Ryne Sandberg's Emotional Words to Wife Margaret Amid Cancer Diagnosis

Yahoo2 days ago
Baseball legend Ryne Sandberg called his wife Margaret "my rock" after his cancer diagnosis and noted, "With her by my side, I can conquer anything!"
The former Chicago Cub died on July 28, the Cubs confirmed in a post on X. The Hall of Fame second baseman was only 65.
What was the cause of death? According to the Associated Press, Sandberg "had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer," a diagnosis that came in 2024.
That same year, Sandberg opened up about his loving and long-term marriage to his wife Margaret Sandberg, sharing a photo of his spouse.
"Happy Mothers Day to my wife Margaret and life partner! We will be celebrating 30 years together next year, the experiences, events, and memories are endless," he wrote.
"I wouldn't have wanted to been with anyone else and she has made my life fun and has made me a better person and continues to do so," he added.
According to People, Margaret was Sandberg's second wife.
Sandberg "was married to his first wife, Cindy, from 1979 to July 1995, when they divorced," People reported, noting that Sandberg and Cindy had two kids together named Justin and Lindsey. He married Margaret in August 1995 and was a stepfather to her three kids, BR, Adriane and Steven, People reported.
Ryne Sandberg said his wife, Margaret, was his 'team captain' during his cancer battle
In the lengthy post, Sandberg described how his wife had helped him after the cancer diagnosis.
"These past 6 months have been a journey and test for both of us but she has taken complete control of my battle with cancer like a Team Captain and I've managed to be as comfortable as possible and do all the doctors have ordered because of her," he added.
"It has been a lot for her to take on but she has been the one I credit a lot for my successful winning of the battle! I love her more than ever! She is my Rock and with her by my side I can conquer anything! 🌷 Thank you for your support and prayers to both of us! 🌷 #godisgood," the post continued.
On July 16, Sandberg posted a health update. "I wanted to share an update regarding my health. It's been a challenging few months as I have been going through treatment on a regular basis," he wrote.
"While I am continuing to fight, I'm looking forward to making the most of every day with my loving family and friends. I haven't been to Wrigley Field as much as I hoped in the first half but I'm watching every game and am excited for the second half and to see Wrigley rocking like 1984!" he added, concluding the post, "Go Cubs!"
Ryne Sandberg's family released a statement after his death
Sandberg's family posted a statement to his Instagram page after his death.
"To Ryne's Fans, Friends, and Baseball Family - It is with heavy hearts, we announce that Ryne passed away tonight in the comfort of his home," it reads.
"Ryne was surrounded by his loving wife Margaret, their children, and grandchildren. We thank you for all of the kind words, support, and love during this difficult time. Ryne will forever be in our hearts."
Ryne Sandberg, 1st Wife Cindy White Sandberg dealt with custody issues
A 1996 story in Sports Illustrated described a court hearing in which Sandberg's new wife, Margaret, and his first wife, Cindy, were in the same room together as the couple dealt with custody issues.
As a part of the divorce, "which became final on July 5, 1995, Ryne and Cindy agreed to remain in the same Phoenix neighborhood and entered into a 20-page 'parenting plan' that gave them equal time with their children, who alternate weeks in homes a short distance apart," that article reported.
He walked away from a multi-million dollar contract to spend more time with his kids, that story reported.

Cubs Linked to Rockies' All-Star Amid Hot Corner Concerns

Cubs Linked to Rockies' All-Star Amid Hot Corner Concerns originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Despite having the league's best offense, the Chicago Cubs' lack of production at third base is becoming a problem. The Cubs may view Matt Shaw as the third baseman of the future, but right now, he is borderline unplayable. Through 66 games, the 23-year-old is slashing .210/.285/.304 with just two home runs and 16 RBIs. His performance is a key reason Chicago's third basemen rank as the second-worst unit in the league, according to FanGraphs. The hole at the hot corner is forcing Cubs' President of Baseball Operations Jed Hoyer to reevaluate the position, and according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, Chicago would 'love' to acquire Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies. McMahon, 30, is not known for his bat despite playing at Coors Field. The left-hander is hitting .218 with 15 home runs and 32 RBIs. While the numbers do not jump off the page, it is an improvement from what Shaw is delivering with everyday at-bats. One area where McMahon can provide a massive upgrade for Chicago is defense. McMahon ranks second among third basemen with 6.1 WAR. Acquiring McMahon would not only give the Cubs a more legitimate bat at the hot corner but move Shaw to the bench and deepen their depth in return. There is one factor that may deter the Cubs from swinging a trade for McMahon. Hoyer is in the final year of his contract, and McMahon has over $32 million left on his deal. If Chicago's brass is not fully committed to Hoyer's future with the organization, they may veto any agreement for any non-rental players and end all discussions about adding McMahon at the deadline. LeBron James posts image of himself with Clippers logo in background

