Nebraska volleyball releases 2025 schedule
Nebraska released the volleyball schedule for the 2025 season earlier this week. The Huskers finished the 2024 season with a 33-3 record. They also won the Big Ten title with a 19-1 conference mark.
They entered the NCAA Tournament as the third overall seed, making it all the way to the semifinals before falling to eventual national champion Penn State.
One of the key storylines for this season will be new coach Dani Busboom Kelly. She took over in January 2025, following the retirement of legendary coach John Cook. Now, Nebraska volleyball will begin a new era.
The Huskers kick off the season on Friday, Aug. 22, when they host the Pitt Panthers at Pinnacle Bank Arena as part of the AVCA First Serve Showcase. They start Big Ten play against the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday, Sep. 24, in Lincoln, Nebraska. They close the 2025 season on Nov. 29 at home against Ohio State.
The program looks poised for another major run in 2025, but will have to try to replace All-Americans Lexi Rodriguez and Merritt Beason. Things will look a bit different on the sidelines without Cook, but the program should be in good hands with a new head coach, and most of last season's starters are returning.

(AP) — Cayden Brumbaugh and Hogan Helligso each had a home run and two RBIs, Ty Horn struck out six in 7 1/3 innings and Nebraska beat Holy Cross 4-1 on Saturday to remain in the Chapel Hill Regional. Nebraska (33-28) will play in another must-win game on Sunday against the loser of the North Carolina-Oklahoma game. Holy Cross (31-27), in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017 and second since 1978, had its season come to an end. Brumbaugh's two-run blast deep to left field gave Nebraska a 2-1 lead in the fifth after Holy Cross DH Sean Scanlon homered in the top of the inning. Helligso, batting in the No. 9 spot, hit his third home run of the season in the seventh. Helligso added an insurance run on an RBI single in the eighth. Horn (4-4) allowed one earned run and five hits. Luke Broderick took over with one out in the eighth and got a 6-4-3 double play to get out of the inning. Florida guard Walter Clayton Jr. listed as a lottery pick in one mock draft Walter Clayton Jr. established himself as a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA draft, and the Florida guard is even projected to go as early as the lottery in one mock draft. Clayton led the Gators to their third national championship, averaging 18.3 points, 4.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals on 38.6% shooting from 3-point range. He ranked eighth in the country in scoring, setting the single-season program record with 713 total points. The 22-year-old was considered one of the top point guards in the country, thanks to his scoring, shooting and ability to lead different offenses. He was listed 13th in the latest mock draft by Adam Finkelstein of CBS Sports, as a result. This year's Mr. March Madness played his way into lottery consideration, not because he led Florida to a national championship, but because he showed different elements of his game and a higher upside while doing it. He also measured in with an 8-foot, 1 1/2-inch standing reach and a 6-foot, 4-inch wingspan. Clayton will have the chance to affirm his standing in team workouts and interviews, with less than four weeks to go until the draft. He will likely begin ramping up his visits soon.
