Telangana plans forensic audit of land ‘fraud'
The violations were allegedly committed by using the Dharani portal, the integrated land revenue records management system, which was rolled out during the BRS regime. Sources privy to the developments said that the pilot project would be completed in two months.
According to top sources, the government intends to begin the forensic audit in these two key constituencies, both of which are politically sensitive. They have long been strongholds of the opposition BRS. While Sircilla is represented by BRS working president KT Rama Rao, Siddipet is the constituency of senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao.
Based on the terms of reference set by the Revenue department, the Kerala Security Audit and Assurance Centre (KSAAC) will carry out the investigation.
The sources added that the investigation is likely to start within a fortnight.
The decision to start the audit in Sircilla and Siddipet constituencies is being viewed as politically motivated, with ruling party insiders suggesting it could be the beginning of a wider effort to expose alleged financial and administrative misconduct under the previous government led by the BRS.
The proposed forensic audit will involve a detailed technical and legal scrutiny of land records, mutations and ownership changes, using advanced tools like satellite imagery, blockchain verification and revenue department cross-verification.
This is the first time the state is attempting such a high-level investigative mechanism to address land fraud and encroachments. The sources said that similar audits are likely to be carried out across other districts, especially those where suspicious land transactions took place, if the pilot proves successful.

Despite the financial challenges, he noted that the government is supplying 6 kg of free rice per person under the ration card scheme and has launched several other welfare programmes, including housing for the homeless and poor. The minister also highlighted that over 65,000 government jobs have been filled and that Group-I examinations, which were not conducted in the past decade, have now resumed. He added that 200 units of electricity are being provided free of cost and that a new law ensuring 42% reservations for Backward Classes has been introduced. He appealed to BJP MPs and MLAs to ensure the President's assent for the legislation. Congress preps to revive ‘Op Akarsh' to rope in more BRS MLAs
1 2 Hyderabad: With the Supreme Court setting a three-month deadline for the assembly speaker to decide on the disqualification of turncoat MLAs, the ruling Congress is all set to revive its 'Operation Akarsh' and go all out to rope in more BRS MLAs in a bid to escape the anti-defection law. The ruling party needs 16 more BRS legislators to merge the BRS Legislature Party (BRSLP) with the Congress Legislature Party (CLP). The BRS won 39 assembly seats in the 2023 assembly election but lost the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency in the 2024 bypoll. So far, 10 BRS legislators have joined the Congress after the assembly election. As per the anti-defection law, unless two-thirds of a party's legislators defect, the defectors are liable to be disqualified. In such cases, by-elections have to be held as legislators will have to resign after switching sides. "It has always been active. First unit of Yadadri Thermal Power Plant dedicated
Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced that the entire 4,000 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Plant (YTPP) would be dedicated to the nation in Jan 2026. Of the total 4,000 MW, the deputy chief minister dedicated the first unit of 800 MW of the thermal power plant on Friday and termed it as a milestone in meeting the energy needs of the state. Vikramarka said the plant construction got delayed by two years and the project cost escalated due to delays in getting environmental clearances during the BRS govt and the Congress, after coming to power, secured all the required clearances within two months after coming to power. The power plant unit was commissioned by the deputy CM along with other ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Adluri Laxman Kumar on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the deputy CM said monthly and weekly targets were set for the project's progress and two units with a combined capacity of 1,600 MW have already been dedicated to the nation. He announced plans for world-class educational institutions and corporate-level healthcare in the township. Additionally, free access to education and healthcare – on par with that provided to plant employees – would also be extended to the local communities. Ambulances would be provided to nearby constituencies, and welfare activities will be initiated to ensure that locals benefit directly from the presence of the thermal plant. Responding to local complaints about road damage due to heavy vehicle movement related to the power plant, he said a large number of CC roads have already been sanctioned and work has begun. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy praised the deputy CM and said under his supervision, the long-delayed Yadadri Thermal Power Project has reached its final stage.
