15 LGBTQ+ Former Disney And Nickelodeon Stars
I don't know about you, but as a Gen Z'er, I spent practically every waking hour of childhood watching TV shows on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. OK, so maybe not EVERY waking hour, but I watched it as much as I could.
And as it turns out, some of our fave stars who we grew up adoring actually ended up coming out as LGBTQ+ long after their time as child stars ended. So it's about time we celebrate them, shall we? Let's go!
Gotta start with our girl, Raven-Symoné. She came out as gay publicly in 2013, ten years after That's So Raven first aired. She said she's known since she was 12, though, while she was on the show. Raven got married to her wife, Miranda Pearman-Maday, in 2020!
Miley Cyrus, like the absolute icon that she is, came out as pansexual in 2016. She opened up about how she's "always hated the word 'bisexual,'" because she felt it put her "in a box," and also said her first-ever relationship was "with a chick." ALL HAIL THE QUEEEEEN!
Demi Lovato is a queer Disney icon, of course, but you might not remember how she came out. In 2015, she confirmed that the banger "Cool For The Summer" was about a relationship with a woman. Eventually, she came out as pansexual in 2021. She came out as nonbinary in 2021, and according to her Instagram bio, she uses both they/them and she/her pronouns.
Josie Totah, who you might know from Jessie, came out as trans to the public in 2018 through an article published in Time Magazine called "My Name Is Josie Totah — And I'm Ready to Be Free." In the article, she explains having come out to her family and starting her transition three years before, at age 14.
Speaking of Jessie...Josie Totah's costar Karan Brar, who played Ravi on the show, came out as bisexual in an essay for Teen Vogue in late 2023.
Can't forget about my personal fave, Alyson Stoner, the Camp Rock and Suite Life legend. Alyson came out in a 2018 essay for Teen Vogue, saying they're attracted to "people of every gender identity and expression," and also opened up about having to attend gay conversion therapy. Then, a few years later, Alyson revealed they now go by they/them pronouns.
Next up, Keke Palmer, who I first saw in the 2007 DCOM Jump In! In 2016, people began speculating she was queer after the music video for her song "I Don't Belong To You" came out (because she's with a woman in the video). She ended up saying, "I don't want to be stuck down to one label." Since then, she has discussed her conflicts with her sexuality growing up, specifically around "overthinking" it, and just wanting to "explore" now.
Dove Cameron! You might know her from the titular roles in Liv and Maddie. After being accused of queerbaiting in 2020, Dove came out on an Instagram live and described herself as "super queer."
Confession time: I always forget Bella Thorne started on the Disney show Shake It Up alongside Zendaya. Bella came out as bisexual in 2016 on X (then Twitter), but then said she identifies more as pansexual in 2019.
OK, so technically Rowan Blanchard came out at the same time her Disney show Girl Meets World was on air — like the icon she is — but I couldn't not add her to this list. In 2016, two years into the show, she came out as queer on X.
Garrett Clayton, *that* hunk from Teen Beach Movie (who you might also know from Hairspray Live), announced he was gay in 2018 in an Instagram post. In the same post, he announced he was dating his then-boyfriend, now-husband, writer Blake Knight. How adorable!!
I can't forget about Michael Seater — not just because he's a Canadian legend, but also because he starred in one of the greatest Disney shows ever, Life With Derek. Michael Seater (*the* Derek) is queer. Although we don't know too much about his dating life, we celebrate him anyway (and we love a private king).
Hayley Kiyoko, who you might know from Lemonade Mouth, came out as queer in 2015 through releasing her song called "Girls Like Girls" — four years after starring in the movie. If that isn't the most badass thing you've ever seen, IDK what is. Hayley has been dating Bachelor contestant Becca Tilley for more than 5 years now!
Corey Fogelmanis from Girl Meets World came out as queer in 2020. It was three years after the show ended, and he reportedly made the announcement through an Instagram post for his first LA Pride parade.
Last but not least, we have Matthew Scott Montgomery, who starred in So Random! He explained that "no one" in the cast knew at the time, and described his "very, very conservative" parents' reaction to his coming out as a "nightmare." He even agreed to go to conversion therapy afterward. "You're taught that you deserve to be punished all the time," he said.

Marvel's EYES OF WAKANDA Animated Will Feature Iron Fist, But Not The Netflix Version — GeekTyrant
Marvel Studios is bringing back the Iron Fist character, but before you start thinking this could be a 'Finn Jones Redemption Arc', the Iron Fist showing up in the Eyes of Wakanda anmated series isn't that version of the character. During a panel at the Annecy Animation Festival, director Todd Harris dropped the news while talking about his upcoming animated series. When asked about guest appearances, Harris casually revealed: 'There will be an Iron Fist in here, and not the Iron Fist you expect.' So what does that mean? Are we getting an alternate timeline version? A legacy Iron Fist? A new character entirely who picks up the mantle? It's all speculation for now, but Harris made it clear that Eyes of Wakanda isn't about rehashing what we've already seen: 'It was never my goal to make 'another one,' my goal was to make something new.' The series is set to premiere August 6, 2025 on Disney+, and it's shaping up to be something fresh. The show will consist of four 30-minute episodes, each a standalone story set in different time periods. In the series, Wakandan agents venture out into the wider world to retrieve powerful artifacts stolen from their homeland. Harris described the series as 'mostly a spy story,' one that explores how Wakandan operatives interact with the world while trying to reconcile what they experience with their 'nationalist agenda.' According to Variety, the first episode screened at Annecy was well-received, with early reactions pointing to a strong sense of cultural authenticity, something that's often promised, rarely delivered, and hugely appreciated when it lands right. As for Iron Fist's broader MCU future, fans are still holding out hope. With Daredevil: Born Again now confirmed to bring back Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones in Season 2, it's only natural to wonder if Finn Jones might get another shot too. The actor has made it clear he's more than ready for a comeback. He previously said: 'I'm very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is, 'Give me a f*cking chance, man. I'm here and I'm ready, and I wanna prove people wrong.'' Personally, I think he had his chance and it just didn't work. The question is, will Eyes of Wakanda pave the way for a new Iron Fist in the MCU's multiversal toybox? Or will it be a one-time cameo with a fresh take? Either way, it sounds like Marvel fans should prepare for surprises.

