Walmart announces major store shakeup set to transform how customers shop

Walmart is taking its show on the road — literally — with a fleet of new mobile stores. The mobile pop-up stores on wheels will be rolling into parks, festivals, and concerts across America and are designed to appeal to Gen Z. Dubbed 'your FYP on wheels,' the pop-up trucks feature Gen Z-friendly themes like Rodeo Dream, K-Pop Era, and Nature Break. It is a nod to TikTok's 'For You Page' (FYP), the first screen users see when they open the app, filled with algorithm-curated videos tailored to their tastes. Inside, shoppers will find giveaways, merch, photo ops, and immersive experiences designed to go viral — while promoting Walmart's brand as younger, cooler, and social media–savvy. The trucks will crisscross the country now through November, popping up at festivals, marathons, parks, and major events in cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, and New York. Scroll down to see the full list. 'Walmart is hitting the road with a fleet of head-turning delivery trucks, packed with experiences to level up what you love,' the chain said in. 'Whatever you're into — we get it, we have it, and we can deliver it. Who knew?' they added. Walmart, the biggest retailer in the US, has been pushing hard into the e-commerce space, even directly competing with Amazon during its Prime Day sales event this year. Thanks to its aggressive push — including running its event for almost a week and extending its discounts in-store — Walmart outperformed Amazon across several key metrics. Spending on soared 24 percent compared to 2024, Bloomberg data showed — six times faster than Prime Day's year‑over‑year growth. Web traffic told a similar story, with Walmart surging 14 percent while Amazon stayed flat, according to Similarweb. However, some of Walmart's digitization efforts have been met with pushback from the brand's loyal customers. Electronic shelf labels — tiny digital price tags that can change in real time — have become particularly unpopular. The technology is designed to save staff time, reduce paper waste, and allow for easier inventory updates but customers fear sneaky price hikes and vanishing deals. Sam's Club, Walmart's membership discount stores, rolled out AI-powered 'Scan & Go' tech earlier this year. The trucks will stop at major music events, marathon festivals and parks across the country The scanners allow shoppers skip the line and walk straight out the door once they're done shopping. The move is controversial because it uses a network of cameras and sensors to track shoppers and their carts. In addition, the checkout-free experience requires all customers to use a smartphone and download the store's app. This could pose a challenge to older shoppers who may struggle with technology. Disney fan, 58, who SOBBED at seeing Mickey Mouse opens up about emotional moment: 'I forgot I was an adult'

Meeting their dream character at Disney World can certainly be exciting and even overwhelming for young kids, and it's completely normal for them to get emotional in the moment. But what about adults? One 58-year-old woman recently sparked a conversation about the topic after she broke down in tears while chatting with Mickey Mouse at the beloved theme park. Tracy M Sommer, from Mohawk, New York, was visiting the Happiest Place on Earth with daughter Savannah when they decided to get in line for the Minnie and Mickey meet and greet. As a long time Disney fan she knew the moment would be special, but never expected to get emotional. She told the Daily Mail that as she was waiting for her turn she began remembering her first family vacation to Disney with her own parents decades prior, when she was only 10 years old, and started missing them intensely. Memories of her and her daughters watching Disney movies together when they were younger also came flooding back to her. Upon walking into the room and seeing the characters, she became 'overwhelmed with emotions' and started shedding 'happy tears.' 'When I met Mickey I knew he was not real but for those few minutes every good and painful memory left and I said, 'Thank you Mickey I finally got to meet you,' and I cried,' she said of the moment to the Daily Mail. 'Mickey and Minnie were so comforting with their hugs and gestures. I got caught up in the moment and forgot I was an adult. It was a special healing moment for me.' Afterwards, Savannah took a short video of Tracy reflecting on the moment while on the phone with her husband, John, and uploaded it to her Instagram, where it went viral. 'The magic of Disney at every age. So thankful I got to experience this moment with my momma! Makes me cry still. Thank you @disneyparks,' she captioned it. 'Smiling because moments like this remind me that it's my mom's first time living too,' she added in a text overlay on the video. 'I feel blessed to be a part of it.' In the clip, a clearly emotional Tracy could be heard talking on the phone to her husband. 'I finally met Mickey,' she said between sobs, as he responded, 'Are you crying?' 'A little bit, I know it's stupid that I'm crying, and I'm 58 years old,' Tracy added as she wiped away tears. 'It's not stupid,' Savannah interjected. 'That's the magic of Disney at every age.' Tracy told the Daily Mail that Disney was especially important to her family because her eldest daughter Kaylee became seriously ill as a child and watched a ton of Disney films while she was healing. 'We almost lost her. But Disney helped her heal,' she explained. The video got over 77,000 views and hundreds of Instagram users rushed to the comment section to share their thoughts. Most people were moved by the 'sweet' moment and praised Disney for spreading the magic for people of all ages. In response to those who may judge her emotional response, Tracy pointed out that all adults have 'an inner child.' 'I am sure that some people might think it's immature of me but I am humbled and blessed by the comments of so many who felt the same way,' she said. 'I truly feel every adult has an inner child... The world is a tough place and characters make people happy. Disney will always be special to me.'

Gary Lineker ‘can't wait' to host new ITV show The Box after BBC exit

Former Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker is to present a new ITV game show after his exit from the BBC. The former footballer, 64, who left the BBC One sports show in May, said he was excited and 'can't wait' to host The Box. Advertisement In the show, 10 yellow boxes house a celebrity contestant who will be transported to unknown locations, before being released to face whatever game awaits on the other side of the door. Each week two players will face The Duel, a finale in which the loser leaves the competition for good. Lineker, who had presented Match Of The Day since 1999, said an emotional goodbye in an early departure from the broadcaster on May 26th. It followed a social media row after he shared a post about Zionism, which featured a depiction of a rat, historically an antisemitic insult. Advertisement Gary Lineker (Ian West/PA) Lineker, who was the BBC's highest-paid presenter, issued an unreserved apology for the social media video he shared, which led to his early exit from the BBC. Lineker was due to host BBC Sport's coverage of the FA Cup in the 2025-26 season. Lineker said: 'I can't wait to host The Box. I've always felt right at home in the box on a football pitch and whilst this is a different proposition, the fundamentals are similar. 'The contestants will have to quickly and masterfully work out how each game works, whilst also trying to get ahead of the competition to take control. Advertisement 'It's going to be unpredictable and thrilling to watch, and I'm excited that I get to have a front row seat to all the action.' Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment, reality and daytime commissioning at ITV, said: 'Gary is the perfect fit for The Box, an entertaining, exhilarating and immersive new format.' Dan Adamson, chief content officer at production company Twofour, added: 'We're delighted to be making The Box with ITV and Seefood TV. 'From the first time we saw those iconic yellow boxes open in an incredible location we were hooked. Now, with Gary on board, we have the ideal master of ceremonies to make this real event telly, he is after all a man who knows what it's like under pressure in the box. Advertisement 'He's sure to raise the competitive spirit as our cast bursts out of those boxes, into unknown, ambitious and spectacular challenges.' The Box was first launched on TV2 in Norway in January this year. ITV's version of the show will be filmed in the UK later this year and air in 2026. Lineker also co-hosts The Rest Is Football podcast, which moved to internet sports streaming platform DAZN after he left the BBC. Advertisement
