Heartbreaking Corrie scenes as Debbie confirms dementia diagnosis to loved ones
Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) has been keeping a huge secret from (most of) her family recently in Coronation Street, after she was diagnosed with dementia.
Proud, independent Debbie felt like she didn't want to burden her brother Kevin (Michael Le Vell) with the news, as he's already going through a tough time with cancer treatment.
As for her relationship with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), Debbie opted to dump him rather than tell him the truth.
Debbie's split with Ronnie hasn't been easy for either of them, as they both love each other and had previously decided to get married. Ronnie has been left hurt and confused, while Debbie thinks he's already moved on as she's spotted him a few times in the company of Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
So far the only person who knows about Debbie's diagnosis is her other brother, Carl (Jonathan Howard) – and he only found out by accident and has been sworn to secrecy by Debbie.
But all that is about to change in an episode airing soon, where Debbie takes a sudden turn for the worse and is forced to open up to her family about what's really going on.
Debbie and Bernie (Jane Hazlegrove) go to the Chariot Square bar for a few drinks to cheer Debbie up after she admits to Bernie that she's finding it hard to be in the same room as Ronnie.
Also in the bar is Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey), and when he causes a fuss by failing to produce ID when asked, Debbie loses it with him. We've seen Debbie becoming irrationally angry before and it's a symptom of her condition, and this time she really loses control and smashes Brody's glass on the bar.
The next day Bernie is worried about Debbie because of her behaviour at the bar but also because she forgets to pay at the cafe.
She's under pressure because there's been a flood at the hotel and she's facing having to cancel an awards ceremony, but Leanne offers to host the event at Speed Daal.

Debbie's grateful for that, but once again she sees Ronnie and Leanne together joking about something, and it bothers her. More Trending
Then Debbie suddenly collapses. She wakes up to find Kevin and Abi (Sally Carman) by her side and they tell her she has to go to hospital.
Debbie tells them there's no need for that. She knows what's wrong with her, she says – and tells them she has dementia.

Vicki takes action to keep EastEnders abuser Joel out of jail after assault
Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) makes it her mission to protect Joel Marshall (Max Murray) after his commits another sex offence in EastEnders next week. As viewers of the BBC One soap have seen, Joel is deeply troubled, and is the reason his family were forced to flee from Australia. After upskirting a school mate, his dad Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) coughed up a whopping $50,000 to keep the girl's silence, but her family also demanded that they leave the country. Since settling in Walford, it seems that his behaviour hasn't changed. Not only has he introduced naïve Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to pornography, but he also decided to record sexual content of his own. Growing closer to Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James), he secretly filmed them having sex – a video which a horrified Ross later discovered on his son's phone. In upcoming scenes, his behaviour worsens, despite demands from both Ross and Vicki for him to change his ways. Having spent the day with Tommy, the lads board an underground train and Joel decides to entwine him further into a web of misbehaviour. He pulls out his phone, and instructs Tommy to start recording. Stumbling through the carriage, he pretends to fall on a fellow passenger named Isla, who he goes onto touch inappropriately. Tommy is stunned by what he sees, as a terrified Isla rushes to report him to the police that are present in the tube station. Joel is apprehended and hauled in for questioning – just as Ross and Vicki witness what is happening. Down at the cop shop, Ross demands answers from the teen, as Vicki corners Isla and tries to comfort her. Vicki is supportive of the girl's decision to report Joel, and hopes that it will be the kick he needs to stop his alarming behaviour patterns. She then passes on her number in case she needs anything further from the family. Later that night, she comes up with a cunning plan, inspired by Ross' actions Down Under. More Trending Tommy's mum Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) has her own concerns about Joel's influence over her son, but it soon becomes clear that Vicki is the one who she should be worried about. When Joel makes attempts at reconciling with his mate, Tommy is left shaken by an ultimatum from Vicki. She warns that unless he keeps his mouth shut, she will implicate him in the crime. Harvey Weinstein guilty of sexual assault in landmark retrial