Disney says these images show how Midjourney steals its characters
Disney and NBCUniversal sued the AI company Midjourney, alleging copyright infringement. The lawsuit claims the tech creates unauthorized copies of works ranging from Star Wars to The Simpsons. Hollywood has been cautious about AI, fearing its misuse, but investors see cost-cutting potential. Hollywood is taking aim at the AI image generator Midjourney. On Wednesday, Disney and NBCUniversal's movie studios sued Midjourney, alleging its product ripped off their famous characters in properties ranging from Star Wars to The Simpsons. The media companies use colorful language in their 110-page copyright infringement lawsuit. They argue that Midjourney's tech amounts to a "virtual vending machine, generating endless unauthorized copies of Disney's and Universal's copyrighted works." They call Midjourney "the quintessential copyright free-rider and a bottomless pit of plagiarism." Midjourney didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Many news media companies, including Business Insider's parent Axel Springer, have struck deals with AI companies to help train their models. The film and TV industry, however, has been slower to follow because of worries that the nascent tech will be used to replace their IP and talent. AI has also been a battleground between Hollywood companies and the industry's labor unions. Despite this, investors have poured money into AI companies that are aimed at Hollywood. These startups see the opportunity to use the tech to cut time and costs for making filmed entertainment. This new lawsuit could throw a wrench in some of those plans. Of particular note, Disney and Universal included examples of images created by Midjourney's tools in their suit, side by side with the original source material, to show how close Midjourney's versions are to their characters. The suit describes how when a user gave it a prompt like "Chewbacca, screenshot from movie," Midjourney generated images copying the movie companies' famous characters. According to the suit, a user doesn't have to request a specific Disney character for Midjourney to create one that copies its copyrighted work, giving the example of the prompt "Superhero fight scene" that produced an image that resembled Disney's Spider-Man. Below are some examples they share in the lawsuit. What do you think?

‘Party of Five' alum Scott Wolf says he's divorcing wife Kelley Wolf after 21 years
Kelley Wolf and Scott Wolf are starting new chapters in their life. The 48-year-old 'Real World: New Orleans' alum, who has since become a life coach and podcaster, took to Instagram on June 10 to announce that she and her husband, Scott Wolf, are divorcing. The pair were married for 21 years and share three kids — Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11. 'It is with a heavy heart that Scott and I are moving forward with the dissolution of our marriage,' she wrote in the caption alongside an image of three eagles flying over a female lion. 'This has been a long, quiet journey for me—rooted in hope, patience, and care for our children,' she continued, adding that she won't speak publicly about the details. 'I feel peace knowing that I've done everything I can to walk this path with integrity and compassion,' she added. In his own statement shared with People, Scott Wolf said 'After 21 years of marriage, I have made the most difficult decision of my life, and filed for divorce from my wife Kelley. Our children have always been, and continue to be, the loves of our lives and our every priority, so I kindly ask for privacy at this time as we help guide them through this new chapter.' Kelley Wolf met Scott Wolf, best known for his roles in 'Party of Five,' 'The Nine' and 'Nancy Drew,' in 2002 after she was an hour late to their blind date, according to Us Weekly. The couple tied the knot two years later and welcomed their first child, Jackson, in 2009. Miller was born in 2012 and Lucy followed in 2014. In her June 10 caption, Kelley Wolf praised her estranged husband and revealed what's next. 'Scott Wolf is one of the best fathers I've ever known and one of the best partners a woman could have the privilege of sharing life with. He is kind, thoughtful, funny, and beautiful in spirit,' she wrote. 'We both look forward to an extraordinary life centered around the most extraordinary children,' she added. 'My priority has always been their wellbeing—and my own healing. That will never change.' Kelley Wolf's announcement comes five months after Scott Wolf admitted to troubles in their marriage. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, which took place in January, Scott Wolf opened up about how the two have faced a slew of 'challenges' that have 'changed the way I see happiness.' 'My family's been through some stuff over the past few years,' he told Us Weekly at the time. 'This period of time has been weird for a lot of people. And we sort of got blown in the wind a little bit, moved around a bunch, and [I] watched my children deal with all of that,' he added. In her June 10 Instagram post, Kelley Wolf wrote that she was 'stepping into a chapter of peace, freedom, and protection — with grace.' 'May we all remember: healing isn't loud. It's sacred,' she added. As for Scott Wolf, he last posted about his marriage on Feb. 14 in a Valentine's Day tribute to his wife and daughter. 'To my forever Valentines. You have my whole heart and always will. The most beautiful, kind, wise, brave, powerful people in my life. I love you so very much,' he wrote in the caption. He later posted a cryptic video on May 25 about 'when the heart breaks' and the 'meaning of life.'
