Turkey Says It Will End Iraq Oil Pipeline Agreement in July 2026

Bloomberg21-07-2025
Turkey said it will end an agreement that allows the export of oil from Iraqi Kurdistan through its territory in July next year, according to a decree published in the Official Gazette.
Turkey is unhappy with the underutilization of the pipeline under the current deal and sees greater potential benefit for itself and Iraq from a new arrangement, according to a senior Turkish official with direct knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter. That suggests Turkish officials will seek to negotiate a new agreement with Baghdad, although Ankara has refrained from explicitly saying that.

Is Brazil Too Reliant on Russian Diesel? Oil Group Looks at Risks

Even as Brazil's oil producers won some relief after US President Donald Trump exempted the commodity from tariffs, fresh concerns are now hitting the South American nation over its reliance on Russian diesel. That's according to Roberto Ardenghy, head of the country's industry lobby group IBP, which represents companies including Chevron Corp. and Petrobras. The anxiety comes after Trump said he would impose a tariff on India's exports and a penalty for its energy purchases from Russia, the latest in a series of comments in which he expressed his anger at the lack of ceasefire in Ukraine. The move is causing other nations with ties to Russian energy to evaluate supply chains.

Istanbul Projects in Limbo as Mayor, City Officials Locked Up

Over 100 Istanbul officials have been detained since mid-March, including Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, who was arrested just days before he planned to announce his run for Turkey's president. Their arrests, seen by many as a crackdown on political dissent by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have not only disrupted day-to-day governance but also stalled critical projects — including those aimed at fortifying the city against earthquakes. Meanwhile, the central government is advancing its push for Kanal Istanbul, a multibillion-dollar canal project that stands to strain the region's resources. It had been strongly opposed by Imamoglu, who referred to it as 'a dagger intended to be thrust into the city's heart.'
