Following a one-sided loss to the Pacers in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs and a torn Achilles that will sideline Damian Lillard until next summer, the Milwaukee Bucks are likely in for a summer of massive change.
Obviously, the biggest question is whether we've seen the last of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in a Milwaukee jersey. ESPN's Shams Charania reported on May 12 that Giannis was "open-minded about exploring whether his best long-term fit is remaining in Milwaukee or playing elsewhere."
We're still a long way from Antetokounmpo -- who is under contract with the Bucks through '27-28, with a player option after the '26-27 season -- formally requesting a trade out of Milwaukee.
At the same time, it's fair to assume that sportsbooks like DraftKings wouldn't be offering odds on his next team (or making them as short as they are) if there weren't at least some smoke here.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Odds
The odds below come from DraftKings (as of June 4).
Fine print, from DK: "First Regular Season minute played to be for which NBA team? [2025-26 only]"
Note: While DraftKings offers odds for all 30 teams in this market, we're listing the eight that currently have the shortest odds (20-to-1 or shorter).
Bucks (-140)
Spurs (+380)
Rockets (+450)
Raptors (+800)
Mavericks (+1200)
Thunder (+1300)
Knicks (+1600)
Nets (+2000)
Giannis Antetokounmpo Next Team Breakdown, Prediction
The first question here is a two-parter: A) How much stock do you put in the previously mentioned ESPN report on Giannis being open to a move? B) Is Milwaukee ready to begin a long post-Giannis rebuild?
Starting with the first piece of this, yes, it's easy to imagine the Greek Freak being ready to start over with a new franchise. When he previously expressed concerns about the viability of the Bucks roster, Milwaukee ownership/management heard him loud and clear and took action.
They acquired PG Jrue Holiday from the Pelicans in 2020, then went on to win the NBA Finals the following season. Milwaukee also took action in 2023 amid rumblings about Antetokounmpo, acquiring Damian Lillard from Portland.
But this summer, if you haven't heard, there's no realistic path to upgrading the Bucks roster the way they did with the deals for Holiday and Lillard. At the risk of oversimplifying things, that -- in a nutshell -- is why there's a real chance Giannis could be on the move this summer.
As for part B of this question, if* Giannis decides he wants out and is willing to play hardball to force a trade, the answer is probably "who cares?"
*As of June 4, this is still a big "if."
It has, however, repeatedly been proven that when an NBA star of Giannis's stature pushes for an exit, there's little to nothing his current team can do (see Butler, Jimmy for the best/most recent example).
Best Bet On Giannis Antetokounmpo's Next Team: Toronto Raptors
When betting on a potential trade that may or may not materialize, I recommend looking at the options with larger payouts than what you'll get if Giannis goes to the Spurs (+380) or Rockets (+450).
That brings me to the Raptors, whose odds have moved from 10-to-1 to 8-to-1 in the last 48 hours. The fact that Toronto's odds in this market are shorter than they were earlier this week doesn't guarantee anything, but that development shouldn't be ignored, either.
I don't expect the Spurs, who have two young stars in Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, plus the No. 2 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, to commit to the shake-up necessary to land a player like Giannis this offseason.
The biggest reason not to bet on the Rockets to land Giannis is the fact that they have the shortest odds to get Kevin Durant (+225 at DK as of June 4).
Why The Raptors Are An Intriguing Destination For Giannis
I don't just like Toronto as a Giannis destination by default or because of the enticing price, though.
An underrated storyline this summer is that Toronto Team President Masai Ujiri is entering a contract year, as his deal with the team is set to expire next summer. The exec who brought Kawhi Leonard (and a ring) to Toronto in 2018-19 is a good bet to make a splash of some sort this summer for a franchise that hasn't been to the playoffs since 2022.
More importantly, the Raptors have a 23-year-old All-Star in Scottie Barnes, a proven veteran wing in Brandon Ingram and three solid pieces under 27 years old in RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Gradey Dick.
At mininum, there's more than enough smoke here (including recent reports by the Toronto Star's Doug Smith and ESPN's Brian Windhorst) to justify a small bet, like 0.25 or 0.10 units, on the Raptors landing Giannis at +800.

