Qatar Airways Boosts Flights to Casablanca in Winter 2025 Schedule

Morocco World5 days ago
Marrakech – Qatar Airways has announced an increase in its flight frequency to Casablanca as part of its expanded winter schedule for 2025.
The airline will raise its service from four to five weekly flights to meet growing demand and enhance connectivity through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport.
Casablanca, Morocco's economic capital and largest city, is among several key global destinations benefiting from increased frequency this winter.
This initiative is part of Qatar Airways' efforts to strengthen its presence in the Moroccan market, enabling it to reinforce connections between Africa, the Middle East, and the rest of the world.
For the Qatari carrier, Casablanca remains a privileged access point to the North African country's centuries-old heritage and contemporary prospects. The increased service aims to offer passengers more options for traveling to and from the city and to multiply connections to other destinations from the Doha hub.
The World's Best Airline, as voted by Skytrax in 2025 for a record ninth time, has introduced increased flights to over 15 global destinations for this year's winter season. The airline is facilitating demand for its services and continues to offer greater choice and connectivity, the company stated in a recent press release.
Among the most notable increases in the winter 2025-2026 schedule is London Heathrow service, which will now operate up to 10 daily flights – a record frequency for Qatar Airways on this route, complemented by British Airways' double daily flights.
According to the airline, this reflects strong demand for key destinations like London, Dublin, Cape Town, and São Paulo.
For the winter 2025-2026 season, Qatar Airways is increasing flight frequencies to several major cities including Abu Dhabi (up to 6 daily flights), Berlin (up to 21 weekly flights), Cape Town (up to 12 weekly flights), Dublin (17 weekly flights), Frankfurt (21 weekly flights), and Johannesburg (18 weekly flights).
The airline is also expanding service to London Heathrow (up to 10 daily flights), Madrid (17 weekly flights), the Maldives (up to 4 daily flights), Manchester (24 weekly flights), Phuket (up to 4 daily flights), São Paulo (18 weekly flights), Sharjah (7 daily flights), Tokyo Narita (14 weekly flights), and Toronto (7 weekly flights).

On the technology front, Qatar Airways' fleet now includes 54 Boeing 777s equipped with ultra-high-speed Starlink on-board Wi-Fi, free for all passengers.
Qatar Airways is the first airline in the world to fully equip and operate over 50 widebody aircraft with this technology, and the only carrier in the MENA region offering the service.
In a recent report, Ookla, the globally recognized leader in internet performance testing, spotlighted Qatar Airways as one of the best-performing airlines using in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity, with median download speeds of 120.6 Mbps.
This achievement follows the airline's milestone announcement on October 22, 2024, when Qatar Airways operated the world's first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 aircraft from Doha to London.
Qatar Airways currently flies to over 170 destinations worldwide, connecting through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport, the 'Best Airport in the Middle East' for 11 consecutive years.
Over the years, the airline has consistently expanded and enhanced its network by continually anticipating market trends and evolving travel demands to cater to both leisure and business travelers. Tags: Dohahamad international airportMorocco and QatarQatar Airways

Morocco Places Strategic Focus on Cooperation with Landlocked African Nations

Morocco, thanks to its geographical position and ongoing commitment, has made cooperation with landlocked countries, particularly in Africa, a strategic priority of its cooperation policy, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh said on Tuesday in Awaza, Turkmenistan. 'In a spirit of solidarity and shared development, Morocco continues, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to provide concrete support to landlocked African countries through strengthening South-South and triangular development projects, effectively contributing to improving the livelihood of beneficiaries and strengthening their development capacities,' Kayouh emphasized during the plenary session of delegations participating in the 3rd United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held until August 8. This commitment has been reflected through several initiatives, notably the Royal Initiative aimed at granting Atlantic Ocean access to Sahel countries, he noted, recalling that this initiative eyes a new framework for cooperation and joint development, by sharing Moroccan experience in infrastructure. This initiative is part of the Royal vision for a united, stable, and prosperous Africa and constitutes a strategic lever for the economic transformation of the Sahel countries by strengthening their strategic independence and promoting their great potential, he said, adding that it is also a great opportunity to integrate these countries into global value chains, thus opening up new prospects for growth and human, social, and economic development for Africa. This Moroccan approach to cooperation also tasks shape in several pioneering initiatives, such as the revitalization of the three Climate Commissions launched in 2016 at the African Action Summit, the Climate Change Competence Center, the Adaptation of African Agriculture to Climate Change (AAA) initiative, the initiative for Sustainability, Stability and Security in Africa (SSS), and the African Youth Climate Hub, he said. The minister further expressed Morocco's welcoming of the adoption of the new Awaza Action Plan for the decade 2024-2034, which reflects a collective commitment to strengthening landlocked developing countries' international cooperation in connectivity, energy transition, and economic flexibility. This conference stands as a crucial step in the development process of landlocked countries, ten years after the adoption of the Vienna Program of Action, according to the minister, with a view to assess progress made, commit to engage in strong partnerships and renew international support for the specific needs of these countries amidst a global context marred by multiple crises and growing tensions, he concluded. Morocco is represented at this event by a delegation led by minister Kayouh, including Morocco's Permanent Representative to the UN Omar Hilale, the Kingdom's Ambassador to the Republics of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan Mohamed Rachid Maaninou, as well as several diplomats and officials from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. Marhaba 2025 : Over 2.78 million Moroccans from abroad welcomed by August 4 (+10.37%)

