J-K: Around 200 farmers get hands-on training in Doda under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025'
Bhaderwah (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 4 (ANI): The Department of Agriculture, Doda, organised a comprehensive farmer awareness programme at Bhalara Bhaderwah as part of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025, where around 200 participating farmers discussed the latest technologies and different Agricultural schemes.
The Director of Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion. This was organised in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to revitalise the agriculture sector.
The initiative aims to empower farmers with knowledge, technology, and resources to boost productivity, ensure sustainable practices, and increase income.
Sub Divisional Agricultural Officer Bhaderwah Aamir Rafiqi highlighted the government's long-term vision to make Indian agriculture globally competitive.
The Prime Minister's vision for a developed India by 2047 cannot be achieved without transforming agriculture. This campaign is about creating awareness and driving real change on the ground.
Director Agriculture, Jammu, Arvinder Singh, emphasised the importance of farmer-centric policies being implemented by the Government of India.
He said, 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is not just a campaign but a mission to ensure the transformation of Indian agriculture through scientific interventions, smart resource utilisation, and access to direct benefits.'
He urged farmers to proactively engage with the departments, adopt sustainable practices, and take advantage of the numerous schemes and subsidies made available under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Arvinder Singh added that 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan 2025 is an opportunity for farmers to directly interact with field experts and scientists to resolve their issues and upgrade their practices.
He encouraged farmers to adopt organic and climate-resilient agriculture while taking full advantage of government-supported initiatives for irrigation, seeds, fertilisers, and crop insurance.
During the programme, farmers shared significant challenges including irregular rainfall, water quality issues, soil health problems, market prices and availability of quality seeds.
Scientists of Krishi Vighyan Kendra Doda provided detailed information on natural farming, integrated pest management, new varieties, soil health management, crop diversification, direct-seeded rice cultivation, summer ploughing, and government schemes.
'We usually hear about government schemes, but don't always understand how to apply for them. Today, officers helped us directly that personal guidance makes a big difference,' said a farmer, Sashi Kumar.
'This is the first time I've seen such detailed information about soil health and organic farming methods in one place,' said Ravi, a farmer from Bhaderwah.
'If these methods are adopted widely, we can definitely increase our yield and income,' he added. (ANI)

India's wait for rail connectivity between New Delhi and the Kashmir Valley ended on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a host of infrastructure projects, including two Vande Bharat trains and two of India's most advanced rail bridges – Chenab and Anji. 'Whether it is Chenab Bridge or Anji Bridge, these will become a means of prosperity for both Jammu and Kashmir. This will not only increase tourism, but will also benefit other sectors of the economy. Rail connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir will create new opportunities for businessmen of both regions. This will give impetus to the industry here, now apples from Kashmir will be able to reach the big markets of the country at a low cost, and will be able to reach on time," Modi said while inaugurating multiple infrastructure projects in Katra, including the completed Kashmir rail link. "Be it dry fruits or pashmina shawls, the handicrafts here will now be easily able to reach any part of the country. This will also make it very easy for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to travel to other parts of the country,' he said. The Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project stretches 272 km through the rugged Himalayas. The entire project, which had been getting completed in parts over the past decades, has been completed at a cost of ₹43,780 crore, 42 years after the foundation stone was laid by then PM Indira Gandhi. It has 36 tunnels that span 119 km, and 943 bridges that knit together valleys, ridges, and mountain passes. Designed to overcome the region's challenging geography, it connects remote areas to the national rail network. 'When this project was conceptualised, I was a student in eighth standard. Today, I'm 55 years old,' said Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the inauguration event. The Chenab Bridge, standing at a height of 359 metres above the river, is the world's highest railway arch bridge. It is a 1,315-metre-long steel arch bridge engineered to withstand seismic and wind conditions. A key impact of the bridge will be in enhancing connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar. 'Through Vande Bharat train moving on the bridge, it will take just about three hours to travel between Katra and Srinagar, reducing existing travel time by two-three hours,' said the railways. Modi said the bridge in and of itself will become a prominent tourist destination. Similarly, the Anji Bridge is India's first cable-stayed rail bridge. Speaking for the first time in J&K since the Pahalgam terror strike, Modi attacked Pakistan for conspiring to stir instability in the region. 'Pakistan attacked both humanity and Kashmiriyat in Pahalgam. Its intention was to create riots in India. Its intention was to stop the earnings of the hardworking people of Kashmir. That is why Pakistan attacked the tourists. Tourism was continuously increasing in the last four-five years, every year a record number of tourists were coming here. Pakistan targeted tourism that helps the poor of Jammu and Kashmir run their homes,' he said. Abdullah said the introduction of train services in the Valley was a relief for the people of the Union Territory (UT) who got 'looted' by airlines whenever highways in the UT had to be closed due to rains. He claimed that airlines looted J&K by hiking airfares from ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 in a matter of an hour.

Centre releases e-book on Modi Government's achievements over 11 years
The Union Government has released an e-book, 'Viksit Bharat ka Amrit Kaal: Seva, Sushasan, Garib Kalyan ke 11 Saal', on its achievements across all the sectors over the past 11 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'These 11 years have been dedicated to bringing about development which is inclusive, progressive, and sustainable. The government under Prime Minister Modi has been steadfast in its commitment to creating equity and opportunity for all citizens. Mr. Modi has brought the politics of development — Vikasvaad — into the mainstream, making it the focal point around which political discourse and policy action now revolves,' said its introduction. Editorial: Growing pains: On economic performance, Viksit Bharat Divided into 14 chapters, the book covers issues ranging from schemes for the poor and marginalised, farmer welfare, economy, healthcare, women/youth empowerment, infrastructure development, tech revolution, ease-of-living for middle class, the progress made in north-eastern States, national security and foreign policy, environment and sustainability initiatives, and preservation/propagation of India's rich culture and heritage.