Harvey Weinstein now faces fresh prison time after jurors found he forced a woman into a sex act in 2006. Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been convicted of one count of sexual assault in his sex crimes retrial. The 73-year-old was acquitted of another, and jurors were as yet unable to reach a verdict on a third charge, reports the Mirror. Weinstein, who denies ever raping or assaulting anyone, sat emotionless in court as the split verdict was delivered. It marks a partial victory for both prosecutors and his defence, as the case continues to divide public opinion He denies sexually assaulting or raping anyone. His initial conviction came five years ago after the landmark #MeToo Movement. However, last year it was overturned. The case went back for a retrial in the same Manhattan courthouse. Now, the jury convicted the former studio boss of forcibly subjecting one to a criminal sex act in 2006. They also acquitted Weinstein of another criminal sex act charge from 2006. The jury remains in deadlock over claims he raped another woman in 2013. Under New York law, the third-degree rape charge carries a less severe penalty than the first-degree criminal sex act offence. Jurors – seven women and five men – are now in their fifth day of deliberations and earlier today re-heard dramatic testimony from Jessica Mann, who says Weinstein raped her in a hotel room in 2013. She has waived her right to anonymity. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to raping Mann and to forcing oral sex on two other women, Mimi Haley and Kaja Sokolo. He insists that he never sexually assaulted or raped anyone. His legal team claims the women were ambitious opportunists trying to boost their careers in the movie business. Mann told the court her relationship with Weinstein started consensually but turned abusive. Despite this, it continued for some time. Weinstein was convicted in 2020 of raping her and assaulting Haley, but that conviction was overturned last year due to concerns over how the jury was influenced. Sokola added her accusation last year after New York state's highest court overturned the 2020 conviction and sent the case back for retrial. Weinstein is also appealing a 2022 rape conviction in Los Angeles. All three women in the case have waived their right to anonymity. Weinstein is facing a retrial after New York's highest court overturned his 2020 conviction last year, ruling that prejudicial testimony had unfairly influenced the original outcome. He will be retried on two of the original charges; raping an aspiring actor in a Manhattan hotel in 2013, and forcing oral sex on a production assistant in 2006. A third, unnamed woman also came forward in this retrial with fresh claims. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is currently being held at Rikers Island, where his lawyers say he's endured shocking conditions. They've filed a $5 million lawsuit against New York City, claiming "substandard medical care" and unsanitary conditions. EastEnders stars tease Joel's downfall as 'trouble' ahead in 'big' new storyline
EastEnders cast members Shane Richie and Sophie Khan Levy have both hinted there could be twists and turns when teenager Joel Marshall's sickening actions are exposed There could be a downfall set for EastEnders teen Joel Marshall, who has been at the centre of some dark scenes recently. The son of Ross Marshall only arrived weeks ago, but he's already targeted one teenage girl with a sex tape filmed without her consent, while it was also revealed something happened with a girl while he was living in Australia. It was said to involve an inappropriate image, and it led to Joel having to flee while he also owed someone money in a bid to pay the girl's family off. It was clear Joel had not changed though, recently isolating Avani Nandra-Hart from her friends before sleeping with her, only to record her without telling her. He showed the video to pal Tommy Moon, while Avani has been trolled over sleeping with Joel - but the video is yet to emerge. Amid this, Joel has been leading Tommy astray, and recent scenes saw the latter being introduced to pornography by the bad influence. Joel appears to have some worrying views and thoughts about girls, with fans fearing what's ahead for the character and Tommy amid a shocking assault in upcoming scenes. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, two stars somewhat involved in the ongoing storyline have teased "trouble" on the way and a "big storyline" ahead. There's also hints of what could happen if Avani's parents find out about the sickening video, with a revenge teased. READ MORE: Coronation Street star speaks out over major show change and teases 'exciting' twists Actress Sophie Khan Levy who plays Avani's mother Priya on the BBC hope hinted that if the truth does get revealed, Priya and ex Ravi may take revenge on Joel, suggesting they'd go "crazy" at the teen. Meanwhile, Shane Richie, who plays Tommy's father Alfie Moon, has also promised more drama ahead. He addressed a huge storyline on the way that was just about to kick off, and hinted it could be linked to Tommy and Joel. While he didn't confirm this, the timings would certainly match up. Shane said: "There is more trouble ahead and while I was away there was a lot filmed. Sonny who plays Tommy texted me saying, 'Shane, I'm doing this and that'. It's great. It's big stuff." As for Sophie, she spilled on Ravi and Priya's likely reaction: "I really don't know. I think I can imagine them two going crazy. After what she was like with Jack Branning... that was an awful moment for Avani. "Priya and Ravi are both quick to get angry so who knows what Joel will face when they find out. We'll have to see!" Shane also teased big scenes ahead as he addressed Ben Wadey replacing Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw. He shared with us: "There have been a lot of positive changes and everyone's really embracing it. Everyone worries when you change Executive Producer but the handover has been brilliant. Chris and Ben are such big fans of the show and that's important. "Ben has already told me what is ahead. There's a lot of fireworks, there always are. There's a story that's about to kick in which will carry on through til after Christmas, an it's a big story. You thought the 40th was big, wait until you see this story that's all I'm saying."