All of a sudden, not as many people are talking about LeBron James possibly asking the Los Angeles Lakers to trade him. That talk has largely subsided as the realities of how difficult it would be to pull off a trade that would land him on an instant title contender have seemingly sunk in. But many feel James has been dropping passive-aggressive hints that he may want to move on. Earlier this offseason, he had a couple of social media posts of himself in his native Ohio, including one at the Cleveland Cavaliers' facility. The latest such post shows him working out in a room that has the Los Angeles Clippers' logo positioned behind him. The accompanying caption on that Instagram post read as follows: "Say whatever you want but you damn sure won't be able to say I didn't put in the WORK!! . We'll see what happens when I no longer exist. Man [expletive] this [expletive]." This could be a big nothing as far as which team James will play for in the coming months, and it's always possible he's simply looking to mess with people who love to speculate about him. Of course, since it is him, and since he is infamously passive-aggressive, people will wonder what this post is really all about.

Paris Jackson vs Justin Long: Who has the higher net worth in 2025?

By Aman Shukla Published on August 1, 2025, 08:20 IST Paris Jackson and Justin Long have been making headlines—not just for their individual careers, but also for their recent split. The couple, who got engaged in late 2024, officially called off their engagement in July 2025, ending months of speculation and public appearances that hinted at trouble. Alongside the news of their breakup, fans are now curious: who has the higher net worth in 2025? This article dives into their estimated net worths in 2025. Paris Jackson's Net Worth in 2025 Paris Jackson's net worth in 2025 is estimated to range between $100 million and $150 million, according to various sources. Her wealth primarily stems from her inheritance from Michael Jackson's estate, which was valued at over $1 billion at the time of his death in 2009 and has grown to an estimated $2 billion by 2025. Paris, along with her siblings Prince and Blanket Jackson, receives periodic trust payouts, though the exact amounts remain confidential due to ongoing legal disputes, including an IRS valuation issue. Beyond her inheritance, Paris has carved out a diverse career as a singer, songwriter, model, and actress. Her music career includes her debut album Wilted (2020) and performances as an opening act for bands like Incubus and Manchester Orchestra in 2025, earning her an estimated $300,000–$500,000 from tour slots and merchandise. Her modeling work with brands like Calvin Klein and her 5.4 million Instagram followers generate $250,000–$300,000 annually through sponsored posts. Acting roles in projects like American Horror Stories , Swarm , and Sex Appeal further bolster her income. Real estate investments, such as her $3.8 million Hollywood Hills cabin-style estate purchased in 2022, also contribute to her wealth. Justin Long's Net Worth in 2025 Justin Long, Paris Jackson's former fiancé and a music producer, has an estimated net worth of $1 million to $5 million in 2025. While specific figures are less documented compared to Paris, his wealth is primarily derived from his work as a music producer and bandmate. Long has collaborated with various artists, contributing to albums and live performances, though his financial standing is significantly lower than Paris's due to the absence of a comparable inheritance or high-profile endorsements. His earnings come from music production, touring, and occasional media projects, but detailed breakdowns are scarce. Paris Jackson vs. Justin Long: Net Worth Comparison When comparing their net worths, Paris Jackson clearly holds a substantial lead. Her estimated $100–150 million fortune dwarfs Justin Long's $1–5 million, largely due to her massive inheritance from Michael Jackson's estate, supplemented by her successful career in music, modeling, and acting. Justin's income, while respectable for a music producer, lacks the scale of Paris's diverse revenue streams and inherited wealth.