Manny Machado homers again as Padres defeat Brewers 2-0
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Manny Machado homered for a second straight game and five San Diego pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Padres defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0 on Friday night. Machado's eighth-inning homer off Grant Anderson was his ninth of the season. It came one day after he hit his 350th career homer in a 3-2 loss at San Francisco, making him the 33rd player to reach that milestone in his age-32 season or earlier. Machado turns 33 on July 6. San Diego's other run came when Luis Arraez singled home Tyler Wade in the third. Wandy Peralta (3-0) earned the win after replacing starter Randy Vásquez and striking out Christian Yelich to strand runners on second and third in the fifth. Robert Suarez retired the side in order in the ninth to earn his MLB-leading 20th save in 22 opportunities. Vásquez walked four while striking out two and allowing two hits in 4 2/3 innings. Milwaukee's Chad Patrick (3-5) struck out six and gave up one run, four hits and three walks in six innings. The 26-year-old rookie lowered his ERA to 2.84. The Brewers left runners in scoring position in the second, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Key moment After Jackson Chourio and Yelich hit consecutive two-out singles in the seventh, Adrian Morejon struck out William Contreras to preserve San Diego's 1-0 lead. Machado then provided the Padres some insurance when he led off the eighth by sending an 0-2 pitch inside the left-field foul pole. Key stat The Brewers left 10 men on base and went 1 of 9 with runners in scoring position. Up next RHP Stephen Kolek (3-1, 3.47 ERA) starts for the Padres and LHP José Quintana (4-1, 2.77) pitches for the Brewers when this three-game series continues Saturday. ___ AP MLB:

NBA commissioner Adam Silver suggests league could bring 'The Finals' logo back to courts: 'We'll look at it'
The old NBA Finals logo has been missed on the court more than usual this season, as the Indiana Pacers face off with the Oklahoma City Thunder. NBA Finals games used to feature a giant script "The Finals" logo somewhere on the court, but that logo has fallen out of use over the past decade. However, after days of social media chatter about the ambience of this year's Finals, NBA commissioner Adam Silver acknowledge the issue, and hinted at a possible solution. Advertisement From The Athletic: 'Maybe there's a way around it,' he told a small group of reporters during an NBA Cares charity event at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oklahoma County. 'To be honest, I hadn't thought all that much about it until I (saw) it (on social media). I'm nostalgic, as well, for certain things. And also, I think for a media-driven culture, whether it's people watching live or seeing those images on social media, it's nice when you're looking back on highlights and they stand out because you see that trophy logo or some other indication that it's a special event. So, we'll look at it.' The "Finals" logo ceased to become a court feature in 2014, with the league citing player safety due to the slipperiness of the decals. It has since made some cameos, appearing in a small form on the Cleveland Cavalier's court in 2017 and as the featured logo on the COVID-19 bubble court of the 2020 NBA Finals. As Front Office Sports broke down Friday, the league has been trending away from such pageantry in other ways for years. The league has moved Finals patches from the front of player jerseys to the back. Broadcasts don't feature player introductions or the national anthem. The Finals logo is actually present... in a small version on the padding under the baskets. Outside of some extra ads and the logo on scorebug, the broadcast didn't look much different from a regular-season game. It's been a while since we've seen this logo on an NBA Finals court. (Photo by) (Mike Ehrmann via Getty Images) Many have noted the division in the league's apparent effort to dress up the Finals vs. its newer event, the in-season NBA Cup tournament. Those games feature custom-painted courts for every team and a giant trophy at center court. Advertisement Silver addressed that difference as well, basically saying the Cup was easier to plan for: 'In the case of the Cup, of course, we have the opportunity to plan well in advance and to design a specific neutral court for a Cup championship game,' he said. 'And the teams design their own Cup courts. It actually takes a significant amount of time to create new courts in terms of how they're painted, et cetera. 'One of the reasons we moved away from the logos on the courts is — whether it was perception or reality — there was a sense that maybe the logos added some slipperiness to the court, and it was a change sort of on the court that was coming just at the time of the finals. … Maybe it's for superstitious reasons or just a sense from teams that we shouldn't be changing things around such important competition. That's largely why we stopped putting the logos on the court.' With the demand clearly there, the ball is in the NBA's court, as it were. For now, Game 2 of the 2025 Finals scheduled for Friday in OKC.
