The EC added that it had received 3,223 applications between 3 pm on August 1 and 3 pm on August 2 for fresh enrolment of electors turning 18 years on the cutoff dates July 1 and October 1, 2025. Each one of them has submitted their Form 6 with the mandatory declaration, the polling agency said.

As per rules, claims and objections are to be disposed of after the expiry of seven days.
The update lists 'zero' claims and objections filed 3 pm on August 1 and 3pm on August 2, by the BLAs appointed by RJD, Congress, CPM, AAP, BSP, National People's Party, BJP, JD(U), CPI (ML) (Liberation), LJP (Ram Vilas), Rashtriya LJP and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party.

"No BLA of any political party has submitted a single case to BLOs during the last 24 hours. This, despite all BLAs having agreed to go through the boothwise draft lists given to them on August 1, carefully," said the commission.
On Friday, district election officers of Bihar's 38 districts had shared the draft electoral roll for all 90,712 polling booths with the political parties. It furher provided them the list of electors who were there in the roll as on June 24, 2025, but are not in the draft electoral roll published Friday.

EC is meanwhile issuing advertisements in print, TV and social media to create awareness among the electors of Bihar regarding the option of filing claims and objections.
It will also set up special camps in all block-cum-office circles and urban local body offices, from 10 am to 5 pm on all days till September 1.
Any elector of Bihar can check his name in the draft electoral roll by filling his EPIC number directly on the EC voters' portal and can also file claims and objections.

Porvorim: The assembly on Tuesday saw a heated debate between chief minister Pramod Sawant and opposition MLAs over the alleged underutilisation of funds earmarked for tribal welfare in the state and the delay in filling up posts reserved for STs. The opposition MLAs also said the state failed to meet its promise of providing political reservation of seats in the assembly to tribals by 2025. While the CM said that 82% of funds meant for tribal welfare were utilised in Goa, the highest for any state, the opposition disputed this. 'The tribal sub-plan has not crossed 5.2% when it should be 10.2%. The roster for reserved posts in govt offices is manipulated,' said Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai. 'The state has not yet notified the tribal scheduled areas or taken any steps in this direction to this day.' He said, 'The file for the promotion of an ST police inspector to DySP is pending vigilance clearance.' Sawant said the notification of tribal scheduled areas is pending due to some technical issues and the matter will be resolved soon. Bhopal, Indore to become Metro Regions Under 25-Yr Plan
Bhopal: The House on Tuesday passed the Metro Area Bill seeking to declare Bhopal and Indore, along with adjoining districts, as metropolitan areas on the same lines as the National Capital Region (NCR). Initiating the debate, urban development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said the Metropolitan Area Bill was part of a long-term strategy to address development challenges likely to emerge over the next 25 years. Notably, the NCR comprises Delhi and its adjoining areas of UP, Haryana and Rajasthan. Referring to PM Narendra Modi's vision to make India a developed nation by the year 2047, Vijayvargiya said the vision can't be achieved if the states also do their bit to contribute in realising this dream. Even as Vijayvargiya was speaking on planning for next 25 years to ensure sustainable development of both the urban and rural areas proposed to be brought under the metropolitan areas, Congress MLA Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat said long-term planning was alright but the minister should first bring out the Master Plan for Bhopal and Indore. 283 ‘love jihad' cases lodged in MP since 2020, assembly told
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh has recorded 283 cases of alleged "love jihad" between Jan 2020 and July 15 this year, with 71 of them involving minor girls, the state assembly was informed on Tuesday. The data, tabled in response to a question by BJP MLA Ashish Govind Sharma, revealed that these cases were registered under provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021, and Indore and Bhopal topped in such cases in the state. "How many cases of love jihad have come into cognisance in MP since 2020?" Sharma asked CM Mohan Yadav, who holds the home portfolio. "Out of these, in how many incidents have reports been registered in police stations? How many of these cases involved boys and girls under 18 years? How many cases are ongoing in courts?" Sharma asked in his written query. Responding to the questions, the CM stated that the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021, which came into force on Mar 27, 2021, empowers the state to act against coercive or deceitful religious conversions, particularly those targeting vulnerable women and girls. In the district-wise classification of cases, Indore reported the highest number of 74 cases registered under Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021. Second was Bhopal with 33 cases. The two major cities accounted for 40 per cent of the total cases in the state. The other cities with double-digit numbers included Khandwa (12), Ujjain (12) while Chhatarpur witnessed 11 cases under the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021. Under the Act, convicts can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined up to Rs 1 lakh. The law covers mass conversions as well. Under it, anyone wishing to convert must submit a declaration, 60 days prior to the district magistrate. Any religious priest, who intends to organise rituals of conversion, shall also inform the collector 60 days in advance.
