Here's everything we know about Taylor Swift's new album ‘The Life of a Showgirl'
On Tuesday morning, Taylor Swift announced her new LP, 'The Life of a Showgirl,' and here's everything - a meagre bounty, for now - that we know about it.
1. Word arrived after a countdown clock to 12:12 a.m. - an apropos debut for news of her 12th album. Swift made the announcement on 'New Heights,' the popular podcast co-hosted by her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce.
2. While there's no information yet about a tracklist or collaborators, shortly after the news, a string of billboards in New York and Nashville directed fans to a Spotify playlist titled 'And, baby, that's show business for you.' It's full of previously-released Swift hits produced by Max Martin and Shellback - suggesting the pop superproducers had prominent roles on the new record.
3. There's no release date but it's available for pre-order on Swift's website now. The cover art is - assuming this isn't some misdirection - a cryptic minty green background and sparkly orange padlock.
4. Swift has been relentless in releasing new music over the last few years. In 2024, she releases'The Tortured Poets Department,' followed by a massive 'Anthology' edition of bonus tracks, which made 'Poets' the bestselling album of the year.
5. Additionally, she re-purchased her back catalog of master recordings, first released through Big Machine Records, from investment group Shamrock Capital for a rumored nine-figure sum. Swift's re-recorded 'Taylor's Version' editions of those albums were a popular rebuttal to her old nemesis Scooter Braun's purchase of her catalog.
While two of those 'Taylor's Version' LP's remain unreleased or unfinished (her self-titled debut and 'Reputation,') she now plans to re-issues the originals as well.

Byer's jokes about Fox News targeting Kimmel came amid heightened speculation that President Donald Trump has his thumb on the scale of network staffing decisions after Paramount and CBS canceled 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' last month. While the president has maintained he wasn't responsible for CBS canceling the program, the Trump camp has continued to suggest certain programs that criticize him are at risk of a similar fate. Back in July, the Trump administration said 'The View,' which has continuously criticized Trump, is 'next to be pulled off the air.' That same month, Trump stated that he 'absolutely' loves that Colbert was fired and said he heard Kimmel was next to go. He later doubled down on his predictions that Kimmel would be 'next,' and added Jimmy Fallon into the mix. 'Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent,' Trump said during a press conference on Aug. 6, according to Fox News. 'They're next. They're going to be going. I hear they're going to be going. I don't know, but I would imagine because they'd get — you know, Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon.' Taylor Swift tears up telling story of how she got her masters back
For a decade, Taylor Swift refused to believe she'd own her music catalog again. When the impossible happened, she was "bawling my eyes out." Speaking to boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on a "New Heights" podcast episode that very aptly dropped Aug. 13, Swift choked up multiple times while telling the story. As Swift grew emotional, she explained, "I don't ever really talk about it." "I haven't gotten my hopes up about this in a decade," she explained. It was a couple of months after the Super Bowl when she got a call from her mom that delivered the good news: "You got your music." Swift struggled to say this as she teared up once again. "I very dramatically hit the floor, for real. Bawling my eyes out," she told the Kelces. Taylor Swift's mom Andrea and brother Austin helped bring her masters home "After the Eras Tour, I had a meeting with my team, and we decided this might be a good time to approach the current owners of (her masters)," Swift said. "The owners of it was a private equity firm called Shamrock Capital. I knew them to be aboveboard people; they had been very friendly to us," she continued. "What I was looking to do, though, was I wanted to buy my music outright. I don't want to be in a partnership; I don't want to own 30% of it. I want to own all of it. But it was a long shot to think they would do that." She chose to make this a personal matter rather than a business decision. "I'm in the business of human emotion. I would so much rather lead heart-first in something like this. Because for me, this is not 'I want to own this asset because of its returns,'" Swift explained. "Everything that I've ever done is in this catalogue." "Rather than send lawyers or management and a big crew," she instead flew out her mom Andrea and brother Austin, as her emissaries of sorts to potentially broker the deal in Los Angeles. "They told them the whole story of all the times we've tried to buy it, all the times it's fallen through.
