How Paymentsave Helps Local Shops Grow

In today's competitive retail landscape, local shops face increasing pressure from online giants, changing consumer behaviour, and rising operational costs. For small businesses to thrive, they need more than just good products and service they need reliable, fast, and modern payment solutions.
Paymentsave is one of the companies empowering local businesses across the UK by transforming the way they handle payments. Here's how Paymentsave is helping local shops not only stay competitive but grow with confidence.
1. Seamless Card Payments That Build Trust
Customers expect convenience at checkout. Long queues or declined payments can hurt sales and damage a shop's reputation.
Paymentsave provides card machines that are fast, contactless-enabled, and compatible with all major payment methods, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. This flexibility ensures that local retailers never miss a sale and leave a lasting impression on customers.
2. Portable and Flexible for Any Retail Setup
Whether it's a high-street store, a market stall, or a mobile pop-up, flexibility is crucial. Paymentsave offers portable card machines that connect via 4G, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth — making them ideal for local vendors who operate in various locations or don't have a fixed internet line.
This mobility allows businesses to take payments anywhere, improving customer service and boosting revenue opportunities.
3. No Long-Term Contracts or Hidden Fees
Cash flow matters especially for small shops.
Paymentsave's transparent pricing with no long-term commitments or setup fees makes it easier for local businesses to get started with modern payment solutions. There are no hidden charges, and the predictable cost model supports better financial planning.
This simplicity reduces financial risk and encourages small businesses to adopt card payments confidently.
4. 24/7 UK-Based Customer Support
Technical issues during business hours can be devastating.
Paymentsave provides 24/7 customer support from UK-based experts, ensuring that local shop owners get the help they need fast. Whether it's setup assistance, troubleshooting, or just general questions, this level of service helps avoid downtime and keeps the checkout running smoothly.
Reliable support means business owners can focus on serving customers, not fixing machines.
5. Helps Build a Modern Business Image
A sleek, reliable card machine does more than just process payments it reflects professionalism. Shoppers are more likely to trust and return to a business that offers modern, seamless checkout experiences.
By offering contactless and mobile wallet options, Paymentsave helps local businesses match the expectations of today's customers and stand out from competitors still stuck with cash-only setups.
6. Scalable Solutions as Shops Expand
As a local shop grows, its payment needs evolve. Paymentsave offers scalable solutions from basic mobile terminals to more advanced integrated systems with sales tracking.
This makes it easier for shop owners to adapt and expand, whether opening another location or upgrading to an ePOS system.
7. Supports the UK's Independent Retail Economy
In a world dominated by big-box retailers, every transaction counts for local businesses. By offering affordable, secure, and flexible payment systems, Paymentsave contributes to the success of small retailers supporting the wider UK economy and helping high streets stay vibrant.
Paymentsave stands out as a practical payment solution for UK local shops that need reliable service without complexity. From fast card processing and portable devices to transparent pricing and real human support, the tools offered by Paymentsave are designed to help local businesses grow sustainably.
For small shop owners looking to modernise their payment system, streamline checkout, and increase customer satisfaction, Paymentsave is a trusted option worth exploring.

