After the game Palmer was asked why he put the award down his shorts, to which he replied: 'I've got not pockets', which prompted laughter from Jones.
Palmer wasn't involved in the league phase for Chelsea but featured in the majority of their knockout round fixtures in the Conference League this season.
Chelsea overcame Copenhagen in the round of 16 before getting the better of Legia Warsaw and Djurgarden.
The Blues are now the first club to have won the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League.
With Chelsea having also secured their place in the Champions League for next season it has been a positive few days for Maresca's team.
Palmer will hope that this will prove to be a springboard for further success for Chelsea.
Former Chelsea star Joe Cole was full of praise for the impact that Palmer made.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Cole said: 'Cole Palmer, absolute genius. We don't produce these players.
'They don't fall off trees. He took the game by the scruff of the neck tonight and made it happen.
'There aren't many players in world football who can do what he does.'

I got my lip filler dissolved – my lips ‘exploded' and people say I ended up looking like a character from Monsters Inc
A WOMAN was left looking like a character from the animated movie Monsters Inc after getting her lip filler dissolved. The recent months have seen plenty of beauty buffs having epic glow-downs and embracing their natural features - which also means getting rid of their juicy pouts. 3 3 However, for one woman, Kimia Ahwazi, the journey to a more natural appearance went horribly wrong after she got her lip filler dissolved. Taking it to TikTok, the young dark-haired beauty shared a series of selfies after the procedure - which, she joked, caused her lips to ''explode''. Following the treatment, Kimia, thought to be from the Netherlands, noticed significant swelling - which is a normal side effect. This is because when filler is injected or dissolved, the body reacts to the minor trauma by releasing white blood cells, which causes inflammation and swelling, warned the experts at Karidis Clinic. ''The lips are particularly susceptible because there are so many blood vessels. '' Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are also more prone to swelling as they act as humectants, attracting 1,000 times their weight in moisture,'' they explained. However, nothing could prepare the Dutch beauty for what was to come, as mortified Kimia said it kept ''getting worse''. ''Was literally about to explode,'' Kimia said in the now-viral video, where her pout had ballooned up around three to four times its normal size. Horrified by what she was seeing in the camera, the beauty buff said she even considered taking drastic measures and was ''about to sue someone''. Checking out her reflection, Kamia, who posts under the username @ kimiaahwazi, even went was far as comparing herself to '' Marge Simpson ''. I'm so obsessed with filler that my huge lips touch my nose - trolls can't understand what I'm saying, but I don't care Despite the jaw-dropping results, Kamia tried to cheer herself up by ''overlining them for the vibes'' - and bizarrely confessed she even ''started to like the plump''. 'Quack if you need help' Since being posted online, the clip has taken the internet by storm, winning the beauty buff a whopping 3.1million views, over 95k likes and 11k shares. What are the risks of lip fillers? THE RISKS of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used. The NHS recommends you speak to your practitioner about the risks beforehand. Serious problems are rare but can include: Infection A lumpy appearance under the skin, which might need to be treated with surgery or medicine The filler moving away from the intended treatment area, which may need to be removed using surgery Scarring Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness You should see your GP if you have any complications that need medical attention and speak to your practitioner if you're not happy with the results or experience lumpiness. Source: NHS Close to an astronomical 800 people flooded to comments, many totally gobsmacked. One person wished her a speedy recovery - whilst also comparing her to a famous Monsters Inc character, Fungus. ''Not to be rude but.. Know that scream extractor scene in Monsters Inc? Yeah.. Hope you're doing better.'' Another joked, writing sarcastically: ''Amazing! Very natural effect, I hope this is what you were looking for.'' Meanwhile, someone else thought she belonged in the gang of iconic childhood dolls.

