Coachella 2025: Shaboozey, Megan Thee Stallion and other Sunday highs and lows
Sunday marked the conclusion of Weekend 1 of the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and though it had plenty of surprise guests, still provided its fair share of lows in contrast to the highs (especially when compared to Friday and Saturday).
The festival will return for the second weekend on Friday.
Here are a few of the high and low points of Sunday's action, which included Post Malone and Megan Thee Stallion on the main Coachella Stage.
Maybe it was that Travis Scott went past the 1 a.m. curfew to end Saturday and the crowds were sleeping in Sunday morning. Or it could be that the fatigue of two days under that sometimes irritating Coachella Valley sun had caught up to festivalgoers. Either way, the lines were noticeably shorter getting into the festival site once the gates opened on Sunday.
For those of us who were there, it was a welcoming sight. On both Friday and Saturday, the lines were lengthy, though crowds moved through security checks fairly quickly.
Crowds picked up on the site in the mid-afternoon on Sunday.
Shaboozey brought it.
The Grammy-nominated singer, who is known for the unique blend of hip-hop, country and rock elements in his music, put on a fun show on the Coachella Stage Sunday afternoon. He sang his most popular song, 'A Bar Song (Tipsy),' and during the set brought out Noah Cyrus for their song 'My Fault,' which they recorded together for Shaboozey's popular 2024 album, 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going.'
The singer played just nine songs but sang 'Blink Twice' and 'Amen' for the first time live.
Only real complaint is that this set probably would have been even better had it been played in the evening, after the sun had dropped behind the Santa Rosa Mountains.
I wouldn't call myself a fan of the 30-year-old rapper and singer, but even I cannot deny the energy she brought to the Coachella Stage Sunday evening. She even brought some recognizable guests on stage with her.
The set included a guest appearance from Queen Latifah, and the two sang "Plan B" and performed Latifah's "U.N.I.T.Y" for a crowd of around 50,000.
Victoria Monét was also brought on stage and she and Megan performed "Spin" and "On My Mama," the latter of which is a Monét song.
Ciara was also brought on stage to sing "Roc Steady"/"Goodies," a mashup the two recorded last year.
Look, nothing against those playing on Sunday. Overall, the lineup was solid. But I personally thought that the lineup was simply better on Friday and Saturday, when we had multiple superstar acts playing.
Post Malone was the headliner, with Megan Thee Stallion playing on the Coachella Stage just prior. Go ahead and include Grammy-nominated Shaboozey, but if we're talking star acts, in my opinion it ends there.
Compare that with Saturday, which included sets by Weezer, Green Day, Clairo, Charli XCX, Jimmy Eat World and Travis Scott, and Friday, which featured The Go-Go's, Benson Boone, Missy Elliott and Lady Gaga and you get my point.
Sunday seemed like more of a chill day, which is fine. But it felt like a bit of a letdown.
Perhaps we were spoiled on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, Tyla brought out Becky G, Mustard brought out 2Chainz, Ella Mai, YG, Big Sean and Roddy Ricch, Queen's Brian May joined Benson Boone and Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong joined The Go-Go's for a song.
On Saturday, Flava Flav and Thundercat joined Yo Gabba Gabba!, Clairo brought out Sen. Bernie Sanders and Charli XCX brought Troye Sivan, Lorde and Billie Eilish on stage.
Other than Zedd (who brought out Bea Miller, Elley Duhe, Maren Morris, John Mayer and Julia Michaels) and Megan Thee Stallion's star-studded sets, we didn't have quite as many big-name guest appearances on Sunday, and that was a bit disappointing.
This is merely an anecdotal observation, but it felt like the Sunday lines were longer for food and for many of the pop-ups around the festival site. Who knows why, but it was noticeable to both me and others covering the festival.
It was a minor inconvenience, if at all, but still less than ideal when navigating the festival experience.

