Fattah's directorial debut shows flair, confidence

FATTAH Amin's directorial debut with the telemovie "Noktah Dosa" showcases his creative touch and his 14 years of experience in the entertainment industry.
Those who caught the gritty drama that aired on TV3 drew parallels between the artiste, whose real name is Abd Fattah Mohd Amin, and his cousins, Syamsul and Syafiq Yusof.
One Netizen said: "Fattah is Syamsul Yusof's cousin. He would have quite a bit of experience behind the scenes."
Another said: "There's certainly 'class'. Fattah's touch is brilliant. He could soon follow in the footsteps of Syamsul and Syafiq."
A fan said: "Fattah can go far as a director. The storyline is interesting, and it's also down to the solid cast."
"Noktah Dosa" is one of the telemovies on TV3's Dari Lensa Ke Layar slate, an initiative to nurture local talent and give actors a chance to direct.
Others who received this opportunity are Zahiril Adzim, Siti Saleha and Janna Nick.
"Noktah Dosa" centres on Hafiz (Nafiz Muaz), a postgraduate sociology student researching prostitution. His work leads him to Kamelia (Datin Elvina Mohamad).
He attempts to rescue her from her situation, but the presence of Madam (Jasmin Hamid) complicates Hafiz's task.
Fattah expressed his gratitude for the chance to direct and for being entrusted with a meaningful script.
"My first telemovie highlights a clear message. We shouldn't be quick to judge, even if someone is in a profession that appears sinful on the surface.
"Guidance belongs to God and can reach anyone at any time."
Produced by Anomalous Films, "Noktah Dosa" can be streamed on Tonton.

#SHOWBIZ: Hot night at TV3's AMT 2025

DESPITE suffering a wardrobe malfunction and having to rush from the airport, actress and singer Daiyan Trisha said her efforts were worth it after she scooped the Ultimate Award and the Selebriti Stailo Terhangat award at the recent Anugerah Melodi Terhangat 2025. The Ultimate Award honours the year's most influential public figure based on their positive impact, viral moments, and public engagement across social and digital platforms. "My fans had been voting every day, so this win is for them," she said when met after the show. "I'm very happy to also win the Selebriti Stailo Terhangat category. I take my appearance and style very seriously. I do get tired of having to look like this all the time, though. For instance, today I had just arrived from Bangkok," she added. Daiyan explained that her attendance was also to show appreciation for her fans' efforts and hoped it would add to the evening's excitement. "I truly appreciate the fans who voted diligently. They don't care about the controversy surrounding me. They understand. I'm used to the criticisms by now. "I accept and understand them because that's what you have to face as a public figure. I'm human. I've learnt to put these criticisms aside and focus on my career," she said. Daiyan's win came after a competitive year where she and other celebrities, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and content creators were challenged to create the most creative video featuring the new Proton X50 model — a campaign that played a key role in the outcome. AMT2025 celebrated not only entertainment excellence but also genuine digital influence, making it a unique awards show in the Malaysian entertainment landscape. Other winners AMT2025 also left sweet memories for actress Sophia Albarakbah when she won the Selebriti Feminin Terhangat award. "I saw the other candidates, and it was just 'wow'. I didn't expect to win," she said. Meanwhile, it was no surprise that Fattah Amin, whose popularity has surged in recent months, garnered Selebriti Maskulin Terhangat award. "I'm grateful to the fans who voted for me. All the other nominees, whom I consider brothers, are also great personalities," he said. Despite fierce competition from other nominees in the Selebriti Muzik Paling Onz & Terhangat category, Khai Bahar proved he is still the "reigning king" among music fans. "I'm touched by the determination of the fans who voted for me. It's a sign that people still remember me and my career. That's what I want to emphasise. Without the fans, I'm nobody," he said. Amid the excitement of young artistes winning awards, industry veteran Datuk Rosyam Nor was presented with Selebriti Viral Terhangat Award, for which he was the sole nominee. "I was actually surprised because this was a special award given by TV3 for my appearance in the drama 'Keluarga Itu'. Thank you to TV3 for giving me the opportunity after a long time of not appearing in a drama series. "When Erma Fatima offered it, I thought the story and my character were too heavy. But when Erma told me this was our responsibility as actors, I accepted it. "I knew it would create quite a stir among TV viewers and it did become viral. My character was very much hated and criticised," he said. According to him, it was halfway through the drama that the audience finally understood the message. "Fans couldn't accept it at first, but in the end, they said what I did was right. It was a success in my acting career, which received 1.2 billion comments (on platform X) and was watched by 11 million people on TV3. "This is huge, considering an actor my age. Nowadays, it's really important for an actor to go viral on social media," he said, admitting that he once felt a similar response when he acted in the film 'KL Gangster 2' 15 years ago. Other winners included Bella Astillah and Syed Saddiq, who were awarded the Selebriti Couple Goals Terhangat Award, staying true to fan predictions. The duo, affectionately dubbed "BASS" by fans, captured the public's attention with their potent chemistry both online and in person. Meanwhile, Che Puan Sarimah Ibrahim won the Selebriti Drama Sangat Terhangat Award, acknowledging her captivating comeback on screen. Siti Saleha was honoured with the Selebriti Ikon Terhangat Award, and Zarif Ghazzi, a breakout star, was crowned Selebriti Newcomer Terhangat. Hot FM radio presenter Keymi was named the winner of the Proton X50 Superstar Choice Award, which came with the vehicle itself and a trophy. The Tonton Original Terhangat category, which highlighted original series or movies aired between January 2024 and June 2025, went to the acclaimed drama 'Bru'. Special performances from the likes of Ella, Anuar Zain, Marsha Milan, Hael Husaini, DeFam, KOI, Iman Troye, Ara Johari, and Indonesian artiste Fajar Noor entertained the audience. Held at the Putra Hall in the Putrajaya International Convention Centre, the award ceremony, hosted by Ain Edruce and Fikry Ibrahim, was broadcast live on TV3 and streamed exclusively on Tonton.