Attorney General compares Reform and Tories' policy to actions of Nazi Germany
The Attorney General has drawn comparisons between calls for the UK to disregard international court rulings and the actions of Nazi Germany. Speaking in London on Thursday, Lord Richard Hermer KC criticised the notion that the UK could breach international obligations, branding it a "radical departure from the UK's constitutional tradition". In a speech to the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi) thinktank, Lord Hermer highlighted the historical context of dismissing international law, noting that similar arguments were made in Germany during the early 1930s. He said that the claims that international law can be "put aside" were made in the early 1930s in Germany. Lord Hermer voiced concerns over what he sees as a growing sentiment within the UK, including within the Palace of Westminster, to abandon international legal constraints in favour of "raw power". He cautioned against this approach, stating: "This is not a new song." "The claim that international law is fine as far as it goes, but can be put aside when conditions change, is a claim that was made in the early 1930s by 'realist' jurists in Germany, most notably Carl Schmitt, whose central thesis was in essence the claim that state power is all that counts, not law." Lord Hermer also said that because of what happened 'in 1933, far-sighted individuals rebuilt and transformed the institutions of international law'. That is the year that Adolf Hitler became German chancellor. Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has stopped short of calling for the UK to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), as other Conservative figures have advocated. However, she suggested the UK would have to leave the convention if it stops the country from doing 'what is right'. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has said he would get rid of the ECHR, and told ITV in April that 'we have to get back the ability to decide, can we really control our borders'. In his same speech to Rusi on Thursday, the Attorney General said 'we must not stagnate in our approach to international rules' and that officials should 'look to apply and adapt existing obligations to address new situations'. 'We must be ready to reform where necessary,' he added.

NI 'in control of own destiny' - but can they take next step?
Nations League Group B1: Northern Ireland v PolandVenue: Seaview, Belfast Date: Friday, 30 May Kick-off: 19:00 BSTCoverage: Watch live on BBC iPlayer and follow live text commentary & in-play clips on the BBC Sport website At times, it feels like Northern Ireland are destined to remain in League B of the Nations League. Tanya Oxtoby's side have been there for three iterations of the competition and Euro qualifying, and while they are too good for League C, the top tier has always been just out of they have the chance to reach the promised land, but to do so they will need to deliver the biggest victory of Oxtoby's Ireland sit second in Group 1, three points behind leaders Poland, who travel to Belfast on Friday night. The Poles won the opening game between the sides, but if Oxtoby's side can pull off an upset they would be in a strong position heading into the final round of matches. If Northern Ireland lose to Poland on Friday, and Bosnia-Herzegovina defeat Romania, then it will come down to a final game shootout between the sides for the promotion play-off spot. As things stand in League A, possible play-off opponents could include the likes of Austria, Denmark, Portugal and no matter what happens against Poland, NI's League A hopes are in their own hands. "It's what we wanted. We wanted to be in this position heading into the final two games where we can control our own destiny," Oxtoby told BBC Sport NI."It's a real credit to this group of staff and players where we are in a position where we could do something special and top the group. Our destiny is in our own hands."We just need to take it one game at a time and focus on our performance." 'We can cause them problems' Northern Ireland fell to a 2-0 defeat in Poland in their Nations League opener after a quickfire double for the hosts. That was followed by a dramatic 3-2 win at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina, before a draw with Romania was followed by a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture. The opening 45 minutes of the win over Romania featured some of the best football Northern Ireland have played under Oxtoby, and a free-flowing move led to teenager Kascie Weir netting the decisive goal. Oxtoby said the key to a positive result against Poland will be "concentration", and it will be a challenge against a "really good team"."We have come a long way since that game and we were disappointed of elements of it. "They are fairly consistent and good at what they do. We know they are going to come here and cause us problems in certain areas. "We will hope to cause them problems in return. It will be a great challenge for our young group." After a number of matches at Windsor Park and Inver Park, Northern Ireland will return to Seaview for the first time since October Belfast venue was a cornerstone of their successful Euro 2022 qualification campaign, but they haven't played there since drawing with Hungary in the inaugural Nations said they want to make the venue a "fortress" and the compact ground can help them cause Poland "some problems"."We want to make it uncomfortable for Poland, that would be the ideal. "We had a conversation before training about having a conversation about how good they can be, and I think they are now starting to see that." Christiansen involvement 'a luxury' To help her young squad, Oxtoby has brought former England international Izzy Christiansen into her coaching set up."We know the quality that Izzy had as a player, and she is a brilliant coach as well," said Oxtoby."To have a female who has done so much in the game and is also brilliant on the grass, it's priceless for this group and the girls are really lapping it up."Northern Ireland captain Simone Magill played alongside Christiansen at Everton, and said it was "great" to have her in working with the youthful squad."I know her well. I think she set me up for a good few of my Everton goals too," said Magill, who now plays for Birmingham City. "She has been there and done it all, to be able to ask her questions and pick her brains is a real luxury for us to have. "It's one that all the girls have been desperate to use as well. That's fantastic."
