Nitin Gadkari Flags 'World War' Threat Citing Israel-Iran, Russia-Ukraine
Coordination, harmony and love are vanishing due to the authoritarianism and dictatorship of superpowers and there is an atmosphere of conflict across the world, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said on Sunday while citing the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Iran wars.
Hailing India as the land of the Buddha giving the message of truth, non-violence and peace to the world, Mr Gadkari emphasised the need to ascertain future policy after reviewing and deliberating on international happenings underway.
Speaking at the launch of the book 'Beyond Borders' here, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways said these conflicts are creating a situation where World War could break out "anytime".
The technological advancements pertaining to war were also making it tougher to protect humanity, he asserted.
"There is an atmosphere of conflict going on across the world amid the war between Israel and Iran as well as Russia and Ukraine. The situation is such that there is possibility of a World War taking place anytime in the backdrop of these two ongoing wars," Mr Gadkari said.
Mr Gadkari said warfare dimensions have changed due to advanced technology, with increasing use of missiles and drones, which was reducing the relevance of tanks and other kind of aircraft.
"Amid all this, it has become difficult to protect humanity. Often, missiles are fired on civilian settlements. This has created a serious problem and there is need to discuss all these issues at a global level," the senior BJP leader said.
"It won't be right to say so but (fact is) all this is slowly leading to destruction. Authoritarianism and dictatorship (adhikarwadi-hukumshahi) of the superpowers is making coordination, harmony and love vanish," he opined.

Nadda alarmed by rising urea demand in TG
Hyderabad: Union Minister of Fertilizers and Chemicals JP Nadda has expressed serious concern over the abnormal increase of urea consumption in Telangana. While accepting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's request for additional supplies of urea, the union minister appealed to regulate chemical fertilizers by promoting organic farming. A day after the CM met the Union Minister in New Delhi, Nadda sent an official communication to the state government on the supply of urea. He also said that urea sales during Rabi (Yasangi) season in 2024-25 increased by 21 per cent as compared to Rabi in 2023-24 and it is a big worrying factor amid growing environmental challenges. The union minister also highlighted that the Centre was providing incentives to state governments through the 'Pranam scheme' to reduce the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and promote organic and natural farming. An official state delegation led by the Chief Minister met the Union Minister in Delhi on Tuesday and briefed Nadda about the shortage of urea and appealed to uninterrupted supply of urea in July and August for Kharif season. In a quick response, the union minister assured him of full support to meet the demand of fertilizers from the farmers, and instructed the officials of his ministry to ensure adequate supply of urea to Telangana. The union minister also instructed the state government officials to take necessary steps to ensure equal distribution of urea to various districts without diverting the stocks for non-agricultural needs.

Addressing the media, Mr. Madhav demanded that Vijayawada's Lenin Centre be renamed after Viswanatha Satyanarayana, questioning the relevance of Lenin to India and advocating for a local icon who worked tirelessly for the Telugu language. 'Why should a place in India be named after Lenin, who has no connection to our country?' he asked. 'We must honour those who contributed to our culture and language. Viswanatha Satyanarayana deserves this recognition,' he said. At the party office, Mr. Madhav vowed to carry forward the party's legacy with the strength and determination demonstrated by his predecessors. He emphasised unity and proactive engagement, stating, 'Every worker is functioning with the spirit of being a leader. This collective zeal is the foundation of our movement.' Reflecting on political atmosphere in the State, Mr. Madhav said 'a decisive verdict has been delivered to end the anarchic rule,' signalling a turning point in the State's political landscape. Centre stood by Himachal in the past and will continue to do so: Nadda
Shimla, July 9 (UNI) BJP National President and Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today visited the rain-ravaged areas of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh due to the monsoon. The party chief visited areas that suffered major damage due to heavy rains including Nachan, Pangliur, Baga, Sainj, and Thunag. He met people who had lost 100 percent of their homes and land, some had even lost their parents and family members in the disaster. He also visited relief camps housing the affected people. Talking to the media, Nadda said he has been consistently visiting Himachal Pradesh during times of disaster, offering support and solidarity. "Recent destruction caused by rains is distressing. It has caused damage in the state, especially causing loss to life, property, and livestock. Many villages have been rendered and many places I visited have suffered huge losses," he lamented. If any political party was the first to provide relief to the public, it was the BJP, he claimed, adding that with the support of the public, various service centres were being operated, and the BJP played a leading role in quickly collecting and distributing food and daily necessities to the victims. Nadda emphasised that the Government of India has always been prompt in providing relief and financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh. "Our sentiments are with the affected people. BJP, headed by state president Rajeev Bindal and supervised by Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, is spearheading in relief work in Himachal. We are ensuring that no one is left in pain," he said. As far as relief from the centre is concerned under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, immediate and time-bound assistance has been provided time and again. Recalling the 2023 disaster, Nadd said he had visited Himachal thrice during that period and ensured that assistance worth Rs 3,146 crore was delivered to the state through the central government. Currently in the wake of the disaster, Home Minister Amit Shah has released Rs 2006 crore as disaster relief for rehabilitation and reconstruction on the basis of assessment. "As a representative of Central Government I would like to assure the people of the state that the Centre is committed to give more than the rightful funds for relief work. I urge the state government to implement the relief and rehabilitation effectively as earlier there were reports of weak implementation in relief work, despite the fact that there were adequate funds," he said.