This is Zarif Ghazzi, the young and talented actor who, at the age of 21, is already burning the tracks in the acting world

Meet Zarif Ghazzi, the young actor at the age of 21, who is already melting hearts and burning up the tracks in Malaysia's acting world. Making his entry into acting immediately after his studies, Zarif won plaudits when he was among the lead stars for top local drama series "Antara Dua Syurga" and "Berbahag Suami". He stole the show when he was announced as the "hottest newcomer (Selebriti Newcomer Terhangat)" at the Anugerah Melodi Terhangat 2025 (AMT2025) this year. But what made it an even more amazing day for the youngster was that he got all 100% per cent votes for the title, thus upstaging many other well-known and more experienced winners at the starry event. Winning the award also meant that the young star was crowning himself as the most prominent and influential new face of the year in the local acting industry. "I'm still surprised, honestly. In fact, in a daze. I take this as a blessing for my young career. I'm so thankful for all the votes. It is just amazing, I got 100% of the votes. This is indeed a very, very big honour," said "My journey in the industry is still long, and there are still many more characters that I need to improve and present to the fans. I am very grateful. Thank you to TV3 for opening up space and giving me a platform to be known, and most importantly, to the fans who voted non-stop and believed in me from the beginning. "This victory belongs to all of you. This is just the beginning, I promise to continue to work hard and give my best," said Zarif. The young man from Johor has acted in many TV series already, and that includes top productions like "Khunsa, Isteri Halal, and Persis Boneka." This year, he is already down as one of the leads in "Seribu Tahun," an Astro production that had many followers. Many fans and entertainment experts also believe that the talented actor is exactly the down-to-earth type that can breath new standards for the entertainment industry in the country. In the press release from the event, Melodi also stated that Zarif is a young star to watch in the future, and many believe he is the face of the future for the industry. "Zarif's victory is the beginning of a more glorious journey. We will certainly continue to see more successes from Zarif in the future," the statement said. The young actor also seems to be grounded in his blossoming career. "On the part of career, I just hope the journey is a long one. I hope to learn and improve. I also want time to further my studies. Actress Bella Astillah had to present award to ex-husband's rumoured fling

Photo: TV3/YouTube There was an awkward moment at Malaysia's Melodi Hottest Awards 2025 on Aug 3. Malaysian singer-actress Bella Astillah was one of the presenters at the event broadcast live on TV3 from Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The 31-year-old was presenting the award for the winner of the Hottest Female Celebrity category with Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. Bella was visibly uncomfortable after she opened the envelope and saw the name of the winner. 'I know this one... I know her very well. Sophia,' she said, referring to Malaysian actress Sophia Albarakbah. Sophia, 32, went on stage after her name was announced. Bella swiftly passed her the trophy and a bouquet of flowers without making eye contact or acknowledging her. In early 2023, Bella accused Sophia of trying to wreck her marriage with her then husband, Malaysia-based Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz. Aliff and Sophia had both starred in the drama series Ku Akad Kau Dengan Bismillah (2023). Bella and Aliff, 34, first divorced in 2019, but reconciled in 2020. They divorced for the second time in June 2024 after Aliff was caught in khalwat (close proximity) with Malaysian actress Ruhainies, 33. Sophia was asked about the incident with Bella after the ceremony. "I'm OK because we're in the same industry. I never felt as if I was being mocked. Maybe that's just her way of presenting the award," she told entertainment portal Gempak. For the record, Bella and Syed Saddiq won in the Hottest Celebrity Couple Goals category, but she did not speak to the media. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
