On May 27, Paul Jose Mavely, a longtime Dubai resident of 38 years, was announced as the winner of the latest Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire draw (Series 503) via the official Instagram account. Mavely, who works as a site supervisor for a small contracting firm, had previously won the same $1 million jackpot back in 2016, making this his second lucky win.
As reported by Khaleej Times, Mavely has consistently taken part in the Dubai Duty-Free draw since it launched in 1999. Instead of playing solo, he teamed up with friends over the years to pool funds and boost their odds. For his recent win, Mavely and 17 friends collectively bought ticket number 3532 online on May 19. Their combined effort and consistent participation in the draw ultimately rewarded them with a life-changing million-dollar prize.
'I'm very thankful to Dubai Duty-Free for this second win," Mavely, a father of two, told Khaleej Times. His initial jackpot win in 2016 was similarly a group victory, shared with nine friends.
On May 28, Dubai Duty Free's official Instagram account announced Paul Jose Mavely as the winner. 'Another millionaire moment—again! Huge congratulations to Mr Mavely from India for winning his second US$1 million with Dubai Duty-Free today!" the caption read.
Posted on May 28, the announcement quickly gained over 200 likes and attracted numerous comments.
A user humorously remarked, 'Congrats! I want to learn the secrets behind Indian luck."
Another pointed out the significant investment, saying, 'Spending 1000 on a ticket is no small amount."

The Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire lottery, established in 1999, gives participants a chance to win a $1 million prize. Each draw is limited to just 5,000 tickets, priced at AED 1,000 (around Rs 22,700), excluding a 5 per cent VAT.
Tickets can be purchased either online or at Dubai International Airport's duty-free shops. The lottery is held twice a month and is open to people of all nationalities, with no need for participants to be physically present in Dubai during the draw.

What was SC order on stray dogs On August 11, a bench of Justices Pardiwala and R Mahadevan took a stern view of the stray dog menace and ordered the Delhi-NCR to start removing stray dogs from all localities and house them in dedicated dog shelters to be set up by civic authorities. It said that all localities should be made free of stray dogs and there should not be any compromise, while making it clear that no captured animal will be released back on the streets. It also ordered contempt proceedings against any individual or organisation that attempts to obstruct the authorities from carrying out the capture drive.
