Fans Think Thunderbolts* Revealed Marvel's Songbird in New Trailer
Geraldine Viswanathan's character, whose name was previously confirmed as Mel, has what appears to be a songbird necklace in the new Thunderbolts* trailer, adding to the fan speculation that she plays Songbird in the movie.
Viswanathan was previously confirmed to portray a character named Mel, the assistant of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, in the movie. In Marvel Comics, Songbird's alter ego is Melissa Joan Gold.
@cosmic_marvel pointed out on X (formerly Twitter), 'Geraldine Viswanathan's character in 'THUNDERBOLTS*' is seemingly wearing a Songbird necklace.'
Meanwhile, @Cy_clops shared a screenshot of Viswanathan from the trailer and an image of Songbird from the comics. 'Songbird? #Thunderbolts,' they wrote in the caption.
Another X user, @another_ted_2, quoted @cosmic_marvel's post and observed, 'Bruh, SONGBIRD is getting MCU-supporting-character-ized in a god damn THUNDERBOLTS movie.'
In the comics, Songbird is a supervillain-turned-superhero who was previously known as Screaming Mimi. Her powers include a diverse group of sonic-based enhanced abilities. She is an original member of the Thunderbolts.
Back in January 2025, Viswanathan gave an interview to ScreenRant while promoting her movie You're Cordially Invited. She was asked whether she considered herself a Songbird as she had sung a musical number for You're Cordially Invited.
Viswanathan sidestepped the question and stated instead that she didn't know what the interview was talking about. She added, 'Never in my life have I heard something like that. Yeah. Oh, look what you've done. Now, I'm all nervous. In this film, in You're Cordially Invited, I sing. I sing a song, but I'm not a bird. That's right.'
The Bad Education actress also told her co-star Meredith Hagner that she would fill her in later about what the interaction was.
Thunderbolts* premieres in US theaters on May 2, 2025.

‘Christian Girl Autumn' influencer says she needs a break from making content — but then shocks fans with a ‘plot twist'
She said, 'See ya, fall.' Caitlin Covington — the influencer hailed as the face of 'Christian Girl Autumn' — shocked fans with a tearful TikTok last night announcing she'd be skipping this year's leaf-peeping content due to the immense pressure she feels. The 34-year-old dramatically declared through tears, 'I'm not going to be able to post fall videos this year.' Advertisement 'It's just a lot of pressure to make each video better than the last — to make each fall better. And I just really need a break this year.' @cmcoving This is the hardest post I've ever had to make 💔 will post another update soon… ♬ original sound – @cmcoving Fans of hers were shocked to learn this because Covington has become their go-to inspo for all things fall — outfits, activities and where to get the best pumpkin spice latte. Advertisement Covington first began chronicling her fall obsession as a college student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, but she skyrocketed to viral fame in 2019 after the X (formerly Twitter) account Blizzy McGuire posted a photo of her and a friend in fall foliage with the caption: 'Hot Girl Summer is coming to an end, get ready for Christian Girl Autumn,' as explained by People. Now, people look to the content creator as the unofficial face of the fall season. But less than 24 hours after she posted her confessional video, Covington flipped the script and posted another video of herself — this time, there weren't any tears in sight as she was joyfully tossing leaves in the air with text overlay on the video that read, 'Plot twist: I would NEVER cancel fall.' @cmcoving Plot twist: I would NEVER cancel fall 🍁🍂 Thank you for all your support, I was truly not expecting that response – your kindness honestly blew me away. Love y'all. 🥹 P.S. Consider this the official fall launch ♬ ladies and gentlemen HER – ♱ gracie ♱ Advertisement After her original, tear-filled clip racked up millions of views and thousands of comments, Covington thanked her fans in the caption of the happy video: 'Thank you for all your support, I was truly not expecting that response – your kindness honestly blew me away. Love y'all. P.S. Consider this the official fall launch.' Covington confessed to People that the seasonal spotlight can be overwhelming. 'I do feel pressure, especially during fall, because I feel like everyone looks to me for fall content,' she told the outlet last year, noting that she begins planning her fall content months in advance, from scouting bookstores and coffee shops to curating perfectly coordinated family outfits. After her tearful August 19 clip blew up with millions of views and thousands of comments, Covington took to TikTok the next day to thank fans. Caitlin Covington / Instagram Advertisement The fall guru's following seemed to understand where she was coming from in her sob-filled post — as they showered Covington with love and reassurance. 