HMRC warning as millions of savers face 'hidden tax burden' this year

Millions of Brits are set to be hit by a 'hidden tax burden' this year, according to new HMRC figures, with a significant number expected to pay tax on their savings interest. Over 3.35 million individuals are forecasted to be taxed on savings interest in 2025 – when the interest earned on savings surpasses the tax-free allowance and becomes subject to income tax. This is a notable increase from just over three million in 2021. The data, uncovered through a Freedom of Information request by Nottingham Building Society, highlights the impact of fiscal drag due to frozen tax thresholds. Read more: Sharon Osbourne's gesture to Birmingham Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, during his tenure in 2022, prolonged the freeze on income thresholds until 2028, which will inadvertently pull millions more taxpayers into higher bands despite only modest rises in their earnings. While Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has pledged not to raise income tax rates, he has not dismissed the possibility of extending the freeze, often dubbed a "stealth tax", as reported by City AM. Projections indicate that nearly 40 million people will be paying income tax in the 2025 to 2026 period – a significant leap from 34.5 million in the 2022 to 2023 period. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) predicts that income tax will generate over £330 billion for the 2025 to 2026 period. Harriet Guevara, chief savings officer at Nottingham Building Society, commented that the new tax on interest figures "highlight a growing and often hidden tax burden on ordinary savers". "At a time when families are trying to build financial resilience amid frozen thresholds and rising living costs, the government should be doing more to reward and protect savers," Guevara stated. She criticised potential cash ISA reforms as the "wrong way" to propel the government's economic growth and investment objectives. "Reform should focus on simplifying and strengthening it, not introducing new barriers or caps," she further commented. The Chancellor has temporarily shelved cash ISA reforms following strong resistance from leading banks and building societies. Under existing regulations, savers can deposit up to £20,000 into a cash ISA to shield the returns from taxation. However, the Treasury was reportedly considering lowering this allowance to encourage investment in stocks and shares. The Building Society Association (BSA) cautioned that such a reduction could jeopardise Labour's homebuilding goals by making loans for households and businesses pricier and more difficult to secure.

Google Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro Price Slashed Ahead Of Pixel 10 Launch

Following the company's huge Pixel 8 Pro price drop , and giving away 12 months of Google AI Pro to Pixel 9 owners, Google is back with one last discount before the Pixel 10 lands. This story was updated on August 5th with new Pixel 9a deal details. Update below. This is the company's deepest discount for the Pixel 9 series yet. There will almost certainly be more after the Pixel 10 officially launches this month, but I don't see Google dropping the price by much more until next year. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw more aggressive trade-in deals, like June's promotion that paid out hundreds of dollars for years-old phones. Here are Google UK's current Pixel 9 deals. The star of the show here is the Pixel 9 Pro, which is down to £679 ($904.09). That is a solid price for Google's most powerful handset (the Pro XL has a bigger screen and battery, but the same 'pro' camera features). To quickly compare, Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra costs over £400 more (£1099 / $1463) even with the company's current £150 ($199.73) discount. Apple's iPhone 16 Pro remains, predictably, resolutely, at its full $999 price. Don't forget that the Pixel 9 Pro comes with one year of Google AI Pro for free. Google One subscribers also get 10% of the purchase back as store credit. It's not just Pixel phones, Google has also discounted the Pixel Buds Pro 2 by £30 ($39.95) (down to £189 / $251.65) and the Pixel Watch 3 by £100 ($133.15) (down to £249 / $331.54). Should You Wait For The Google Pixel 10? That depends on how patient you are. Google is promising an "exclusive offer' to people who sign up for marketing emails. I'd guess this is a free accessory or subscription for people who pre-order the phone. But even with pre-order deals, these phones will dramatically drop in price soon after their launch. Google has run some form of deal for its flagship Pixel phone almost every month since the Pixel 8. The price drops grow the further away the device is from its launch, as you can see with this Pixel 9 deal. Those discounts will start as early as October, especially as Samsung prepares to launch its Galaxy S25 FE and Apple's iPhone 17 lands. Update 08/05: U.S. Pixel 9 buyers aren't so lucky, the main suite of phones isn't on sale and likely won't be until after the Pixel 10 officially launches. The Pixel 9a is, however, $100 cheaper, which brings the price down to $399. This deal lasts until August 17th. The Pixel 8 Pro, too, is $400 cheaper, bringing the price down to $599. That $400 discount is a bit of marketing because the Pixel 8 Pro hasn't been $999 since 2024. Despite the chicanery, $599 is still a decent price for last year's flagship and it isn't much a downgrade from the Pixel 9 Pro. Read my story on that here. This is probably one of the last times you will be able to buy the Pixel 8 Pro directly from Google because it will be pushed down the pecking order after the Pixel 10 lands. Don't let that sway your purchasing decision, though, because Amazon, Best Buy and others will still carry it at even cheaper prices considering it is two generations old.
