Hulk Hogan passes away: 5 must-watch movies that capture his Hollywood legacy
If you're looking to celebrate the larger-than-life persona of Hulk Hogan, here are 5 of his most memorable movies that perfectly capture his Hollywood journey. 1. No Holds Barred (1989)
Hogan's first big break in Hollywood came with No Holds Barred , a wrestling action-drama that was made during his peak WWF days. He played Rip Thomas, a beloved wrestling champ who faces off against a brutal underground fighter. It's classic '80s over-the-top storytelling with Hogan right at the center of it all. The film was produced by Vince McMahon and remains a cult favorite among old-school wrestling fans. 2. Suburban Commando (1991)
In this sci-fi comedy, Hogan plays an intergalactic warrior who crash lands on Earth and ends up living with a suburban family. Yes, it's as wild as it sounds—but that's what makes it so fun. With cheesy humor, space gadgets, and Hogan flexing both muscles and comedic timing, Suburban Commando is a nostalgic ride for anyone who grew up in the early '90s. 3. Mr. Nanny (1993)
Probably Hogan's most well-known comedy, Mr. Nanny sees him take on the role of a former wrestler turned babysitter for two bratty kids. It's goofy, predictable, and full of slapstick gags—but it also shows Hogan's willingness to poke fun at his tough guy image. The movie didn't win over critics, but it became a childhood favorite for many and still has its charm. 4. Santa with Muscles (1996)
This bizarre holiday comedy has Hogan donning a Santa suit and losing his memory, only to believe he's the real Santa Claus. He ends up saving an orphanage from an evil scientist. It's bizarre, ridiculous, and absolutely Hogan. The film has become somewhat of a guilty pleasure for fans and is often revisited during Christmas as a 'so-bad-it's-good' classic. 5. Thunder in Paradise (1993)
Originally a made-for-TV movie that led to a short-lived TV series, Thunder in Paradise featured Hogan as a former Navy SEAL who teams up with a buddy to take on high-stakes missions using a high-tech boat. It's got action, beach vibes, and Hogan doing what he does best—kicking butt with heart. It's pure '90s action cheese and exactly what fans loved about his on-screen presence.

The film opened in the U.K. at the Rialto Theatre in London in August 1975 and in the U.S. the following month at the UA Westwood in Los Angeles. Initial response was mixed to negative, but it soon became a hit as a midnight movie, when audiences began participating with the film at the Waverly Theater in New York City in 1976. In 1972, he and King won Grammys for album of the year (Tapestry) and record of the year ('It's Too Late'). Adler was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013 (receiving the Ahmet Ertegun Award, presented by Cheech & Chong, for whom he produced four Gold albums). He received a trustees award from the Recording Academy in 2019. The Rocky Horror Picture Show has had a long afterlife. Brooke Hogan Explains Why She Chose Not to Attend Dad Hulk Hogan's Funeral: 'People Grieve in Many Ways'
The late WWE superstar was laid to rest in a private funeral in Clearwater, Florida, on Tuesday, Aug. 5 after his death on July 24NEED TO KNOW Brooke Hogan has shared the reasons behind why she attend her late father Hulk Hogan's funeral The wrestling icon was laid to rest in a private funeral in Clearwater, Florida, on Tuesday, Aug. 5 Hulk died on July 24 from a heart attack at the age of 71Brooke Hogan is opening up about why she chose not to attend her late father Hulk Hogan's funeral. The late WWE superstar was laid to rest in a private funeral in Clearwater, Florida, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 12 days after he died of a heart attack at age 71 on July 24. The service took place at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Clearwater, the city where Hulk, born Terry Gene Bollea, had been living with his wife, Sky Daily. Guests including Kid Rock, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were in attendance, but Brooke — who hasn't been in contact with her father for the last two years — didn't go to the ceremony. Later on Tuesday, Brooke, 37, shared a message on Instagram explaining her decision not to attend, alongside multiple photos showing herself, her husband Steven Oleksy, 39, and their twins Oliver and Molly — whom they welcomed in January 2025 — at the beach. Brooke wrote, "My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn't want one. And although I know people grieve in many ways - and I'm so grateful for all celebrations and events organized to honor him, as his daughter, I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew way that made me feel the closest to him." "The only thing missing today was him in is pop up lawn chair watching the waves... and the sunset 💔," she added. The former reality star continued, "Daddy, we honored you in the simplest way that agreed with my soul. We took