Kanye West Lists His Burned Down Church And Calabasas Ranch As He's Allegedly 'Desperate For Money'

Yahoo2 days ago
Kanye West has listed his fire-damaged church and his crumbling Calabasas ranch amid rumors he's cash-strapped.
The rapper and his wife, Bianca Censori, took out a $35 million loan to complete the purchase of their Beverly Hills mansion late last year, but have been living in and out of luxury hotels.
Kanye West has seen his fortune plummet deeply following a string of unhinged, antisemitic, and misogynistic rants, as major brands severed ties with him.
Kanye West Is Selling Two Of His Properties Amid Rumored Money Problems
West has reportedly placed his burned-down church building in the San Fernando Valley and his worn-out ranch in Calabasas on the market.
According to The Sun, the "Vultures 1" rapper is "desperate for money" and has listed the rundown church for $1.5 million, the same price it was bought for in 2023.
The church building, which went up in flames in October 2024 and is now a shadow of itself, is described online as a "rare opportunity to purchase a 29,364 square foot flat lot" in a prime area of the valley.
Buyers are "encouraged to explore the development potential, which could allow for multi-family use."
West's derelict ranch, which once hosted his failed Christian private school Donda Academy, was also placed on the market.
The listing notes that the property features a workshop barn and is accessed via a private bridge that leads to a 1.2-acre parcel of land with oak trees.
The main house boasts four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, but recent photos show that its old glory lies in ruins, as some parts of it have been demolished, while a large chunk of the property requires restoration work.
The Rapper Previously Listed His Calabasas Ranch
It comes after West placed his Calabasas condo for sale last month, with an asking price of $2.95 million.
Reports making the rounds suggest the father-of-four is currently experiencing money problems and faces over $60,000 in unpaid property taxes tied to his Calabasas home, which was given to him following the conclusion of his divorce from Kim Kardashian in 2022.
According to The Sun, he and his wife, Censori, took $35 million loan to buy their new home last year, but have hardly stayed in it as they continued to globetrot multiple times after the purchase.
The property has a 20,000-square-foot space and sits on 6.5 acres of land.
The rapper also owns an abandoned ranch in Wyoming and a dilapidated $6.7 million Yeezy HQ in West Hollywood, which he had razed and the roof torn down himself.
Kanye West Is Allegedly Running Out Of Money
The sale of his properties has sparked rumors that the "Carnival" rapper is facing financial difficulties and is seeking to keep his affairs in order.
According to the news outlet, West was recently seen queuing up to be checked in by security for a commercial flight at LAX, after his past usage of private jets.
The former billionaire has seen his net worth take a nosedive after he made several antisemitic remarks that led to major brands like Adidas and Gap severing ties with him.
West's Yeezy brand has also come to a halt, with his other business hard to account for. Amid his alleged money problems, West has also seen his career take a tumble.
Back in July, The Blast reported that fans demanded a refund for his performance at the Shanghai Stadium after the show was affected by technical problems and bad weather.
The Rapper Is Struggling To Secure Bookings
To stay afloat, the "Jesus Is King" rapper is understood to have reached out to show promoters all over in a bid to secure a booking.
However, West has been blacklisted from several shows and venues because of his controversial rants on social media and his public support for Adolf Hitler, including a "Heil Hitler" song.
As reported by The Blast, the rapper is "under financial pressure" and has been told to "stay away" from Germany, France, the U.K., Spain, Italy, Scandinavia, and Australia due to his pro-Nazi views.
Wembley Stadium and the London Stadium in the U.K. are also said to have blacklisted West.
Kanye West Is 'Banned Pretty Much Everywhere In Europe,' Source Claims
In a chat with the Daily Mail, a source close revealed how hard it has become for West to book a gig in Europe after his anti-Semitic rants.
"He's getting his team to phone around desperately asking for gigs, and he is said to be asking for $7 million a night. No one will touch him with a barge pole," the source said.
"Wembley and London Stadium both said: 'No chance, we don't need the protests,' and that was before the single came out," they continued, referencing West's "Heil Hitler" song, which was released in May.
The insider added, "It's the same story everywhere they have asked. He is banned pretty much everywhere in Europe – either the venues won't touch him or he isn't able to travel there as he cannot get a visa."

