Kaizer Chiefs: Ex-Pirates duo of Mako and Monyane's expectations

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has touched on recruitment at the club and how Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane are treated no differently. The duo were signed after parting ways with Orlando Pirates in June. Some fans have were under the impression that Amakhosi only signed the two players because they were from Pirates. Kaze though, rubbished the claims, saying the club signs quality players who can fit into their system. Both players have already made their debuts for Kaizer Chiefs this season. 'When you recruit a player, you don't recruit a player differently because he comes from the other side [Pirates]. You recruit a player because of the quality that he has and the work that you see he could be able to do to help the team,' Kaze said, as quoted by SPORTSWIRE . 'I believe that they have already experienced the pressure where they come from, the amount of pressure that we have. It's not only one team, but there are also a lot of teams that are big clubs, and when you come from a big club, then you know the expectations,' he added. Kaizer Chiefs have been the team to watch this season, having won back-to-back league matches and currently top the Betway Premiership. Some of the standout arrivals include Asanele Velebayi from Cape Town Spurs and Siphesihle Ndlovu from SuperSport United. The changes at Kaizer Chiefs are not just about numbers; they speak to a strategy aimed at reshaping the team's playing identity from the backline to the forward line. From the day he donned Kaizer Chiefs' badge, Inacio Miguel has carried himself with a quiet authority. He's not just a figurehead, he's part of a leadership engine that pulls the entire squad forward. This confidence and aggression have proved vital in lifting morale and performance early this season, with two wins out of two over Stellenbosch FC and Polokwane City. The 29-year-old Angolan was officially named the new captain after Yusuf Maart left Amakhosi to play his football in Austria for SV Ried. The former Petro de Luanda star has settled seamlessly into the role, but has been quick to point out that the weight of the captaincy extends far beyond himself. Leadership, he insists, is shared. According to the Kaizer Chiefs skipper, his teammates Brandan Petersen, Zitha Kwinika, and Reeve Frosler are captains without armbands… Full story here.
