Radhika Yadav killing: Autopsy report reveals four bullets hit tennis player, says doctor
"The postmortem of the deceased tennis player is completed. Four bullets were taken out from Radhika Yadav's body," Dr. Deepak Mathur, from the team of doctors who performed the postmortem, said, reported PTI.
Radhika Yadav's father later confessed to the crime, and has been arrested by the police.
According to officials, Deepak Yadav confessed that he shot at Radhika because he was often taunted for living off her income.
Police, in a statement, claimed that the tennis academy Radhika set up, was the bone of contention between the father and the daughter — a conflict fueled further by people's taunts.
"Her father was not happy with it," PTI quoted Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Singh as saying.
"On many occasions, he had told her to shut it, but she did not agree. Angered, he shot her thrice," the spokesperson added.
According to a report by NDTV, Radhika had sustained a shoulder injury during a recent match, which led her to take a break from playing tennis. However, instead of stepping away from the sport altogether, she chose to coach young tennis players and had set up her on tennis academy in Gurugram's Sector 57.
It was not just Radhika's tennis academy that was at the core of her fatal killing.
The tennis player had appeared in a music video last year alongside an independent artist. This may have caused tensions within her household, with police investigating this angle behind the tennis player's murder, reported PTI.
The music video in question, titled "KARWAAN", was produced by Zeeshan Ahmad and released in 2024 under the LLF Records label. It featured Radhika Yadav alongside artist INAAM in multiple scenes.
While Radhika and her father were discussing the shutting down of the tennis academy, an argument broke out and Deepak shot his daughter in a fit of rage.
Deepak Yadav, using his licensed revolver, fired three bullets at Radhika while she was in the kitchen — one striking her neck, and two hitting her in the back, TOI had reported earlier.

ED crossing all limits: SC on agency summoning lawyers for giving legal advice
New Delhi, Jul 21 (PTI) The Enforcement Directorate is 'crossing all limits", the Supreme Court said on Monday as it expressed serious concern over the agency summoning advocates for offering legal advice or representing clients during investigations. It also called for guidelines on the matter. The remarks from an apex court bench of Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran came during a suo motu hearing initiated by the court to address the implications of such actions on the independence of the legal profession. This comes in the wake of the ED summoning senior lawyers Arvind Datar and Pratap Venugopal. 'The communication between a lawyer and the clients is privileged communication and how can the notices be issued against them… they are crossing all limits," the CJI said. 'Guidelines should be framed," he said while responding to submissions that recent ED notices to legal professionals like senior advocate Datar could have a chilling effect on the practice of law. Attorney General R Vennkataramani and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the issue had been taken up at the highest level and the probe agency asked to not issue notices to the lawyers for rendering legal advice. 'Lawyers cannot be summoned for rendering legal opinions," the solicitor general said. He, however, said there have been attempts to malign institutions by creating false narratives. Advocates stressed that summoning lawyers, especially for giving legal opinions, was setting a dangerous precedent. 'If this continues, it will deter lawyers from offering honest and independent advice," a lawyer said, adding that even district court lawyers were facing undue harassment. The attorney general acknowledged the concerns and said, 'What is happening is certainly wrong." The CJI responded that the court had also been surprised by reports it came across. However, the solicitor general cautioned against forming opinions based on media narratives. 'There is a concerted effort to target institutions. Please don't go by interviews and news," the law officer said. 'We don't watch the news, haven't seen YouTube interviews. Only last week I managed to watch a few movies," said the CJI, who was indisposed last week. When the solicitor general referred to politicians, accused in scams, attempting to shape public opinion, the CJI said, 'We said it… don't politicise this." 'The moment I heard about Mr Datar, I immediately brought it to the notice of the highest executive," Mehta said. The bench directed all parties, including the Supreme Court Bar Association(SCBA), represented by its president and senior advocate Vikas Singh, to file comprehensive notes on the issue and allowed intervention applications. The matter is now listed for further hearing on July 29. 'Ultimately, we are all lawyers," the CJI remarked, adding that arguments in court should not be viewed adversarially. On June 20, the ED said it had directed its investigating officers not to issue summons to any advocate in money laundering investigations being carried out against their clients. An exception to this rule can only be made after 'approval" by the agency's director, it added. The ED, tasked with combating money laundering crimes, issued a circular for guidance of its field formations, stating that 'no summons" should be issued to any advocate in violation of Section 132 of the Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023. 'Further, if any summons needs to be issued under the exceptions carved out in proviso to Section 132 of the BSA, 2023, the same shall be issued only with the prior approval of the director, ED," the agency said. The summons issued to these advocates was condemned by the SCBA and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association, which called the move a 'disturbing trend" that struck at the very foundations of the legal profession. The bar bodies had urged the CJI to take suo motu cognisance of the matter. On June 25, an apex court bench of Justices K V Viswanathan and N Kotiswar Singh said allowing police or probe agencies to directly summon lawyers for advising clients would seriously undermine the autonomy of the legal profession and was a 'direct threat" to the independence of justice administration. top videos View all It observed that the legal profession was an integral component of the process of administration of justice. The order came when the top court was hearing a plea of a Gujarat-based advocate, challenging an order of the high court passed on June 12. 7/11 train blasts case: After acquitting all 12 accused, HC says it did its duty
Mumbai, Jul 21 (PTI) The Bombay High Court bench of Justices Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak, that on Monday acquitted all the 12 accused in the July 2006 serial train blasts in Mumbai, said it did its duty as judges. The bench quashed the conviction of the 12 persons by a special court in 2015, noting the prosecution had 'utterly failed" to prove the case and that it was hard to believe the accused committed the crime. The prosecution has failed to even bring on record the type of bombs used in the crime and that the evidence relied on by it was not conclusive to convict the accused persons, it said. The witness statements and alleged recoveries made from the accused have no evidentiary value, the HC said. After the court pronounced its verdict, advocate Yug Chaudhary, appearing for the accused, said the judgment restores faith in humanity and judiciary as the 12 accused have been languishing in jail for 19 years for a crime they have not committed. The bench then remarked that it was only doing its duty. 'We did our duty as judges. That is the responsibility cast upon us," the bench said. Chaudhary told the HC that it was indeed a credit to the institution that 12 persons charged with the most serious offences could be held innocent after all these years and acquitted. 'It is a credit to the independence of the institution. More than restoring faith in the judiciary, this judiciary restores faith in humanity. This judgment will always be a sign of hope in times to come," Chaudhary said. Senior advocate S Murlidhar, who appeared for some of the accused, also thanked the high court for its patient hearing and the acquittal. During arguments in the case, Murlidhar, a former high court judge, submitted that the accused spent the better parts of their life in jail despite being innocent. He had alleged a pattern wherein investigating agencies show 'communal bias" while probing terror related cases. The high court on Monday refused to confirm the September 2015 judgment of the special court convicting the 12 persons. Of the 12, five were sentenced to death while the remaining seven were given life imprisonment. Seven blasts ripped through Mumbai local trains at various locations on the western line, killing more than 180 persons and injuring several others on July 11, 2006. Since 2015, the pleas pertaining to the 7/11 blasts case were not taken up even after the matter came up for hearing before 11 different benches. In 2024, Ehtesham Siddiqui, who was handed the death penalty, filed an application in the HC seeking its intervention, expeditious hearing and disposal of the appeals. After this, a special bench of Justices Kilor and Chandak was set up to hear the appeals last year. On January 31 this year, the bench, after hearing the appeals on a daily basis for five months, reserved its order.