Tyla, Finn Wolfhard, Sam Nivola and More Toast to the ‘Power of the Youth' at Variety's Young Hollywood Party

It was all glitter and grooves on Thursday night as the entertainment industry's rising stars took center stage at Variety's Power of Young Hollywood party, presented by Sandisk. The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills morphed into a buzzing summer celebration, where flashing lights, flowing conversation, and fresh talent collided under the stars. The class of 2025 brought serious star power, with global sensation Tyla, 'Stranger Things' favorite Finn Wolfhard, and 'The White Lotus' standout Sam Nivola leading the charge. But this year's Impact Report cast an even wider spotlight, recognizing a dynamic range of up-and-comers — from 'Anora' star Mark Eydelshteyn to rapper 2Hollis, gymnastics icon Simone Biles and beyond. 'The Pitt' stars Supriya Ganesh and Shabana Azeez, 'Wicked's' Marissa Bode, 'Monsters: The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story' actor Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and internet faves Brittany Broski and Reece Feldman brought the energy. Musicians Ivan Cornejo, Sombr, and Remy Bond helped set the vibe as the night turned into a dance-fueled celebration of what's next in music, film and pop culture. Tyla accepted her award thanking her team — most especially her glam squad, 'for getting me snatched on that cover' — for the honor. She had just finished teasing her next album on the red carpet, and caught up with her guests of honor, her father and brother. 'When I was younger, I did not know what I was doing, and I'm still figuring it out, but I had a lot of passion and a lot of belief in myself,' she said on stage. 'I thank my team for believing in me before there was proof that it was gonna work.' With a smile on her face and her award in hand, Tyla closed her speech with an affirmation: 'Power to the youth, power to the young creatives. We killing it, and we're gonna keep on killing it. We the future!' Multi-platform recording artist and songwriter PinkPantheress kicked off the program earlier in the evening with her acceptance of the Variety Music Innovator of the Year presented by Sandisk award. Comedian and host Alec Flynn introduced the award-winning artist by making reference to the viral trend attached to her single 'Illegal' — a standout song on her second mixtape 'Fancy That.' She also teased a collaboration with Jack Harlow, who recently appeared in one of her TikTok videos: 'Give me a date and I'll make sure it comes out on that date,' the singer told Variety's Angelique Jackson on the red carpet. Wolfhard joked that he 'thought this was a roast' when he appeared on stage to accept his recognition, but ended up maneuvering the speech with ease and gratitude for his expansive career. The 22-year-old actor is the third 'Stranger Things' star to appear on a Young Hollywood cover, behind Sadie Sink and Noah Schnapp. Nivola, meanwhile, utilized his time on stage to echo the same sentiments in his cover story: 'Just fucking make movies whenever you can.' 'I'm absolutely not the first person to say this, but we all have 4K cameras in our pockets and you can get a boom mic for whatever, 50 bucks. The people who came before us and innovated and revolutionized did not have access to even a quarter of the stuff that we have access to… I really just want to say, I hope that we can all kind of use those tools and and continue to make shit — preferably longer than 25 seconds.'Best of Variety New Movies Out Now in Theaters: What to See This Week What's Coming to Disney+ in August 2025 What's Coming to Netflix in August 2025

Alicia Silverstone Just Dropped News About 'Clueless'— And Fans Will Be Totally Buggin

You're not totally buggin — a series based on the '90s classic 'Clueless' is in the works, and Alicia Silverstone is sharing her role in it. Thirty years ago, people remember 'rollin' with the homies' in Beverly Hills thanks to the iconic Cher Horowitz and her well-to-do entourage. Now, during a Thursday appearance on 'Today,' Silverstone spoke about the voyage back to the West Coast. 'I'm really excited about it,' she said. 'We're going to try really hard… the goal is to make it honor what everyone loves about 'Clueless,' [and] Cher. We want to honor that.' Silverstone shared that the project is currently in 'baby stages' but promises the production will bring something 'fresh and new' to the characters many have held close to their hearts since 1995. She also revealed that she is the project's executive producer. In a separate interview on 'TODAY with Jenna & Friends,' she reflected on the film's long-lasting legacy and its unexpected journey into a 'cultural phenomenon.' She credited the movie's enduring appeal to director Amy Heckerling and her knack for 'capturing exactly what was happening at that moment.' The actor also attributed the movie's success to the costumes that turned hallways into runways. 'I was just excited to be there doing this great part that I got,' she said, when asked if she ever predicted the film's massive impact. Five years ago, Silverstone sat down with Vogue to discuss the movie's impact and how audiences aligned with her character. 'I think people identify with Cher's heart and her willingness to change and grow because of how silly she was,' she said. 'She was trying hard to evolve because of her sweet Josh. I don't know how to explain why or what made ′Clueless' what it was, but I know it happened, and I know that people continue to love it. And it never gets old, so that's the good news.' Related...
