Wimbledon 2025: We're Already Obsessed With The Unpredictable Mix Of Celebrity Guests This Year

Yahoo21 hours ago
If there's one thing we enjoy when Wimbledon rolls around every year, it's seeing the completely random collection of celebrities gathered in the stands.
What… did you think we were going to say the tennis? As if.
This year's tournament is officially underway, and we're happy to report that the combination of celebrity spectators is already as unpredictable as ever.
Fresh from her headlining slot at Glastonbury over the weekend, Olivia Rodrigo was spotted watching a match on Wednesday with her boyfriend Louis Partridge, with whom she was seen sharing a smooch in the Royal Box.
Seated in front of her was a very smartly-dressed Tom Daley, while off to her left was the former WWE star turned actor, John Cena.
Just along from the gold medal-winning diver, meanwhile, was the England squad's newly-appointed manager Thomas Tuchel, joined by his predecessor Roy Hodgson.
And as if the Royal Box wasn't chaotically star-studded enough, Wednesday's event also brought out Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra (who were seated next to Mamma Mia! star Dominic Cooper), Keane frontman Tom Chaplin and rom-com star Leslie Mann.
Earlier in the week, the tennis brought yet more stars to the side of the court, with Russell Crowe, Sarah Lancashire, Cate Blanchett and Rebel Wilson among those in attendance, a day after the newly-appointed Sir David Beckham watched with the likes of Sir Gareth Southgate, Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne and The Saturdays star Mollie King.
Monday's guests also included royals like Kate Middleton, with her daughter Princess Charlotte; as well as Princess Beatrice, in attendance with her mum, Sarah Ferguson.
All we can say is… please keep these random celebrity Wimbledon guests coming. We won't be satisfied until we're watching Dame Judi Dench tucking into some strawberries and cream with Ainsley Harriott, Kym Marsh and Mr Blobby.

Bradford youngster kicks off new TV show with Lionesses

A YOUNG Bradford actor features in a new football TV show alongside star players from England's Lionesses. Daya Singh Athwal, 12, is in CBeebies series Football Fantastics, which starts tomorrow. The live-action scripted series is described as "a high-energy, feel-good comedy that celebrates friendship, fun, and the beautiful game". Set in Yorkshire, it follows six children who come together every weekend at their local football group, where friendships are forged and epic adventures unfold both on and off the pitch. The series, produced by Strike, the team behind CBBC hit series Jamie Johnson FC, features cameos from Lionesses including Alessia Russo, Chloe Kelly, Fran Kirby and BBC Sports Personality of the Year Beth Mead, as well as cameos from England's Olly Watkins and former Millwall and Leyton Orient player Charlotte Lynch in her acting debut - plus special regular guest star, former England goalkeeper Jill Scott. Daya, who attends drama classes at Baildon-based drama school and acting agency, Articulate Agency, has had roles in the Secret Lives of 5 Year Olds, two TV commercials and short films Raj's Story and The Boat Story. "Being part of the Football Fantastics was amazing," said Daya. "I got to do two of my favourite things at once - play football and act! I had so much fun and learned a lot too. My weekly drama classes with Articulate and LAMDA lessons really helped me to feel confident on set and bring my character to life." Football Fantastics comes to CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in line with BBC's Summer of Sport and the Women's Euros. Says Jill Scott: "It was a pleasure to be involved in such an exciting, funny and important show. "The kids are so talented and inspiring for anyone involved in the game at any level, especially with a female coach!' Creator of Football Fantastics Sam Talbot said: 'With Football Fantastics, we wanted to capture the sheer joy of the game - the laughter, the friendships, the unforgettable moments that happen both on and off the pitch in kids' football clubs, for both them and their parents. "It's a love letter to grassroots football and the amazing kids who turn up each week just for the fun of it. We're thrilled to have legends like Jill Scott and the Lionesses bring their magic to the show. It's all about inspiring the next generation while having a blast along the way." Articulate Agency works with top UK and US casting directors, producers and show runners to secure high-profile, roles. Youngsters at Articulate have been in TV dramas including Gentleman Jack, Last Tango in Halifax and All Creatures Great and Small.

Forest 'clearly not interested' in selling Elanga

BBC Radio Nottingham's Colin Fray believes Nottingham Forest have no desire to sell Anthony Elanga to Newcastle this transfer window. "Forest are clearly not interested in selling," Fray said on the Shut Up and Show More Football podcast. "They're not having to sell, not desperate to sell and they want to keep Anthony Elanga. That's not a surprise because there is no substitute for pace. Advertisement "You see the pace he has and he's also got something on the end of it. It's all very well being able to run fast but you've got to be able to control the ball when you're running and be able to do something with it. "Just look at his goal against [last season] Manchester United at the City Ground - that will tell you everything you need to know about the player." Elanga has 11 goals and 21 assists in 82 appearances for Forest and Fray says his end product has caught the attention of rivals. "That's why Newcastle want him," he said. "They've got a Champions League campaign and they're keen to strengthen, so they're looking at their options. Forest are not in a position that they have to sell but I suppose you come back to that old phrase of every player has got a price. Advertisement "There might come a point - it depends if Newcastle are going to go high enough. When the money becomes attractive, that's when you look at what players you can bring in. Option A - a replacement and option B - a replacement plus a couple more to add to the strength in depth." Listen to the full chat here

Bundesliga clubs "keeping a close eye" on Havertz

Arsenal's plans to sign a new striker this summer have raised fresh questions about Kai Havertz's long-term future at the Emirates. According to BBC Sport, the Gunners are open to selling one of their more established first-team players within the next 12 months, with the German international mentioned as a potential candidate, depending on how his role in the squad develops. Advertisement The BBC also reports that 'several clubs in Germany' are 'keeping a close eye' on Havertz's situation ahead of the summer of 2026, when he will have two years left on his contract. The 26-year-old attacker left Bayer Leverkusen to join Chelsea in 2020 before making the switch to Arsenal in 2023. Since then, he has made 87 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 29 goals and providing 13 assists.