Ranking all the best bits you missed from Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter London tour dates
Beyoncé is in town, people! Queen Bey is currently halfway through her London leg of the Cowboy Carter Tour, and those who managed to secure tickets have witnessed music royalty in real-time. For those who didn't - or won't - be making it to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, we've resorted to catching the best bits through our phone screens. So, as Beyoncé takes it easy for a couple of days before taking back to the stage on 10th June, we thought now might be the perfect time to look back on the epic performances so far. Because honestly, there have been some pretty iconic moments. For all the Beyoncé sleuths out there, you'll likely have checked out the setlist way ahead of time. Of course, the tour is in support of her Grammy-winning album, Cowboy Carter, meaning the show revolves mostly around this era. However, that doesn't mean that plenty of her other hit songs are out of the question. Despite this, many were gutted when her 2022 Renaissance hit 'Break My Soul' was nowhere to be seen on lists... Until now. Thankfully, on 7th June, she performed it as a surprise song. And as you can hear from the crowd's screams, it was the correct artistic decision to make. During the opening London show, Beyoncé also performed her Renaissance track, 'Energy.' With that, she prompted fans to reenact the Renaissance World Tour staple, the "mute challenge." To recap, this is where fans go silent when she sings the lyrics "look around everybody on mute." In 2022, it made its way onto social media and became a viral TikTok sensation. "We got Donatella Versace in the house," Beyoncé told the crowd towards the end of the show on night two. Which is perhaps the reason fans were treated to some new looks. Continuing with her cowboy couture theme, she donned cowboy hats, boots and plenty of fringe. During 'Alliigator Tears,' she served a fresh fit consisting of a white top, white skirt, thigh-high boots and fringe gloves. Later, she donned a Versace ensemble complete with a ruffled dress with matching boots and gloves. It's the UK. Rain doesn't spare anyone, even Sasha Fierce. On night one, the heavens opened, but rather than fuming at the weather, fans seemed to embrace it. Many even called it iconic. One person said that the downpour during 'Bodyguard' was a vibe, while others said that the rain made Honey Balenciaga's section of the show "all the more iconic." It didn't seem to bother Queen Bey, either, as she told the crowd: "We won't let the rain stop us." Unfortunately, even during a Beyoncé show, things can't always be guaranteed to go 100% smoothly. It's how you deal with unprecedented mishaps that separates amateurs from pros. On the first night, while performing 'I'm That Girl,' Bey encountered a wardrobe malfunction during a choreographed moment. Her gold chaps literally fell down around her ankles, but rather than freaking out, she continued. Her expression didn't change, nor did she try and fix the problem. Rather, one of her dancers subtly slipped them back up, fastened them, and carried on with the performance. It wasn't until after the chaps were firmly back up that Beyoncé hilariously acknowledged the slick moment: she just laughed as if to say, "s**t happens." And finally, how could we leave out the sweetest moment of all? Beyoncé literally hyped up her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, who has been a major part of the Cowboy Carter Tour, as she left the stage. Just look at how proud she is of her! Mother-daughter goals right there. There's a reason she's called Queen Bey.

Beyoncé fans react to dance captain's absence during London concert: 'Where is Amari?'
Beyoncé fans react to dance captain's absence during London concert: 'Where is Amari?' Beyoncé Knowles-Carter lit up the stage for the second night of her "Cowboy Carter" tour in London, and while fans were thrilled to see Les Twins dancing once again, many pointed out one familiar face was missing. The Grammy-winning singer took the stage June 7 for her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. During the electric performance many fans noticed that Amari "Monster" Marshall, dubbed Beyoncé's dance captain, was not among the performers onstage. One fan wrote, "What happened to Amari," and many others cosigned. Marshall began working with Beyoncé during her iconic 2018 Coachella "Beychella" performances. She eventually assumed the role of dance co-captain on the "Renaissance World Tour," where she played a key part in mentoring Beyoncé's then 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy during her stage debut. Beyoncé publicly praised Marshall for her guidance with the family dubbing her Blue's 'dance stage momma." She also took the stage with Bey during her 2024 Christmas Day NFL halftime show during the Texans-Ravens game. Marshall has continued performing with Beyoncé as dance captain on the "Cowboy Carter" tour, often sharing photos from various tour stops. However, she appeared to be absent from the stage in London, and fans especially noticed during Saturday night's show. It's not yet clear why Marshall didn't appear onstage or if she'll be making a return soon. The concert marked Beyoncé's second of six shows at the stadium. She is set to hit the stage again June 10, 12, 14 and 16, before heading to Paris for three fans know, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. Of course, Beyoncé first released the 27-track project in March 2024. It has since made history and broken multiple records. As Beyoncé's first country album, she deliberately featured country legends and emerging Black country artists alike. She became the first Black woman to win best country album at the 2025 Grammys and also took home album of the year. The nine-city tour will span the U.S. and Europe with the grand finale taking place in Las Vegas on July 26.
