Robinson and Allgeier are the only locks to make the roster, but Mclellan and Washington will firmly be in the mix. Dotson and Carter will have to ball out during training camp to play themselves onto the roster. This is arguably one of the most talented running back groups in the entire league.

Unless the Falcons are unhappy with McClellan and want a more experienced No. 3 running back, we think they'll stand pat with their current group. Adding a veteran like Jamaal Williams would make some sense, though.
Predictions/expectations for 2025
Robinson just posted a career-high 1,456 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns. He should only get better with a more explosive passing attack to complement him in 2025. Allgeier is a perfect change-of-pace back whose bruising style wears out opposing defenders late in games. McClellan is a solid dual-threat option who should again serve as the No. 3 back. I like this group to top 2,000 combined rushing yards this season.

FedExCup Playoffs: Xander Schauffele fails to qualify for Tour Championship for first time in his career
Xander Schauffele isn't headed to East Lake this fall after all. Schauffele, the No. 3-ranked golfer in the world, struggled at the BMW Championship this week and entered the clubhouse at Caves Valley tied for 31st in the second leg of the PGA Tour's FedExCup Playoffs. 'There's nothing worse than trying your hardest and playing like ass,' Schauffele said. 'It's the worst combo. Some of us do it, some of us don't. It's been a while since I have, and I did it for a few weeks now, and it sucked. 'It's going to be nice to sit back and be at home and away from golf. Schauffele, who has won nine times on Tour in his career, had just three top 10 finishes in 14 starts this season — though two of those came at the Masters and the British Open. He didn't miss a single cut and hung around at No. 3 in the Official World Golf Rankings behind only Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. Though Schauffele's season is now over, he won't have a long break at home to try and recover. He's already secured his spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, which will take on the Europeans at Bethpage Black next month. The top 30 in the FedExCup standings after the BMW Championship will advance to the Tour Championship next week. The Ryder Cup's automatic qualifying period ends after the tournament, too, which will lock in the first half of the U.S. team. That event will start on Sept. 26 in New York.

Panthers signing reigning UFL MVP after injury to QB Andy Dalton
The Carolina Panthers are adding another Bryce to their quarterback room. As first reported by ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter on Sunday, the Panthers plan on signing quarterback Bryce Perkins. The move comes after yesterday's right elbow injury to backup Andy Dalton, who made an early exit from the 20-3 loss to the Houston Texans. Perkins, a University of Virginia standout, first broke into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020. He'd go on to appear in five games during the 2022 campaign, where he completed 19 of his 34 passing attempts for 161 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder has played the last two years with the United Football League's Michigan Panthers. He was named the league's Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year in 2025—as he passed for 1,342 yards and scored 14 total touchdowns (five rushing) over seven outings. Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Saturday that he does not plan on playing his starters in the team's preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. Colts' DC Lou Anarumo recently weighed in on Trey Hendrickson's value and impact on defense after coaching him for several years. The Cincinnati Bengals are listening to trade offers for All-Pro defensive end Trey Hendrickson, and the Indianapolis Colts are reportedly among a few teams that have shown interest. Beyond the level of player that Hendrickson is, an obvious connection between him and the Colts is the team's new defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. As we know, Anarumo was Hendrickson's defensive coordinator in Cincinnati for several seasons. Kay Adams of the 'Up and Adams Show' was recently at a Colts' training camp practice where she spoke with Anarumo. Among the topics discussed was Hendrickson and the value he brings to a defense. "To address the age part, he's a young 30," Anarumo said. "He is a workout freak. He's always in the weight room. He's constantly training. So he's got a bunch of years left in him for sure. He's a freak athlete. His numbers speak for themself. I think any team would say, a 17.5 sack guy, we'll take him." The hang-up between Hendrickson and the Bengals is that the two can't come to terms on a new deal. Hendrickson is entering the final year of his current contract and wants it to reflect his level of play over the last several seasons. Hendrickson led the NFL in sacks in 2024 and has steadily been one of the top pressure-getters among all pass rushers. "He can just generate a rush like nobody's business," added Anarumo. As Ian Rapoport mentioned in his report, trading for Hendrickson will be expensive and come with its challenges, especially given where we are at in the NFL calendar.
