The Athletic declares Jeremiyah Love the best running back in college football for 2025
Love, a draft-eligible underclassman who stands an estimated six-feet tall and weighs an estimated 210 pounds, is author Dane Brugler's clear number one prospect.
Brugler says that Love has "instinctive athleticism", though he must get better at pass-catching. Brugler says Love is clearly the best running back in college football and has the talent to be the best playmaker in next year's draft.

"It doesn't take a trained eye to spot Love's exceptional talent. A springy athlete, he has the lateral agility to bounce between gaps and the immediate acceleration to burst through holes at full speed. He ties it all together with innate patience and reactionary movements — those traits plus his balance through contact make him a nightmare to tackle."
Brugler suggests Notre Dame may have won the national title over Ohio State had Love not been hampered by a knee injury. I think it's safe to say we're all hoping to see Love at 100 percent this fall.

Iowa football transfer DL 'too good to be true'
Iowa DL coach Kelvin Bell confirmed some of the hype surrounding South Dakota State transfer DT, Bryce Hawthorne this afternoon:'I'm really excited about him. He practices with high energy, he's a violent kid, super smart — he's almost too good to be true.' The focus of the Iowa Hawkeyes' transfer portal additions is on quarterback Mark Gronowski, and it makes sense. Iowa defensive line coach Kelvin Bell has high praise for Hawthorne already. "Yeah, he's pretty good. He's a guy that we had in camp twice, and I didn't take him. You can't always be right, but we got him, and I'm really excited about him. He practices with high energy. Violent kid. Super smart. Almost too good to be true," said Kelvin Bell, Iowa's defensive line coach. "He had a 4.0 last semester. This kid is not uptight, he's just one of the guys. Both him and Jonah have come into our room and fallen right into line with how we want to do things and the things that we value, and the things that are important are important to those guys, too. So, they were both really good gets," Bell continued. Like so many Iowa stars, Hawthorne was under-recruited out of high school. A product of Osseo Senior High School in Osseo, Minnesota, Hawthorne only received FCS offers to South Dakota State, Bemidji State, Minnesota State Mankato, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and St. Thomas. After choosing to join the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, Hawthorne blossomed. In two years, he appeared in 17 games, tallying 27 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks. He joins an experienced and talented defensive line group of Aaron Graves, Ethan Hurkett, and Max Llewellyn, whom he can spell and carve out his own role amid. Iowa women's basketball secures official visit date from 5-star target
After revealing Iowa was among her final five schools, five-star recruit Jenica Lewis locked in an official visit date with the Hawkeyes this fall. Per Dushawn London of 247Sports, Lewis will take her official visit to Iowa on Oct. 24. That's the weekend of Iowa football's "blackout" contest against Minnesota on Family Weekend. Along with Iowa, Lewis' five finalists include North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon and TCU. Lewis already took an official visit to Oregon and will visit North Carolina on Aug. 31, TCU on Sept. 12 and Notre Dame on Oct. 10. An in-state star, the 5-foot-10 guard averaged 18.0 points per game and shot 47% while leading Johnston to Iowa's Class 5A state title this past season. Lewis is a five-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings and is the top player from the state of Iowa. ESPN ranks Lewis as the nation's No. 19 overall recruit in the 2026 class. Lewis took an unofficial visit to Iowa City last February for Caitlin Clark's jersey retirement when Iowa upset then-No. 4 USC and JuJu Watkins among a group of other star-studded recruits. Iowa has been involved in Lewis' recruitment for years, offering the in-state standout all the way back in June of 2021. As Iowa looks to continue its position among women's basketball's elite, landing a talent like Lewis would go a long way toward cementing that remains the case. Former Notre Dame football wide receiver has been put on season-ending injured reserve
There was plenty of hype for former Notre Dame wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown after his sophomore season in South Bend where he caught 58 receptions for 961 yards and 9 touchdowns. The production would drop off significantly the following year, but he still opted to leave for the NFL. St. Brown was picked by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round, but never had more than 25-catches in any of his three seasons with them. He'd move onto the Chicago Bears in 2022 and 2023, against not putting up numbers to for his new team to play him more. St. Brown would then play with the New Orleans Saints, but only on their practice squad. This year brought a new opportunity with the San Francisco 49ers, but it started off very rocky. Signed on July 22nd, he'd get released about a month later, only to get resigned a few days after that on Aug. 5th. The bad luck with the 49ers continued on Friday, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that St. Brown has been put on season-ending Injured Reserve List. The move effectively ends St. Browns season before it even started, as he will now try and work back to playing, most likely with another organization.
