Sabah Tennis Association congratulates Yuna on her victory

Kota Kinabalu: In a stunning display of skill and determination, Sabah's Yuna Koh emerged victorious in the Girls 12 & Under singles category, during the Tennis Malaysia Junior Tour Leg 3 held in Ipoh, Perak from May 19 to 25. Sabah Tennis Association (STA) congratulated the young athlete on her win at the national tournament. Another proud accolade for Sabah's new shining star in the making. From a draw of 32 participants, Yuna had to battle through five matches to reach the top. A first round sweep against Selangor's Naveena Netania 4-0, 4-0, and an encounter with second seeded Kuala Lumpur's Tan Ei Xin 4-0, 4-1, followed by defeating the 6th seeded Reefa Amani of Perlis 6-0, 6-2, and another sweep against third seeded Selangor's Amani Rose 6-0, 6-0, to enter the finals. Defying all odds, the un-ranked player outmatched the defending first seeded Isabella Rihanna of Johor 6-0, 6-1, to take home the gold. STA appreciated the firm effort she made in and off the court. Sabah's Sport Ministry encourages athletes to take part in competitions for the benefit of both Sabah and individually. Achievements such as the grant, the state and the well-earned respect and recognition as a worthy competitor among the Peninsular giants, such as Johor and Selangor.

Keningau Closed Women's Volleyball Championship kicks off

KENINGAU: The Closed Women's Volleyball Championship Trophy in Keningau kicked off at the Keningau District Council Open Futsal Court on Monday with enthusiastic participation from local teams. Liawan Assemblyman Annuar Ayub Aman said the event not only encouraged women's involvement in sports but also strengthened community ties. Advertisement He said the championship as an important platform to discover new talent among female players in the district. 'With consistent training, strong discipline and teamwork, our women athletes can rise to compete at state, national and even international levels,' he said when officiating the event. He emphasised that sports are more than just leisure activities, stressing that they serve as a medium to shape character and identity. 'Through sports, we learn values of discipline, tolerance, patience, leadership and fighting spirit are qualities that must be applied both on and off the court,' he said. Annuar also expressed his appreciation to the organisers for successfully hosting the event, which he said would further ignite the sporting spirit in Keningau. Sabah champs again in Malaysia Prisons 10s Rugby Championship

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Prisons secured their fourth successive title in the Malaysia Prisons 10s Rugby Championship in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan on Monday. They received the Commissioner General Cup from Deputy Commissioner General of Prisons Ahmad Faudzi Awang, after beating Perak Prisons 12-7 in the final. Advertisement In addition, team member TuryBius Bernabas was also named the best forward of the tournament. Other members of the team are Azmir Arzmi, Zorpazli Zohari, Subahi Nurdin, Raymond Sunting, Dick Jeffry, Mohd Arif, Aziziepi Osman, Ag Abd Khalid, Abu Hassan, Constant Joseph, Hamirudin, Leo Asip, Lukemolidu, Andy Maxcieren, Bobby Monsu, Deno Martin, Amirul Fazwan and Adireka Syahiran.