A total of 2,789,197 members of the Moroccan diaspora had entered the country as of August 4, representing a 10.37% increase compared to 2024, announced Omar Moussa Abdellah, project manager and supervisor of the Marhaba operation at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, on Tuesday. Speaking on the «Obour» program on Radio Tanger Med, Moussa Abdellah stated that the number of vehicles entering Moroccan territory since the launch of the Marhaba operation on June 10 through August 4 reached 838,360, marking an increase of nearly 3.74%. He emphasized that these figures demonstrate a steady rise in arrivals of Moroccans living abroad through various border points this summer, countering unfounded rumors of a decline. He added that «the Marhaba 2025 operation is running exceptionally well and smoothly on all fronts». In this regard, he noted that Tanger Med Port alone accounted for 555,753 arrivals and 175,808 vehicles, representing 35.87% of total entries by sea and land. Meanwhile, Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca ranked first among air entry points, welcoming 320,395 arrivals, which represents 25% of all air entries by Moroccans living abroad. On the support side, Moussa Abdellah explained that the Foundation's teams stationed at border crossings and rest areas had provided a total of 45,465 services, including 2,858 medical interventions. These included emergency transport for about 50 cases to hospitals and assistance to more than 800 travelers facing vehicle breakdowns or other difficulties. For his part, Jaafar Ameyer, Director of the Tanger Med Passenger Port, reaffirmed that the port serves as «the main gateway for Moroccans residing abroad», noting that the number of arriving passengers and vehicles has grown by 6% and 4%, respectively, under the Marhaba 2025 operation. He also highlighted that port authorities, in coordination with various stakeholders, have implemented a range of measures to facilitate smoother transit through Tanger Med. This includes reduced processing times for customs and border procedures, thanks to the continuous mobilization of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration (ADII), and local authorities.

Royal Jordanian to Launch Direct Amman-Casablanca Flights in October

Marrakech – Royal Jordanian Airlines will begin operating regular direct flights between Amman and Casablanca starting mid-October, announced Jordanian Ambassador to Morocco Jumana Ghunaimat. The new air route aims to strengthen cooperation between the two kingdoms while supporting travel, tourism, and trade exchange. It will also reinforce cultural and economic ties between Jordan and Morocco. 'This direct flight represents a major step in consolidating bilateral relations,' Ghunaimat stated in a press declaration. The ambassador noted that the route will reduce travel time to approximately five hours, facilitating movement for travelers and businesspeople between both countries. Royal Jordanian, established in 1963 as Jordan's national carrier, currently operates a fleet of 26 aircraft serving 45 destinations worldwide from its hub at Queen Alia International Airport. The airline is a member of the oneworld alliance, which connects passengers to a network of 1,100 airports across more than 180 territories through 12 air partnerships. The Amman-Casablanca connection is considered a strategic move that will serve as an 'air bridge' linking the Arab East and West. It will promote mutual openness between the two peoples, according to the ambassador. She affirmed it demonstrates their shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields, including investment, tourism, culture, and education. This announcement follows earlier developments from late February, when the ambassador stated that the Jordanian government had submitted an official request to exempt Moroccan citizens from visa requirements. That request came as part of preparations for launching the direct air route, which was initially expected to be established within two months of the February announcement. The visa exemption initiative was designed to facilitate travel movement and strengthen bilateral relations between the countries, potentially boosting tourism and commercial exchange once the direct flights begin operating.