our babies to the beach, and put them in the same salty waters you loved." "Molly loved the water. I think she'll be a 'little fish' as you called me. We love you and honor the things that made you so special. Every grain of sand and every wave reminded me of being your beach baby, and brought us closer to you. I pray you are at peace and know how dearly I love you," Brooke continued. She concluded, "Rest in heaven, Daddy ❤️" Brooke also shared a post on her Instagram Stories about taking their babies to Hulk's "favorite place ... the beach" to celebrate him. "We will be celebrating your life and all our good memories while we have our feet in the same saltwater you loved. Until we meet again, daddy," Brooke added alongside a white love heart emoji and a throwback photo of herself and her dad. Brooke's message came after she appeared in a guest spot on the Bubba the Love Sponge Show earlier on Tuesday, questioning why an autopsy hadn't been performed on her late father before he was cremated. 'I do think it's weird that no autopsy was performed, because yes, you can have a heart attack but what was the reason for the heart attack is the question,' Brooke told her father's ex-best friend on the podcast. 'Because he was up and doing breathing exercises and stuff. That means that the surgery on his heart was a success and it was working," she added. Hulk suffered from atrial fibrillation, a common disorder that causes irregular heart beats, and also had a history of leukemia at the time of his death, according to medical records obtained by PEOPLE. Brooke said her father 'had so many ablations and cardioversions' in the past, which were interventions done to treat his symptoms and to prolong his life. 'I remember back then praying, 'Dear God, please don't let this be the day my dad dies,' ' she recalled. 'But he got through all of it.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. After Hulk's death, Brooke paid tribute to him with a lengthy, emotional message on Instagram, which included, 'When he left this earth, it felt like part of my spirit left with him. I felt it before the news even reached us." "... I know he's at peace now, out of pain, and in a place as beautiful as he imagined. He used to speak about this moment with such wonder and hope. Like meeting God was the greatest championship he'd ever have," she added. Read the original article on People

Hulk Hogan's daughter explains her personal reason for not attending her father's funeral
Brooke Hogan Oleksy may not have honored her father Hulk Hogan in the most traditional of ways, but she wants her followers and his fans to know how she did remember the legendary wrestler. 'My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn't want one,' she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post shared Tuesday in reference to the elder Hogan, who died last month at the age of 71. 'And although I know people grieve in many ways - and I'm so grateful for all celebrations and events organized to honor him, as his daughter, I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew how…privately…the way that made me feel the closest to him.' That way, she explained, turned out to be 'in the simplest way that agreed with my soul.' 'We took our babies to the beach, and put them in the same salty waters you loved,' Hogan Oleksy wrote. The post included a series of photos showing her, her husband Steven Oleksy and their infant twins enjoying a day at the beach. She wrote in the caption that 'the only thing missing today was him in is pop up lawn chair watching the waves…' The younger Hogan appeared with her father, brother Nick and mother Linda on the VH1 reality series 'Hogan Knows Best' which ran from 2005 to 2007. Hogan Oleksy has been out of the spotlight for years and privately married Steven Oleksy, a former professional hockey player, in 2022. The couple welcomed fraternal twins, Oliver and Molly, in January 2025. The daughter of the wrestling great reportedly became estranged from her parents over the years and in March 2025 her mother Linda, whose divorce from Hulk Hogan was finalized in 2009, posted a since-deleted video saying her daughter no longer spoke to her or her ex-husband. In responding to her mother's claims, Hogan Oleksy wrote in a statement posted on social media at the time that she ordinarily tries to avoid speaking publicly, 'But I have my own family now and it's affecting more than just me at this point.' 'No contact with my Mom has nothing to do with my Dad, and no contact with my Father has nothing to do with my Mother,' she wrote. 'This also pertains to to my Dad's second and third, now current wife. This decision was made based purely on how they have each dealt with me directly my entire life.' Following her father's death, Hogan Oleksy also shared a statement revealing that despite controversy and public misconceptions, the bond with her father 'has never broken, not even in his final moments.'
