CS urges DISCOMS to be on high alert in pre monsoon season
He instructed the CMDs of DISCOMs to monitor the situation on a daily basis, ensuring close coordination from Assistant Engineers to Superintending Engineers at the field level. In case of any disruptions to power supply, he emphasized the need for immediate restoration measures without delay. The CS also instructed all DISCOMs to set up 24x7 control rooms for round-the-clock monitoring, emergency response, and prompt grievance redressal. In view of the red alert for coastal districts, the Chief Secretary on Saturday conducted a review meeting advised field teams in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram to remain extra vigilant and responsive. He warned that any negligence in duty would be viewed seriously urging all officials to prioritize uninterrupted power supply, swift response, and transparent public communication. Disclosing the above during a high-level review meeting with APDISCOMs convened virtually on Saturday, the chief secretary reviewed the power supply situation across the state, readiness for the upcoming peak demand season, ongoing infrastructure development under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), and restoration efforts following recent adverse weather conditions.
Additionally, Vijayanand emphasised that DISCOM officers must be visibly present at work sites, especially during line maintenance and tree branch trimming, to ensure public confidence and proper execution. To enhance accountability, he directed that each Director be assigned two to three districts for focused monitoring and timely reporting. All efforts must be geared toward maintaining system reliability and better services to consumers throughout the upcoming monsoon season.
The Chief Secretary said that the state recorded a peak electricity demand of 12,600 MW on May 13 with average daily consumption reaching around 228 MU. Power demand in the coming months (June to November 2025) is projected to remain high, ranging between 218 and 235 MU per day.

No coercion in P4, CS tells collectors
Vijayawada: Chief secretary K Vijayanand has instructed District Collectors to exercise extreme caution in identifying 'Margadarshulu' (mentors) for the 'Swarnandhra P4' programme, ensuring the process is free from any controversy or criticism. During a video conference from the Secretariat on Thursday, the chief secretary reviewed the Swarnandhra P4 Foundation, Water Bodies Repairs, Renovation & Restoration (RRR) scheme, Green Hydrogen Hub and Annadata Sukhibhava programmes with district collectors. He emphasised that as directed by the Chief Minister, 'Golden Families' (Bangaaru Kutumbaalu) should only be adopted by Margadarshulu who come forward voluntarily, without any pressure. He urged collectors to motivate well-placed individuals in society to come forward voluntarily as mentors. With the government planning a large-scale launch of the programme on August 16, he instructed collectors to achieve their defined targets by August 15. In a move to enhance state development and public welfare, the chief secretary directed district collectors to promptly submit proposals for necessary repairs and restoration work to preserve all water resources in the state. He highlighted the government's objective to develop the state's water bodies under the Central government's RRR scheme, with a 60 per cent central share and 40 per cent state share. To transform the state into a green energy hub, the Prime Minister and Chief Minister have laid the foundation stone for a Green Hydrogen project in Pudimadaka. Chief secretary Vijayanand instructed the collectors of Sri Sathya Sai, Prakasam and Anantapur districts to identify the necessary land for establishing solar power projects to supply solar energy to this joint venture between the state government and NTPC. The chief secretary also clarified doubts raised by several district collectors regarding the implementation of the Annadata Sukhibhava programme. Principal secretary, planning, Piyush Kumar, virtually participated in the meeting and explained the SOPs for collectors to follow in implementing the P4 programme.

Telangana CS reviews preparations for I-Day fete at Golconda
HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao on Wednesday instructed officials to make foolproof arrangements for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations at the Golconda Fort. He also directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure that the event is conducted in a well-organised and grand manner befitting the occasion. During a coordination meeting held at the Secretariat to review and finalise the arrangements for the event, the CS instructed the police department to prepare a detailed traffic route map and make necessary arrangements by assigning designated alighting and pick-up points for invitees and general public. Adequate security and traffic control measures should be ensured at all venues, he added. He also directed the R&B department to illuminate prominent public buildings such as the Assembly, Raj Bhavan, Secretariat and statues of Telangana Thalli. The Fire Services Department has been tasked with deploying fire safety personnel and firefighting equipment to ensure safety and readiness for any emergency. DGP Jitender, R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary Navin Mittal, Hyderabad Collector Dasari Hari Chandana and other senior officials attended the meeting.
