The Algerians did not take their elimination in Soweto kindly, so much so that they started a physical altercation with their hosts after the match.
Pirates won the tie and progressed to the semi-final for the first time since 2013, after Mohau Nkota had scored the lone goal in the reverse leg away in Algeria.
Orlando Pirates drew 0-0 with MC Alger in the CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg, resulting in winning the tie 1-0 on aggregate.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) must take actions against the unsavoury scenes that unfolded at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday night.
Those nasty scenes happened for back-to-back Champions League quarter-final games in SA as the Mamelodi Sundowns' game against Esperance experienced them as well.
But unlike in Orlando, where the two teams were involved in a physical altercation, the ugly scenes in Pretoria were between the fans of the two teams.
CAF safety and security division held a meeting earlier this week to deliberate on the matter as it brought the governing body into disrepute.
As such, Dr Christian Emeruwa, the CAF safety and security head, opened up on what the hosting clubs are expected to do to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Emeruwa said: 'For CAF interclub football to live up to the expected standards, each club must work hard to create an environment whereby supporters feel safe at the stadium.
'All club managers and security stakeholders are expected to work alongside CAF security and their respective national security officers to ensure the stadium is safe and welcoming.'
Stadium Management South Africa (SMSA), the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Pirates did their part to ensure that all safety protocols were in place.
But MC Alger's officials did their best to contravene all those regulations as they also fought with the security staff, including the SAPS, that were put in place.
The North Africans' fight at Orlando did not only end on the pitch, some of their officials took it down the tunnel with the media personnel.
The barbaric behaviour shocked everyone, especially given the fact that Alger were on foreign territory, and were expected to act as distinguished guests.
Pirates' coach Jose Riveiro refused to put his head on the block and point fingers.
Instead, he said such behaviour doesn't have a place in football.
'I don't really know what happened,' Riveiro said. 'We'll suddenly now have to go into a space to know who started the fight. I think it doesn't matter.
'I think for me, us, and my group, football is something that cannot get dirty with these types of behaviours. It's something that's unacceptable.
'Probably, someone was making mistakes from outside, but those behaviours must be far from sport because we don't really need it.
'We have to learn how to win and lose, and accept whatever result that's coming. Again, I don't really know. I was still sitting on the bench when that happened.
'I was trying to understand the dimension of what we achieved, and a second later, everything was a mess in front of me.'

Pirates need a coach Pirates are looking for a new head coach after Spaniard Jose Riveiro's departure, and Mokwena has been strongly linked with the post. 'Of course, I would consider it (the Pirates job),' Mokwena said in an interview with SuperSport. 'It is a big club. It still has people who are very close to me and to my heart. I am very fond of Dr Irvin Khoza. He will always have a special place in my heart. 'I've been fortunate enough that as a coach. I've learned a lot about leadership from a few of the best football leaders on the continent. Dr. Khoza is number one for sure – his general language, history, geography, football … everything.' A strong heritage Mokwena is of Pirates heritage. His grandfather Eric Sono captained the side in the 1960s and his uncle Jomo Sono was a Pirates star of the 1970s. The 38 year-old was an assistant coach at Pirates to Milutin Sredojevic between 2017 and 2019. He then took over as interim head coach when Sredojevic resigned in August 2019. All you need to know about Orlando Pirates signing Tshepho Mashiloane

Orlando Pirates have wrapped up the signing of Tshepho Mashiloane from NFD outfit Baroka FC. What does he bring to the party? SABC Sport reported last month that Pirates had sealed a deal for Tshepho Mashiloane from Baroka. What is there to know about the 23-year-old? Well, the versatile defender can operate at right-back or in central midfield. This will be a considerable boost for the Pirates technical team; although they have a strong squad at their disposal, both full-back positions are a relative weak spot. With experience in the second tier, it's also hoped that he's ready for a battle. There are reports that Pirates are also close to wrapping up a deal for Baroka's winger Kabelo Kgositsile. He's opened up about the imminent move, which is a bittersweet one. Since making the step up from youth to senior football in 2025, Jaedin Rhodes has flourished. Rhodes can operate in several attacking midfield roles, either on the flanks or behind a central striker. He made 23 appearances in the 2024-2025 league season for the Citizens. Availability is one of his biggest strengths. Last season, he made 29 league appearances, and the season before, he notched up 17. Orlando Pirates fans are expectant on Soweto Derby Day. Agent denies ‘disturbing' Bafana winger to Chiefs reports

'It's just people having wishes, and it's one of those disturbing stories,' said Cream Sports. Esperance Elias Mokwana will not be moving to Kaizer Chiefs, according to the player's agency. Picture: Ryan Wilkisky/BackpagePix The agency representing Bafana Bafana and Esperance winger Elias Mokwana has denied rumours he could be sold by the Tunisian giants to Kaizer Chiefs. ALSO READ: Basadien 'privileged' to captain Bafana 'There is no truth in those reports about Mokwana joining Kaizer Chiefs, there's nothing, nothing like that,' sports agency Cream Sports told Chiefs-linked Mokwana 'still happy at Esperance' 'It's just people having wishes, and it's one of those disturbing stories. 'His camp has not received nor heard any word from Chiefs and I can tell you, Mokwana is still happy at Esperance,' the agency concluded. Mokwana moved to Esperance from Sekhukhune United this past season, and helped them do a league and cup double, as well as reach the Caf Champions League quarterfinals, where they lost to Mamelodi Sundowns. He was in and out of the Esperance side, however, and was reported to be close to leaving the club in November over a contract dispute.
