WATCH: Brian Baldinger breaks down play of LB Jamien Sherwood
2024 served as a coming out party for New York Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood.
In his fourth year in the NFL, Sherwood received a big opportunity as a starting linebacker, and he came through in a big way.
After just seven starts through his first three seasons, Sherwood started 16 games last year. He recorded three PBUs, two sacks, 10 TFL, 158 total tackles and a league-leading 98 solo tackles.
It could be argued that Sherwood was a Pro Bowl snub due to his outstanding year in the middle of the Jets defense. Because of the way he stepped up, he impressed those in the jets locker room enough to be named the team's MVP in 2024.
His breakout year led to his first big contract in the NFL, as he signed a three-year, $45 million contract this offseason to remain a staple in the Jets defense into the Aaron Glenn era.
His play has impressed NFL analysts, including Brian Baldinger, who put together a film cutup of Sherwood's standout play from 2024. Check it out below:

The Timberwolves have advanced to the Western Conference finals in consecutive seasons, while the Rockets (52-30) had the West's second-best record in the 2024-25 regular season. So, there's certainly a case to be made that adding an elite scorer and future Hall of Famer could push either team over the top in 2025-26. Miami would seem to be further away, but the weaker state of the Eastern Conference could perhaps bolster its chances. A 6-foot-11 forward, Durant averaged 26.6 points (52.7% FG, 43.0% on 3-pointers), 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season. The former Most Valuable Player (MVP) and two-time NBA Finals MVP is now 36 years old, and his current contract runs through next season. Because Durant is effectively on a one-year deal ($54.7 million), a team acquiring him would likely want to secure his commitment to a contract extension, in order to trade significant value for him. That's where Durant's reported preference of a Texas team could potentially help the Rockets get a deal done, relative to teams in other states that might not be as confident in securing a longer-term partnership. Durant played his college basketball at the University of Texas in Austin. From Houston's perspective, a trade likely needs to begin with either Jalen Green ($33.3 million in 2025-26) or Dillon Brooks, for matching salary purposes. If it is Brooks ($22.1 million), the Rockets would also need to send a second player making more than $10 million to Phoenix, such as Jabari Smith Jr. or Reed Sheppard. Draft equity and expiring contracts, such as Jock Landale and Aaron Holiday (combined $12.9 million), would likely be part of the equation, as well. Among Rockets making $10 million or more in salary, all indications are that Alperen Sengun ($33.9 million) and Fred VanVleet ($44.9-million team option) are off limits in Durant talks. Ex-NFL star wide receiver Antonio Brown facing attempted murder charges in Miami shooting
Former NFL player Antonio Brown is facing an attempted murder charge stemming from a shooting that took place during an altercation outside an amateur boxing event in Miami, according to an arrest warrant. Brown, 36, is accused of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a man he had gotten into a fistfight with earlier. The victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, told investigators one of the bullets grazed his neck. The warrant does not list an attorney for Brown, an All-Pro wide receiver who last played in the NFL in 2021 for Tampa Bay but spent most of his 12-year career with Pittsburgh. Brown did not respond to messages sent to his social media accounts. The second-degree attempted murder charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence and up to a $10,000 fine. It is the latest in a series of legal problems for Brown, who has previously been accused of battery of a moving truck driver, several domestic violence charges, failure to pay child support and other incidents. During a 2021 game with Tampa Bay against the New York Jets, Brown took off his jersey, shoulder pads and gloves and ran off the field, leading to his release by the Buccaneers. After that incident, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady said people should show some compassion for Brown, who lived at Brady's home during his time in Tampa Bay. 'It's a difficult situation,' Brady said then. 'Everybody should do what they can to help him in ways that he really needs it. We all love him. We care about him deeply. We want to see him be at his best. Unfortunately, it won't be with our team." According to the arrest warrant, Brown attended a celebrity boxing event in Miami on May 16. Police were called to the location after other patrons reported hearing shots fired. Based on surveillance video, the altercation outside the boxing event involving Brown, Nantambu and others was broken up by security staff, one of whom got into a struggle with Brown, the warrant says. 'Mr. Brown appears to retrieve a black firearm from the right hip area' of the security official, the warrant says. 'Cellphone video obtained from social media showed Mr. Brown with the firearm in his hand advancing toward Mr. Nantambu on the outside sidewalk. The video captures two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feed of Mr. Nantambu.' During his playing career, Brown caught 928 passes for 12,291 yards and 88 touchdowns. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning the 2021 Super Bowl along with Brady. Brown was a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.
