Speaking on the floor of the Assembly, during its marathon 24-hour sitting over Wednesday and Thursday, Pal said: 'I lost my husband, who was a member of this House. The entire House knows how my husband was killed and who killed him. I want to thank the CM, who saw my silent tears, which were overlooked by others for ages. He delivered justice to me in a true manner.'
In 2023, Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead while on their way to a medical check-up under police custody, outside a hospital in Prayagraj.
Pal was married to Raju Pal, a former BSP MLA who was killed in a 2005 shootout in Prayagraj, in which Ahmed and Ashraf were accused. Two years later, she made her electoral debut from Allahabad West seat as a BSP candidate and won. She retained the seat five years later, but lost the 2017 election. Ahead of the 2022 polls, she joined the SP, which fielded her from the Chail seat in Kaushambi district.
Reacting to her expulsion, Pal said she 'genuinely wanted to thank the CM' and claimed her only fault was to mention Ahmed's name. 'The SP needs to choose between the families of those killed in Prayagraj and those killed in encounters,' she said.
'I was married for just nine days when my husband was killed. I just wanted to thank Adityanath for ensuring justice for me 18 years later. The journey was not easy as I knew nothing about the police, FIR, etc,' she added.
Saying that she got associated with the SP as she aligned with the 'anti-mafia' thought processes of its chief Akhilesh Yadav, Pal said she was disappointed by the party's 'double standards'. 'When my husband was murdered, they slammed the BSP saying law and order under its regime was poor. But now they are feeling pain when Adityanath has walked the talk on tackling the mafia.'

In a similar case in April 2023, a newly married man and his elder brother were killed after a home theatre music system received as wedding gift from his wife's former lover exploded in their house in neighbouring Kabirdham district. In the latest case, the prime accused, Vinay Verma, and six others have been arrested, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district Superintendent of Police Lakshya Sharma told PTI. The others have been identified as Parmeshwar Verma , Gopal Verma , Ghasiram Verma , Dilip Dhimar , Gopal Khelwar and Khilesh Verma , as per the police. The conspiracy came to light when a suspicious parcel, neatly gift-wrapped and bearing a fake India Post logo, was delivered three-four days back to a shop in Manpur village under Gandai police station limits. The parcel was addressed to village resident Afsar Khan, the intended target. Finding it suspicious, Khan promptly alerted the police, the official said. A bomb disposal team examined the package and found a 2-kg IED concealed inside a brand-new speaker, the SP said. Technical analysis showed the IED was designed to detonate upon being plugged into a power source. The current would reach a detonator connected to the speaker's wiring, triggering the explosion, the official said. Gelatin sticks were used as the primary explosive, and the speaker's outer casing would act as deadly shrapnel upon detonation, he said. The investigation suggested that Vinay Verma, resident of Kusami village in Khairagarh, allegedly hatched the plot in a bid to murder Khan, the official said. Verma, an electrician, procured the speaker and assembled the IED using online tutorials. His mobile phone's Google search history included "how to kill a person using a bomb without being caught by police", Sharma said. The accused was in one-sided love with Khan's wife since her college days. After she married Khan a few months back, Verma allegedly plotted to eliminate him, he said. Further probe indicated the explosives used in the device had been siphoned off from a stone quarry in Chhattisgarh's Durg district. Durg resident Parmeshwar allegedly paid ₹6,000 to procure gelatin rods from Gopal and Dilip, also natives of Durg. Ghasiram delivered the explosives, while Khilesh is accused of preparing the fake India Post logo used on the parcel, the official said. Verma, with the help from Gopal, eventually delivered the explosive-laden gift to Khan's shop. Subsequent raids at the premises of Gopal and Dilip in Durg led to the seizure of 60 gelatin sticks and two detonators, he said. The explosives had been illegally diverted from a quarry in Patharia area, whose operator will also be questioned, he said. "This action not only thwarted a planned murder but also exposed a network of illegal explosive supply in the region," Sharma said. Jewellery heist: Two arrested, gold worth Rs 60 L recovered
Suryapet: District SP K Narasimha informed that police have arrested two accused in connection with the theft that took place at Sri Sai Santoshi Jewellery Shop in Suryapet town on the night of July 21. From the arrested, police recovered 554 grams of gold worth Rs 60 lakh and Rs 92,500 cash. Addressing a press meet at the SP office on Saturday, he explained the case details. Using technical evidence, Suryapet police arrested accused Malik Molla from Baihor village, Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal, on August 11, recovering 554 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 87,500 cash. Another accused, Amar Bhatt from Nepal, was caught in Khammam with Rs 5,000. Police said Bhatt had provided shelter and conducted recce for the gang. Molla was produced before a local court in Balurghat, West Bengal, and was brought to Suryapet on transit remand for seven days. On July 27, police also arrested a woman accomplice, recovering 14 tolas of gold from her. During interrogation, the accused confessed that the gang, consisting of seven members, including three from Nepal and others from West Bengal, carried out the heist by drilling a hole through the back wall of the shop after conducting recce. SP Narasimha said that while three accused have been arrested, four others—Prakash Anil Kumar, Kadak Singh Ahul Walia, Puran Prasad Joshi (all from Nepal), and Jashimuddin from West Bengal—are still absconding. Special police teams are searching for them, and efforts are on to recover the remaining stolen property.
