Amitabh Bachchan
's shocking injury on the shooting set of his 1982 movie 'Coolie' became a serious topic at that time, and fans were praying for the recovery of their beloved actor. The incident occurred during a staged fight scene involving
Puneet Issar
and Bachchan.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Puneet indicated that medical negligence contributed to the worsening of Amitabh Bachchan's condition after the
accident
.
During the action scene, Puneet was supposed to hit Bachchan, and he had to throw some camera punches in return. Next was a shot where Puneet had to throw Big B against a board and then throw him onto a table.
Amitabh suggested to touch him during the hitting scene
Puneet further added that he did not touch Amitabh during the rehearsal, but the Sholay actor suggested that he could touch him and promised that he would back off. 'When I banged him against the board, it was reflex action that he came forward and the timing got screwed, and I hit him.
It was just an accident,' he revealed.
Puneet also stated that the medical care Amitabh received initially was insufficient, and he claims that it led to complications. 'It was negligence on the part of the doctors because they couldn't diagnose what was wrong with him — that his intestine was ruptured. If it was just a regular intestine rupture, they could have repaired it, but it went from bad to worse,' Puneet stated.
At the time, Amitabh was filming in Bengaluru, but his condition deteriorated rapidly, prompting an emergency airlift to Mumbai. He was declared clinically dead for a few moments before regaining consciousness.
