the Test cricket, and with the Bangladesh ODI series called off, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are trapped in a period of inactivity. The two haven't indulged in any cricketing action since the culmination of the IPL 2025, leaving fans unsatisfied and eager to see them back on the field. As ODIs do not take place as regularly as they once used to, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are not expected to don the Indian jersey again before October, when Team India will tour Australia for 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. Paying heed to the situation of Kohli and Sharma, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has opined that the two exited the wrong format. According to Chopra, Kohli and Sharma should have said goodbye to the ODI format rather than the Tests. It should be noted that both the batters announced their respective retirements from the longest format of the game in May, ahead of the squad selection for the England tour. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Chopra says Rohit-Virat should have exited ODIs instead of Tests Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra said, 'The truth is that they have said goodbye to the wrong format. They had left T20Is after winning the T20 World Cup, but the story might have been different had they continued to play Tests and said goodbye to ODIs. India played only six ODIs in 12 months before the Champions Trophy." Chopra puts substance to his opinion by stating that playing 6 Tests in a calendar year offers more exposure of international cricket than 6 ODIs. 'There is a possibility that you might play only six Tests in a year, but even if it is only six Tests, it's 30 days of cricket. If only six ODIs are played, it's just six days of cricket over a period of time. It will be more than 100 days from your last IPL match to the next ODI you will play. You are not playing at all. You are not practising at all," he added. Chopra also stated that the long gaps between the ODI series make it challenging for the players to maintain form, fitness, and commitment to diet. 'A three-match series gets over in seven to eight days. Then the next one would be after three months. Gaps are just incredibly huge, and you won't play first-class cricket in between. It's true that had they continued playing Test cricket and left ODIs, staying in the groove would have been a lot easier," he said. Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma hold an outstanding record in the ODIs. Sharma, who is still the captain of the side, has played 272 matches and has stockpiled 11,168 runs at an average of 48.76. He has notched 32 centuries and 59 fifties in his career, and not to forget, he holds the record of scoring the highest ever individual score, 264, in the history of ODI cricket. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is arguably the greatest ever ODI batter. He has amassed 14,181 runs in 302 matches an average of 57.88, with 51 centuries and 74 fifties. Given the numbers they have produced, it seems like they still have a lot to offer to the 50-over format.

After a brief break from cricket, he has shifted focus back on training to regain fitness ahead of the Australia ODIs in October. Rohit Sharma has resumed training ahead of the Australia ODIs.(Instagram/@rohitsharma45) The last time he played for India was in the Champions Trophy, where he led the Men in Blue to the title triumph with a win over New Zealand in the final. Meanwhile, he has not officially stepped down from the ODI captaincy position, but speculations are rife that the BCCI might give him the big responsibility to Shubman Gill, who recently took over the charge of the Test team. Meanwhile, a report in Dainik Jagran claims that Rohit could soon call time on his ODI career as well. With the Bangladesh series in August now cancelled, India's next 50-over outing will be an away series against Australia from October 19 to 25. The publication further reported that both Rohit and Virat Kohli may bring the curtains down on their ODI journeys after the Australia tour. However, Rohit's return to training suggests he has no intention of stepping away from the 50-over format anytime soon. Rohit went on a break in the UK with his family after the completion of the IPL, where he also went to watch the fifth Test between India and England at the Oval, London. He recently returned to India and, a couple of days later, was spotted in a Mumbai gym, resuming his training with Nayar. Rohit Sharma posted an Instagram story with Abhishek Nayar in a gym.(Instagram/@rohitsharma45) Abhishek Nayar named head coach of WPL team Off the field, Rohit and Nayar share a long-standing bond that has stood the test of time. The former India coach has been a constant source of support for Rohit, especially during challenging phases in his career. After being left out of the 2011 ODI World Cup squad, Rohit turned to Nayar for guidance, and even today, he continues to train with him to sharpen his skills and maintain peak fitness. In the 2025 IPL, Rohit endured a slow start but bounced back strongly, later crediting Nayar for his resurgence in a heartfelt social media post. Nayar, who was removed as the Indian men's team assistant coach recently, less than a year into the job, recently joined UPW after the franchise parted ways with Jon Lewis, who had been in charge of the team for the last three seasons. The former Indian cricketer also re-joined the KKR camp in the middle of IPL 2025 after getting sacked by the BCCI.
