Real reason Love Island USA's Cierra Ortega was removed from villa

Cosmopolitan07-07-2025
Love Island USA contestant Cierra Ortega was removed from the Love Island Villa during last night's episode following fan backlash over an old social media post from Ortega.
During last night's episode (6 July) which aired on Peacock, show narrator Iain Stirling made the official announcement Cierra had departed, telling viewers 15 minutes in: "Welcome back to Love Island USA, Cierra has left the villa due to a personal situation, leaving Nic [Vansteenberghe] officially single."
Earlier last week Love Island USA viewers uncovered a social media post by Ortega in which she spoke about the cosmetic work she had done, and made a racial slur towards the Asian community while referencing her eyes.
Following the discovery of this slur, Love Island USA viewers took to social media demading Ortega be removed from the villa.
While Cierra has not addressed the comments herself since leaving the Villa, her parents have responded to her removal.
Writing on Cierra's Instagram Story, the pair acknowledged what had happened but also asked for compassion for their daughter who they were yet to see as she had not yet returned home.
They said: "As Cierra's parents, this has been one of the most painful weeks of our lives. We've seen the posts, the headlines, the hurt and the hate. And while Cierra hasn't seen any of it yet, we have. And so have the people who lover her.
"We're not here to justify or ignore what's surface. We understand why people upset and we know accountability matters. But what's happening online right now now has gone far beyond that.
"The treats. The cruel messages. The attacks on her family, her friends, even her supporters, it's heartbreaking. It's uncalled for. And no one deserves that kind of hate, no matter what mistake they've made.
"While Cierra is not in the Villa anymore, she is still away. She's hasn't had the chance to process of this or speak for herself. But we know our daughter. We know her heart. And when she returns, we believe she'l face this with honesty, growth and grace.
"While she'll always be our little girl, she's also a woman, one who will take responsibility in her own time and her own voice. Until then, we're simply asking for compassion. For patience. For basic human decency. Not just for her, but for everyone caught in the middle of this. Thank you to those who've continued to show love, even when it's not easy. With love, her family."
Cierra is the second Love Island USA contestant to be removed this series following unearthing of racial slurs.
Earlier in the series Yulissa Escobar was removed from the Villa in the second episode after it was discovered she had repeatedly used the N-word during a podcast interview prior to appearing on the show.
Since her departure she has apologised for her actions.
Love Island USA continues on Peacock

Grimm Reboot: Elizabeth Tulloch Offers ‘Exciting' Update on Potential Peacock Series — Would She Return?

It's been seven months since news first broke of a Grimm reboot being developed at Peacock, and we've been practically woging with anticipation ever since. So when TVLine recently connected with original series star Elizabeth Tulloch, we couldn't resist asking for an update, and the woman formerly known as Juliette (or Eve, depending on the day) was happy to oblige. More from TVLine Suzanne Rogers Exiting Days of Our Lives...?! Rep Addresses Wild Rumor Peyton Meyer Exits Days of Our Lives: Did Doug Williams Redeem Himself Before Leaving Salem? Days of Our Lives Snags Two-Season Renewal at Peacock, Keeping It Streaming Through 2028 'I know there's a script being written, and I know that David [Giuntoli] met with them,' Tulloch tells us. 'I don't think they would do a reboot or a spinoff or whatever it's going to be without David's involvement.' Grimm originally aired for six seasons (2011–2017) on NBC, starring Giuntoli as Nick Burkhardt, a detective who descends from a long line of Grimms — aka slayers of fairytale monsters known as Wesen. 'It's pretty exciting,' Tulloch says of the show's still-growing fanbase, which she attributes to the show's multiple streaming homes. 'A lot of people are sort of finding Grimm. We did 123 episodes, and it has like 90% on Rotten Tomatoes still.' As for whether Tulloch would like to reprise one or both of her roles in a potential continuation of Grimm… you'll have to watch the interview: In addition to Giuntoli and Tulloch, Grimm also starred Claire Coffee, Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Bree Turner, Reggie Lee, Sasha Roiz and Jacqueline Toboni. The series was created by David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, who also served as co-showrunners. Both are reportedly involved in Peacock's potential reboot, along with original series producers Lynn Kouf, Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television. Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva, CSI, The Blacklist) is writing and executive-producing the new series. At the time of the original report, a rep for Peacock told TVLine that it had no additional information to share. Hit PLAY on the video above to watch TVLine's interview with Tulloch, then drop a comment with your dream project below. Are you hoping for a direct continuation in which Nick passes the torch to a new Grimm? Or perhaps you'd rather get a spinoff following specific characters? 'Jurassic World Rebirth' releases on digital this week: Where to watch

