
State-of-the-art Vande Bharat upkeep hub coming up in Lucknow
On Thursday, divisional railway manager (DRM) Sunil Kumar Verma inspected the upcoming North Coaching Complex at Charbagh, which will serve as a dedicated maintenance facility for these semi-high-speed trains.
'The facility, currently under construction, will include advanced infrastructure such as maintenance pit lines, electric sheds, water supply networks and comprehensive waste & water management systems. Once operational, the complex will enable local servicing of Vande Bharat trains, reducing turnaround time and enhancing service reliability,' said Kuldeep Tiwari, senior divisional commercial manager, NR, Lucknow.
'Lucknow station is being developed to cater to the future demands of high-speed rail. This new complex reflects Northern Railway's long-term vision and commitment to upgrading passenger services,' said the DRM.
He also conducted a window trailing inspection of the Lucknow–Jaitipur section on the Lucknow–Kanpur rail line to assess safety, operational efficiency and passenger amenities.
During the journey, key points such as point no. 142A and level crossing No 17C were inspected, along with signal systems, level crossings and safety installations. At Jaitipur station, he reviewed the relay room, signal panels and station superintendent's office.

These trains will operate on three different routes: Amritsar to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Bengaluru to Belagavi Pune to Ajni (Nagpur) With this launch, the total number of Vande Bharat trains in the country will rise from 147 to 150. 1. Amritsar – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Route This train will operate six days a week (except Tuesdays). Train No. 26406 will depart from Katra at 6:40 AM and reach Amritsar at 12:20 PM. Stops: Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Jalandhar City, and Beas. On the return journey, Train No. 26405 will leave Amritsar at 4:25 PM and reach Katra by 10:00 PM. This train will benefit pilgrims traveling to Vaishno Devi with its faster and comfortable journey. 2. Bengaluru – Belagavi Route This train will also run six days a week. It will depart Belagavi at 5:20 AM and arrive in Bengaluru by 1:50 PM. The return leg will start from Bengaluru at 2:20 PM and reach Belagavi at 10:40 PM. While the final timetable is yet to be confirmed, this route is expected to benefit business travelers and IT professionals due to its connectivity between the two cities. Ticket prices have not been officially announced yet. 3. Pune – Ajni (Nagpur) Route This train will run three days a week. Covering over 850 kilometers, it will complete the journey in under 12 hours. The train will start from Ajni railway station and terminate at Hadapsar station in Pune. This will improve travel time and convenience between Pune and Nagpur.

Indian Railways (IR) is set to introduce six more Vande Bharat Express train services i.e. three new Vande Bharat trains, over its vast network. These new semi-high-speed trains will further enhance travel experience and improve connectivity. Currently, 144 Vande Bharat Express train services are operational across the country. Speaking with a senior railway official has confirmed the development. 'Six new Vande Bharat Express train services (3 pairs of trains) will be launched soon,' the official said. The new Vande Bharat Express trains will run on: According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Vande Bharat Express trains have been running with over 100 per cent on all routes. The overall occupancy of Vande Bharat Express trains in the financial year 2024-25 is 102.01 per cent. However, in the ongoing fiscal year i.e. FY26, the passenger occupancy of these new age trains are 105.03 per cent (till June 2025). 'The overall occupancy of Vande Bharat Express trains in Financial Year 2024-25 & 2025-26 (till June, 2025) is 102.01% & 105.03% respectively,' Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Lok Sabha on Wednesday (July 30, 2025).