'We love you in all seasons! You deserve to rest, girl autumn,' one wrote. Another chimed in, 'Your previous content is TIMELESS. We don't need anything new from you! … We just want to see you in joy. I hope you find peace during this break.' Covington's teased hiatus didn't just affect her fans — it was also expected to shake up the fall influencer scene that's already been wreaking havoc in New England. As The Post previously reported, the foliage-filled wilderness of Lincoln, New Hampshire, has been overrun with tourists and 'Christian Girl Autumn' copycats to the point of creating rush hour–like gridlock on mountain trails. What began as a college hobby at UNC turned full-blown obsession in 2019, when X user Blizzy McGuire immortalized Covington and a friend amid a sea of autumn leaves. Caitlin Covington / Instagram Last October, seasoned hiker Tamara Breau described the Artists Bluff Trail in New Hampshire as both 'dangerous' and disgusting, documenting the nightmare on social media. Like Midtown during rush hour, she said the trail's summit was jammed with 'bottlenecking.' Advertisement Local officials told WMUR that several rescues had to be carried out that same weekend on nearby Cannon Mountain. Conservation officers also complained that out-of-towners ignored higher-elevation climate shifts, putting themselves — and first responders — at risk. And New Hampshire isn't alone. As The Post reported in 2023, fed-up residents of Pomfret, Vermont, actually shut down Cloudland Road during peak foliage season to keep out the swarm of influencers clogging up the town. Locals say wannabe autumn stars have spent years trespassing, flying drones, parking cars in ditches, and blocking narrow dirt roads so badly that even ambulances couldn't get through.

‘Severance' Standout Tramell Tillman Joins ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
The manager of the severed floor has a new gig: tangling with Spider-Man. Though we (of course) have absolutely no idea which character he'll be playing, Severance standout Tramell Tillman will be swinging into a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This update on the much-anticipated fourth Spider-Man MCU movie starring the returning Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon—plus Jon Bernthal's Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk—comes from Variety. Tillman joins Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) and Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) on the film's list of 'new cast members from other things we like, though we have no clue who they'll be playing here.' As Severance's Mr. Milchick—or 'Seth,' depending on how far up the Lumon ladder you happen to be—Tillman really broke out in this year's second season, earning an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of a corporate zealot who's starting to show cracks in his conviction. He's not one of the show's severed characters, but viewers nonetheless got a good glimpse of the almost double life he's leading, following the rule of law at work while also cringing at some of the decisions made above his head. And, it goes without saying, if Brand New Day has any dance numbers, Holland absolutely has a kick-ass partner ready to share the floor. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, 2026, with Marvel veteran Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) directing. Want more io9 news? Apple TV+ More news: 'Super Troopers 3' Sequel Gets Massive New Update Tramell Tillman, famous for potraying Seth Milchick from "Severance," has now joined the already expansive cast of "Spider-Man 4." Tillman's role has not been revealed, and he joins Sink and Colón-Zayas as the mysterious actors so far. There are a lot of rumors regarding the new film, including the theory that Miles Morales might finally be making his MCU debut. Reports indicated that Kevin Feige stated the Morales character should not emerge in the MCU into the "Spider-Verse" films are finished, but that could be a smokescreen. It could be that the addition of Colón-Zayas and Tillman could play the part of Morales' parents. The character's parents in the comics and "Spider-Verse" films are of African American and Puerto Rican descent, respectively. Marvel is generally great at hiding things, so the studio could be throwing out nuggets of information to throw fans off theories that may or may not be true. Either way, Tillman being added to the cast should be exciting. He exploded with his portrayal of Milchick in "Severance," leading to his landing receiving an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, as well as SAG and Independent Spirit Award nominations. It will be exciting to see who Tillman ends up playing, along with the mysterious roles for the aforementioned actors added to this new sequel. For more comics news, head to Newsweek Comics.