It's dinos vs. humans once again with the release of "Jurassic World Rebirth," the seventh film in the popular franchise. In the five years after the events of "Jurassic World Dominion," the planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs and those remaining only exist in "isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived," the film's synopsis says. "The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind," it adds. Zora Bennett (Scarlet Johansson) is tasked to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. Stream Jurassic World Rebirth USA TODAY's Brian Truitt gave the film ★★½ out of four, writing "director Gareth Edwards at least tries something different by throwing a heist movie into the usual perilous adventure." "But homages to Steven Spielberg's 1993 original, a starry cast (including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali) and dinos aplenty can only do so much when saddled with generic characters and a rickety plot," Truitt says, adding "this franchise probably should have been extinct a while ago. We're stuck with it, though, so might as well go with the pterosaur flow." Here is what to know about the digital release for "Jurassic World Rebirth," and when it will be available to stream. ‘Love Island USA's Miguel Explains Why He Unfollowed Louis

Love Island USA star Miguel Harichi has entered the chat. In a recent Instagram Story, Miguel explained why he unfollowed his friend—Too Hot to Handle alum and current Perfect Match cast member Louis Russell—on Instagram, and he defended his girlfriend Leah Kateb for doing the same, making it clear that this has nothing to do with Huda Mustafa. And if that sentence sounds a little like a reality TV show Mad Libs, allow me to explain. On July 31, Louis went public with a new romance with Huda, a fan favorite of Love Island USA season 7. Soon after, Love Island USA season 6 alums Leah, Serena Page, and JaNa Craig all unfollowed Louis, which caused Huda fans to accuse them of bullying her. Among Leah's critics was Louis' friend and fellow Too Hot to Handle alum Isaac Francis, who went live on Twitch over the weekend. During Isaac's live, he took a lengthy phone call with Miguel—unmuted. In a clip that has subsequently gone viral, Isaac accused Leah of getting mad at Louis specifically for dating 'a girl she doesn't even know,' which fans took as a reference to Huda, resulting in even more hate towards Leah. Leah reportedly defended herself in the comments, clarifying that she has no problem with Huda and wishes her well. 'I pray she protects her energy. From all kinds of people,' she wrote. 'There's many reasons why WE all unfollowed Louis... Huda isn't one of them and never was.' She went on to accuse Isaac of taking a phone call from Miguel on live for 'clout,' something Miguel seemed to echo in his Instagram Story addressing the drama. 'People I called my friends feeling as though they have the right to talk on my relationship so negatively in such a public manner with no regard for how this might affect my girls [sic] mental,' Miguel wrote. 'Making assumptions without first understanding reasons behind certain actions and using that to let people drag her name and drag my relationship is disgusting!' Miguel continued, defending Leah. 'Leah and the girls didn't unfollow Louis because he was dating Huda, they did it because as women the reasoning behind why he was dating her didn't sit right with them,' he wrote. 'Whether or not they are truly falling for each other at this point I couldn't care less. I wish them nothing but peace, but my road is my own and I would prefer if my name and my girl's name no longer crossed into their world.' Huda, make of these red flags what you will.
