Kerala University VC misused his powers, alleges state's Higher Education Minister
'Anil Kumar can continue in office as only the university syndicate has the right to take action against the registrar,' she told reporters.

She also claimed that VC had gone beyond his powers in suspending the registrar.
The minister said the registrar had not violated any rule by cancelling the programme for displaying a picture of 'Bharat Mata', which was a religious symbol used by the RSS, at the venue.
The minister alleged that it was the Governor who violated the rules by attending a programme cancelled by the registrar of the university. The Governor was also trying to infiltrate the RSS symbol into the Raj Bhavan, she charged.

The state General Education Minister V Sivankutty also strongly criticised the VC, accusing him of "acting like a goon" of the Governor.
'It was not the registrar, but the Governor who showed disrespect to the statutes of the university by attending a programme cancelled by the registrar,' Sivankutty said.
Sivankutty said the powers of the Governor were limited under the Constitution. Even the Supreme Court had recently suggested that Governors should not exceed their authority, he said.

The minister alleged that the practice of using Governors for challenging governments that did not get along with the Centre has become a custom only after the BJP assumed power.

RSS to hold three-day Prant Pracharak meet in Delhi from July 4; centenary preparations high on agenda
NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will hold its three-day all-India Prant Pracharak meeting at Keshav Kunj in Delhi from July 4 to 6 to review organisational progress and deliberate on its centenary celebrations scheduled to begin later this year. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The centenary year, which will mark 100 years of the RSS's founding, will be launched on October 2 with the Vijayadashami Utsav in Nagpur, where Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat will address volunteers. A series of programmes will follow across the country, including local shakha-level celebrations for 8-10 days, special youth outreach drives, and Grih Sampark Abhiyan, where volunteers will visit households for 20 days to distribute literature and engage with the public. RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said on Thursday that all provinces have prepared plans for the centenary year, and these will be discussed in detail during the meeting. 'The 100 years theme is central to this baithak. The preparations by all prants will be reviewed, and guidance will be given on taking the message of the Sangh to all sections of society,' he said. The annual meeting, held after the summer training camps (prashikshan vargs), will also focus on organizational work, challenges in expanding to new areas, and adjustments needed in outreach strategies. This year, 100 training camps were conducted, mostly for students and volunteers under 40, along with 25 camps for those aged 40-60. Ambekar noted that a revised training pedagogy, introduced two years ago, was used for these camps. About 233 karyakartas, including Sah-Sarkaryavahs, department heads, and all-India organizational secretaries of 32 RSS-inspired affiliates, will participate in the deliberations, held under the guidance of Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale. Maharashtra Minister Nitesh Rane on Thursday slammed Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge over his recent statement to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), stating that Congress is never going to come to power. 'Congress is never going to come into power, let them daydream,' Rane said. Congress leader Priyank Kharge on Tuesday slammed the RSS over their General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's statement demanding reconsideration of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Alleging that the RSS wants to "alter" the Indian Constitution, Kharge said that these are the same people who "staged a protest when the constituent assembly debates were going on and burned the Constitution". On being asked if Congress is thinking of banning the RSS, Kharge said, 'We will see. It's not the first time they have been banned, right? Didn't Sardar Patel ban them? Then they went and fell at his feet. They pleaded no, no, we will follow the law of the land. After that, Indira Gandhiji banned it again. They went and said No, we will cooperate.
