Koraput: Koraput district received the silver medal at the state-level Sampoornata Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh held at the Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The event, chaired by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi recognised outstanding performance under the aspirational district programme.

Collector (Koraput) Manoj Satyawan Mahajan received the award on behalf of the district. Koraput was recognised for achieving saturation in five key indicators. These are antenatal care (ANC) registration, screening for diabetes and hypertension, distribution of soil health cards, provision of school textbooks and electrification of secondary schools, according to an official release.
Adding to the district's achievements, Laxmipur and Lamtaput blocks were also awarded silver medals for their performance under the aspirational block programme, marking a significant milestone for the region.

BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Monday decided to set up 835 model primary schools under the Godabarish Mishra Adarsh Prathamika Vidyalaya programme in the first phase with an aim to bring transformation in the education system in line with the National Education Policy. This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan. As per the decision taken in the meeting, the Vidyalayas will act as feeder schools for the high schools in the state. Each school will be developed at a cost of Rs 7 crore. Schools with more than 100 students and having over 2 acre land and classes from Sishu Vatika to Class-VIII will be selected for development as model schools under the scheme. The chief minister emphasised that one Adarsh Vidyalaya will be constructed in each gram panchayat headquarters, taking into account the geographical location. Quality education will be provided on par with national standards, considering the socio-economic background of the students.

Agency: PTI Bhubaneswar, Aug 5 (PTI) The Odisha government has decided to develop 835 model primary schools, with each costing up to Rs 7 crore. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday. 'It was decided that 835 model schools will be built. These schools will work as feeders for high schools. An outlay of up to Rs 7 crore has been earmarked for each school," a statement said. Schools, which have more than 100 students, above 2 acres of land and provide education from nursery to class 8, will be developed as Godavarish Mishra Model Primary School, it said. Majhi said one model school will be built in each panchayat under the scheme, and the 835 schools will be developed in the first phase. He asked officers to provide free transport facilities for children living in remote areas to help them commute to school. He also directed officers to develop schools with adequate land in such a way that future upgradation to high school level can be done. At the meeting, the CM also stressed improving the teacher selection process. He emphasised strengthening the foundation of students by class 3, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, by improving infrastructure, adopting modern teaching methods and promoting the involvement of parents, alumni and local stakeholders. The meeting also discussed the state government's efforts to promote multidisciplinary learning in schools, along with vocational skills and experiential learning, to support the all-round growth of students, the statement said. Schools with over 100 students, classes from pre-primary (Shishu Vatika) to Class 8, and more than two acres of land will be developed as model schools under the scheme. During a review meeting on the scheme's implementation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasised establishing one model school in each gram panchayat headquarters based on geographical considerations. He stressed providing national-level quality education within the socio-economic context and ensuring transport facilities for students. Majhi instructed authorities to provide free transportation for students in remote and inaccessible areas. He directed that schools with adequate land be selected for development in a way that facilitates future upgradation to high schools. The Chief Minister urged departmental secretaries and officials to improve results by adopting technology and following best practices in teacher recruitment.
