Yuzvendra Chahal played with 'broken ribs' in IPL 2025, says rumoured gf RJ Mahvash

RJ Mahvash (L) Yuzvendra Chahal (R). New Delhi: The Punjab Kings' Yuzvendra Chahal put in a top performance and played well in IPL 2025. He got 16 wickets over his 13 innings, getting two four-wicket hauls. He was an important part of what made the team achieve its objectives. Yuzvendra Chahal missed several games towards the end of Punjab Kings' (PBKS) IPL 2025 season due to a finger injury. Despite this, he played in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians on June 1st, following a match against Rajasthan Royals on May 18th, and also participated in the final. Yuzvendra Chahal's close friend, RJ Mahvash, revealed that the cricketer suffered rib and bowling finger fractures during a recent tournament; the rib injury occurred in the second match, while the finger injury happened later. 'They fought, stayed and played till the last match! And special post to @yuzi_chahal23 because what people don't know is that his ribs got fractured in the second match only and his bowling finger got fractured later, this guy played the entire season with 3 fractures!' RJ Mahvash posted on Instagram. 'We all have seen him screaming and crying in pain but have never seen him giving up! I mean what warrior spirit you have man ?? The team kept fighting till the last ball! It was nothing but an honour to be a supporter of this team this year! Well played boys ?? All the people in these pictures have my heart ??See you next year! Also, many congratulations to RCB and fans for winning the title. Everyone played and worked hard! Cricket , and IPL ..my God again! Truly a festival for us indians.' Yuzvendra Chahal's economical bowling (1/37) restricted the batting team, while Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson each claimed three wickets (3/40 and 3/48 respectively). RCB's strong finish, fueled by Jitesh Sharma's quick 24, Liam Livingstone's 25, and Rajat Patidar's 26, enabled them to reach 190/9 in their 20 overs. Virat Kohli's 43 provided some stability to the innings. Priyansh Arya's quick 24 runs (from 19 balls, including four boundaries) and Prabhsimran's 26 (from 22 balls, with two sixes) propelled Punjab Kings to a strong start in their run chase, culminating in a 43-run partnership. Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten, match-winning performance against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 propelled Punjab Kings to the final. However, he underperformed in the championship match. Krunal Pandya, Yash Dayal, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's bowling performances (2/17, 1/18, and 2/38 respectively) restricted Punjab Kings to 184/7, despite Shashank Singh's impressive 22 runs in the final over. Josh Inglis and Shashank Singh powered a strong batting performance, scoring 39 runs off 23 balls (Inglis) and 61 not out off 30 balls (Singh), with both players hitting multiple boundaries and sixes. Krunal Pandya's excellent bowling performance secured him the Player of the Match award.

Andre Russell's "Lucrative Central Contracts" Remark To Virat Kohli's Test Comment

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell has reacted to Virat Kohli's comment of putting Test cricket above Indian Premier League title. Kohli's team Royal Challengers Bengaluru won its first-ever trophy in 18 seasons after defeating Punjab Kings in the recently-concluded final. The star player clinched his maiden IPL trophy despite playing for the franchise since the inaugural season in 2008. While it was a big achievement for Kohli, he still termed Test cricket "five levels" above that moment. "This moment is right up there with the best moments I've had in my career. But it still marks five levels under Test cricket. That's how much I value Test cricket. And that's how much I love Test cricket. So I would just urge the youngsters coming through to treat that format with respect," said Kohli after RCB won the IPL 2025 final in Ahmedabad on June 3. While reacting to Kohli's comment, Russell pointed out the reason what he believes propels the players from big cricketing nations to play Test cricket. The 37-year-old all-rounder, who has prioritised franchise cricket over international assignments, is set to return to the West Indies line-up for first time in around six months during the T20I series against England. "I think when you're from India, Australia, England, those places where they look after their Test players, it's totally different to being from West Indies," Russell told The Guardian. "Those guys get lucrative central contracts to play Test cricket and play on the biggest stages, of course they want to play. West Indians? You might play 50 or 100 Tests, and you know, after you retire, there's not much to show for it." Russell, a veteran cricketer who has featured in 56 ODIs, 83 T20Is and 551 T20s, has played only one Test match for Windies. His only appearance in West Indies whites came in 2010. "I was basically pushed out of the Test set-up. They saw me as more of a white-ball player and that was that," said Russell. "Honestly? No. I believe in Test cricket, but at the end of the day, I'm a professional. It wasn't part of my journey. I have no regrets because it wasn't me that turned my back," he added. Gautam Gambhir makes new claim on Shreyas Iyer's Test omission, says 'it's always about...'

Shreyas Iyer. New Delhi: Several important players were not included in India's 18-member squad for the five-Test tour in England starting from June 20. It's especially important to mention that Shreyas Iyer is not in the squad even after his impressive ODI and T20 form lately. Initially mum, Gautam Gambhir mentioned later that players who keep scoring will still be considered. 'Anyone can be called if they are in good form. We can only pick 18. But I believe it's always about being open to people who are in good form and can deliver,' Gambhir told reporters in Mumbai on Thursday. Earlier, when Gambhir was asked about Shreyas' omission, Gambhir said, 'I'm not the selector'. BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar commented on Shreyas Iyer during the team announcement: 'Yes, Shreyas Iyer has played well in domestic cricket, but at the moment, there is no room for him in the Test Team.' During the 2025 season, Shreyas Iyer delivered great performances and became India's top scorer for the Champions Trophy win. Iyer's show for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025 lived up to the expectations set by his big contract. He helped his team reach the final and was their best run-scorer, finishing with 604 runs in 17 games at a great strike rate of 175. As given by the BCCI and ECB, the series will now be known as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, paying homage to Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson.
