CM for Guntur today
Guntur: Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will tour Guntur on Thursday and Friday. She reviewed arrangements for the CM's visit. On June 26, the CM will flag off a rally to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The rally which starts at Fever Hospital, will reach up to Chillies Centre. He will interact with the students and youth in the programme. EAGLE (Elite Anti-Narcotics Group) is conducting the programme.
She said the EAGLE team will keep an iron leg on the ganja smuggling. The coalition government set up EAGLE and seized 1 lakh kgs of ganja since it came to power besides destroying ganja crops. The CM will participate in the AI Hackathon to be held at RVR&JC Engineering College on June 27. Guntur district collector S Nagalakshmi, EAGLE chief Ravi Krishna, SP Satish Kumar, Guntur East MLA Md Naseer Ahmed, Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi accompanied her.

SP reviews anti-drug measures
Nandyal: On International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed on June 26 every year, a review meeting was held at Nandyal district police office on Wednesday, under the chairmanship of SP Adhiraj Singh Rana. The meeting aimed to evaluate current measures and strategise further steps to curb drug abuse and illegal trafficking in the district. Addressing the participants, the SP stressed the importance of public awareness and inter-departmental coordination to build a drug-free society. He directed the officials to intensify educational and outreach programmes in schools and colleges, to sensitise youth to the dangers of drug use and promote healthy lifestyles through community involvement. Rana also reviewed the preparedness of enforcement agencies and suggested a comprehensive action plan to counter drug trafficking. He urged the departments concerned to identify high-risk zones, enhance surveillance, and ensure strict implementation of relevant laws. The role of rehabilitation and de-addiction programs was also highlighted as a critical component in reducing drug dependency. District Prohibition and Excise Officer S Ravi Kumar, Assistant Excise Superintendent V Ramudu, DM&HO Dr Venkataramana, Director of Women and Child Welfare Leelavathi, Excise Inspectors Krishnamurthy and Lakshman Das and others participated in the meeting.

Need to increase number of P4 Margadarsis: CM
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said many people in society are interested in helping the poor in some way and suggested transforming P4 into a platform for them. He stressed the need to focus more on connecting guides (Margadarshis) with Bangaru families and engaging with potential guides. A dedicated call centre has been set up by the government to monitor the program daily. He reviewed the implementation of the P4 initiative launched with the goal of achieving zero-poverty at the Secretariat on Wednesday. The review focused on the identification of Margadarsis and the selection of Bangaru (golden) families. Officials explained that out of 19,15,771 Bangaru families identified across the state under the P4 model, 87,395 families have so far been adopted by Margadarsis. The Chief Minister directed officials to establish systems that provide necessary information and guidance to those interested in becoming guides. He emphasised conducting surveys to assess the condition of families before and after their adoption as Bangaru families to evaluate improvements in their living standards. He also called for regular auditing of the programme's implementation, quarterly reviews, and timely feedback to guides on the impact of P4 through reports. He suggested organizing special programs with industrialists, NRIs, celebrities, and people from elite sections of society to explain the P4 concept and invite them to participate as Margadarsis. He said he would personally reach out to CEOs, COOs, CFOs, MDs, and chairpersons of the top 100 companies to invite their participation in the programme. He also announced plans to virtually interact with Telugu people living in India and abroad to explain the importance and goals of the program and invite them to become guides. The Chief Minister shared the idea of appointing NRIs as P4 advisors and encouraging them to serve as guides. He reviewed various logos designed to promote the Zero Poverty and P4 concept and said one logo will be selected soon. He also suggested that March 30, the date when P4 was launched, should be celebrated annually to showcase the achievements of the programme. Finance minister Payyavula Keshav and officials from the finance and planning departments participated.

Kerala CM calls for ward-level vigilance committees to combat synthetic drug abuse
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has called upon various voluntary organisations and residents forums in Kerala to form ward-level vigilance committees to intensify surveillance measures against synthetic drug abuse. In his online address after launching the 'Two Million Pledge' anti-drug campaign organised by the Kozhikode district panchayat here on Thursday to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Chief Minister said synthetic drug abuse was continuing to be one of the prime reasons for the rapid increase in crimes and the breakdown of the social life of the youth. Mr. Vijayan pointed out that it was the responsibility of the society to save the worst-affected segments from the threat through possible social interventions. 'In our fight against this evil, we should get the support of all people from all sections along with the ongoing legal actions under the leadership of various enforcement agencies,' he said. Explaining the role of local administrators and local communities in taking forward the State government's fight against drug trafficking, he said there should be more vigil on the part of the local communities in passing timely alerts to the enforcement agencies about the suspicious drug-trafficking activities. He also called upon the public to support the ongoing rehabilitation measures for the drug addicts under the State government's Vimukti Mission scheme. Mass oath Later, Minister for Public Works and Tourism P.A. Mohammed Riyas administered a mass oath-taking ceremony against substance abuse at an offline event held at Kozhikode Town Hall. District panchayat authorities said two million people, including students, members of various voluntary organisations and local administrators, took part in the oath-taking sessions from different parts of the district. Programme coordinators said arrangements had been made in over 40,000 centres across the district to make the awareness initiative a notable event under the district panchayat's continuing interventions against substance abuse. Cultural programmes were also part of the mass awareness programme arranged with the participation of people's representatives, local administrators and members of various socio-cultural organisations. District panchayat president Sheeja Sasi presided over the inaugural function. Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran, District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh, District Police Chief (Kozhikode city) T. Narayanan and District panchayat vice president P. Gavas were also among the key speakers at the event which was webcast live on the District panchayat's YouTube channel 'PTALK'.
