Contemporary clothing brand Madhappy is set to open on Saturday its first flagship in New York City.
Located at 207 Mulberry Street in Nolita, the 1,800-square-foot space was designed in partnership with LA-based creative studio PlayLab, Inc. The dual-level boutique brings Madhappy's signature visual language to New York, featuring blue-dyed concrete, brushed aluminum, ceramic tile, and Douglas fir.
The store will be home to Pantry, Madhappy's café concept that first launched in Los Angeles. The café will serve a rotating menu curated with both local and global culinary partners, including coffee and tea from Japanese-based café, Hotel Drugs; Persian baked goods and pastries from Sofreh; and cold-pressed juice from Toms Juice.
The store opens with Madhappy's latest collections and recent collaborations, including its Guest In Residence project with Gigi Hadid.
Madhappy will equally release limited-edition capsules available exclusively in-store. The collections pay tribute to iconic New York institutions, with pieces featuring collaborations with the New York Yankees, the New York Mets, and Brooklyn pizzeria Lucali.
The boutique marks the brand's second permanent location, following its flagship debut in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. It also follows a series of seasonal pop-ups in markets like East Hampton, Miami, Chicago, and Tokyo.

Demna unveils his final ready-to-wear collection for Balenciaga

Hoodies, oversized puffer jackets, baggy trousers, long coats, distressed or washed denim — Demna has unveiled his final ready-to-wear collection for Balenciaga, a curated synthesis of his 10-year tenure at the Kering -owned fashion house. The collection serves as a manifesto, or a parting statement, as the designer prepares to leave the Parisian label in July, following his last couture show, to take the helm at Gucci, the group's flagship brand. The Georgian-born, German-based designer (whose full name is Demna Gvasalia) has reshaped Balenciaga's image over the past decade, bringing it firmly into the 21st century with a blend of luxury streetwear and tailored silhouettes featuring exaggerated proportions. For spring 2026, he presents 48 looks. The lineup spans sculptural, tailored pieces that reinterpret Cristóbal Balenciaga's signature curves and a sportier, street-inspired wardrobe marked by oversized volumes, reworked vintage items and an anti-establishment spirit that defines the designer's approach. These elements contrast sharply with the refined, romantic style of Pierpaolo Piccioli, who will succeed him. The collection features pieces drawn from 35 past collections, new designs and garments from the designer's personal wardrobe. 'They represent the volumes, silhouettes and attitudes that have shaped my vision and exploration of contemporary wardrobe — what people really wear, how they wear it, and the line between luxury and fashion,' Demna explains in a letter-style statement, describing the collection as 'a return to my roots after all these years.' Inspired by Vetements The collection unmistakably evokes Vetements, the brand Demna founded in 2014 and left in 2019. It also suggests the potential direction Gucci might take in the coming months — reimagining the Italian house's classics through a radical contemporary lens and elevating everyday pieces into a new form of luxury through an ongoing exploration of wardrobe archetypes. 'My work at Balenciaga, and in general, has often revolved around the anthropology of fashion and dress codes,' Demna notes. To visually reinforce this theme, he collaborated with photographer Ari Versluis and profiler-stylist Ellie Uyttenbroek. The Dutch duo, whose project Exactitudes (also the title of this collection) has strongly influenced Demna's styling, have spent years photographing and categorizing individuals across various socio-cultural groups based on their clothing and style. Demna first discovered their work while studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Over the years, he has continued to explore the concept of social uniforms and how individuals personalize their clothing. The work of Versluis and Uyttenbroek has left a lasting imprint on his fashion approach. Speaking about this final collection, the artistic director highlights this influence: 'It marks the end of a beautiful era that I wanted to capture and celebrate by creating the 'Balenciaga archetypes' — the people, silhouettes, atmosphere and ideas that have all been fundamental to my work for this incredible house.' At the same time, the brand is launching a music collaboration with Britney Spears as part of its Balenciaga Music project, which began in 2020. The project offers Balenciaga clients access to curated musical content, including playlists compiled by Demna and various artists, along with a capsule collection. Inspired by the American pop star's concert aesthetic, the collection features a limited edition of T-shirts, zip-up hoodies and caps adorned with Spears' autograph and archival imagery, finished with vintage-inspired treatments that resemble classic album merchandise. The project also includes an exclusive playlist created by the pop icon and two remixes of her most iconic tracks by BFRND, the stage name of musician Loïk Gomez — Demna's husband — who has composed the soundtracks for all Balenciaga runway shows. Before unveiling his couture collection and moving on to Milan, the designer will receive one final tribute in Paris during men's fashion week with an exhibition titled Balenciaga by Demna, which will run from June 26 to July 9 at Kering's headquarters on Rue de Sèvres.

Chanel to stage Galerie du 19M in Tokyo this fall

Chanel has unveiled plans to stage Galerie du 19M in Tokyo this fall, promoting its unique array of multiple "Métiers d'art" to the greater public. The brand has chosen an elevated space—on top of a noted Tokyo skyscraper—to display the inimitable skills of 19M craftspeople. Founded by Chanel in 2021 in Paris, 19M is a unique constellation of skilled métiers and specialist suppliers bringing together nearly 700 craftsmen and experts from the worlds of fashion and decoration. The Galerie du 19M is an open space dedicated to the transmission and promotion of Métiers d'art through a multi-disciplinary program showcasing emerging creative scenes. Previously, the Galerie du 19M moved for several weeks to a naval fort in Marseilles when Chanel staged its cruise collection in the Mediterranean city last year. From September 30 to October 20, 2025, Galerie du 19M will be staged on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower. A giant skyscraper with nearly 400,000 square meters of floor space, Mori Tower is also home to a famed art museum, one floor above the Chanel event. 'Visitors of all ages will marvel at the richness of the Japanese and French heritages and the modernity of their contemporary interpretations,' Chanel underlined in its release. In January 2022, French President Emmanuel Macron celebrated the opening of 19M, Chanel's unique couture and fashion skills campus in northern Paris, praising it as an expression of a cultural revolution in France. It is an impressive building uniting wide-ranging skills from embroiderers (Lesage) and bootmakers (Massaro) to milliners (Maison Michel), pleat makers (Lognon) and feather suppliers (Lemarié) in a truly unique constellation of skills and know-how. 'The Galerie du 19M Tokyo is a new milestone in the history that links Chanel and Japan, founded on respect, mutual admiration and shared inspiration. While Japanese aesthetics have permeated many collections since the days of Gabrielle Chanel, the House has also paid tribute to Japan through many important events, from its first fashion show in Tokyo in 1978 to its first Métiers d'art exhibition abroad, at the Ginza flagship in 2004,' noted Chanel. The Galerie du 19M Tokyo will offer a free, inspiring and playful tour, open to all, in three chapters: The Festival, a monumental installation showcasing the unique know-how of the Maisons d'art du 19M, designed by the ATTA agency, headed by renowned architect Tsuyoshi Tane; and 'Beyond Our Horizons,' an immersive exhibition featuring creations by nearly 30 Japanese and French craftsmen and artists — many of them created in collaboration with the Maisons d'art du 19M — curated by five personalities from the creative world: Momoko Ando, Yoichi Nishio, Shinichiro Ogata, Kayo Tokuda and Aska Yamashita. Finally, "Lesage, 100 years of fashion and decoration," is a retrospective celebrating the centenary of the embroidery and weaving house, unveiling its most impressive creations.
