Dubai to hold Pakistan Independence Day celebration on August 10
Sahir Ali Bagga, singer and composer, Natasha Baig, Sufi-rock artist from Hunza and Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, poet and visual artist, are set to perform at the event.
Pakistani film star Humayun Saeed and former national cricket team captain Sana Mir are also slated to attend.
Organised by Emirates Loves Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), the event titled 'Jashn-e-Azaadi Pakistan 2025' will be held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City.
The event will take place from 11am to 11pm, offering a full day of cultural activities, entertainment, and community engagement, added the report.
UAE assures full cooperation on easing visa process for Pakistanis
The event is set to highlight the richness of Pakistan's culture, heritage, and artistic traditions. Organisers describe the celebration as a tribute to Pakistan's past, present, and future, and a day of unity for the UAE-based Pakistani community.
Guests in attendance are slated to include: Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE; Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan; and Dr Faisal Ikram, PAD President.
It will also comprise of an awards ceremony where prominent Pakistani individuals and community leaders will be honoured for their contributions. The awards will be presented by Sheikh Nahyan.
The event has free entry for all.

Chaos mars grand musical concert in Hyderabad
Amid disarray and mayhem, the grand musical concert organised by the Sindh government to mark Independence Day and Marka-e-Haq went off late Friday night in Hyderabad. Tens of thousands of citizens had thronged Rani Bagh, the city's largest yet underdeveloped recreational venue, hoping to enjoy captivating performances by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sanam Marvi, and other renowned artists. Distant parking areas forced many to walk over a kilometre to reach the venue, yet spirits remained high - until rowdy crowds breached the enclosures designated for families. The bamboo fences separating these zones were broken down by groups of young men, resulting in altercations and incidents of harassment, including attacks on media workers. "We came here expecting a splendiferous night of music and enjoyment, but what we encountered was a wild crowd poised to misbehave with women," said Irfan Kazi, a resident of Qasimabad. He described how the mob, allegedly allowed free entry, tried to force their way toward the stage, shoving aside those already there. "It is one of the worst events," a young woman complained. "Women are being insulted, and their dupattas and scarves are being pulled down." The event was organised by the Sindh Government in collaboration with the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi. In the lead-up to the concert, officials from the district administration, the police, Mayor Kashir Ali Shoro, and the council's president Muhammad Ahmed Shah made multiple visits to inspect the arrangements. Police later stated that crowd management inside the venue had been delegated to council-appointed volunteers. However, many attendees expressed dismay, expecting police to maintain control during such a large public event. The Hyderabad concert was one of three such events organised by the provincial government in collaboration with the Arts Council, with others held in Sukkur and Karachi. By the time Rahat Fateh Ali Khan took the stage around 11pm, many families had already begun leaving the venue in frustration and concern. The event reportedly cost the government around Rs50 million. Despite the chaos, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon issued a statement on Saturday congratulating the organisers on a "successful" event. Speaking at the concert, Sindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah congratulated the nation on its 78th Independence Day and thanked the council and its president for making the event possible. Sindh Minister for Irrigation Jam Khan Shoro, an MPA from Hyderabad, also addressed the crowd.

Singer Maanu drops first full-length album
Pakistani singers are stepping up their music game by launching tracks at an even bigger scale. The newest addition to this is singer-songwriter Maanu's new album Thikaana released on Saturday. This is Maanu's first full-length album featuring a total of thirteen original songs that have already racked up about 10,000 views on YouTube in just a day. After Coke Studio's Jhol released in 2024, this is the next big storm that Maanu's fans can look forward to. The musician had also dropped two singles from the album at the beginning of the year, Savera and cm in collaboration with Turhan James and MALIK, respectively. The album has been produced by Abdullah Siddiqui and Maanu, mixed by Grammy nominated music producer ADP and written by Maanu himself. It has been provided to YouTube by Universal Music Group. The album is packed with a blend of several different artists. The tracks have vocals, lyrics and compositions by musicians like Asim Azhar, Talha Anjum, Annural Khalid, Abdul Hannan, Talal Quereshi, MALIK., Mujju and yasirq. From Azhar chanting his usual Punjabi verses and Khalid matching her vocals to complement Maanu, each musician brings their unique style to the ensemble. Maanu expressed his gratitude to fellow contributors on Instagram on the release, 'Hugely grateful to all my collaborators who helped bring this project to life.' he wrote. 'This is the result of many years of hard work. I hope these songs can become a part of your lives. Suntay rahein aur sunatay rahein.' The singer promised fans to share more context to the album on Instagram, 'More on the process later, what's your favorite song so far?' he asked. He had previously teased the album release on Instagram by addressing fans last week. 'Thank you all for being a part of the journey so far,' he wrote and added a fire heart emoji. 'Now is the time that we find a new thikaana. Spread the word.' The set features a studio version of the already well-known Maanu song, Taranay. The track with Anjum's vocals Coffee has received around 13,000 views on YouTube, highest amongst all other songs. The singer promised fans to share more context to the album on Instagram, 'More on the process later, what's your favorite song so far?' he asked. The album is currently available for streaming on all music platforms.

Sindh CM participates in Independence Day celebrations with differently-abled children
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah celebrated the 78th Independence Day with differently-abled children in two heart warming events held at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum and the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and both events, marked under the theme 'Markaz-e-Haq', highlighted inclusivity, unity, and national pride. The day began at the Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, where the Department of Culture hosted a vibrant programme. Over 100 children from institutions such as Scanosa, C-Arts, Dar Al-Sukoon, and Umeed-e-No participated in the celebration, which featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, national songs, and cultural performances in Sindhi, Punjabi, Balochi, and Pashto. Murad, accompanied by Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary DEPD Tauha Farooqi, and prominent artists like Javed Sheikh and Ayub Khoso, engaged warmly with the children. He sang national songs, joined children on stage, and cut a cake to mark the occasion. He praised the courage and talent of the children, stating, 'These special children are the heart of this celebration. They bring joy, energy, and hope.' Murad Ali Shah emphasised his government's unwavering commitment to inclusivity, equality, and support for the differently-abled. 'Every citizen deserves respect, dignity, and opportunity regardless of physical or mental ability,' he said.
