Warming up for Easter Sunday, few showers graze northern Utah
Not much moisture with it, but there's a small chance we may see a shower near the Utah/Idaho Stateline early this morning. The system moves out quickly, and by this afternoon we're looking at clearing skies and a return of warmer temperatures. Daytime highs will run about 5 degrees above average, putting the Wasatch Front into the mid 60s with St. George seeing upper 70s. Moisture will increase again late tonight into Monday.
Monday kicks off with a weak front, bringing light showers to northern Utah, with the main focus over the northern mountains. Minor snowfall is expected. By the afternoon, the front lifts north and any lingering showers should fade. The valleys will see a few isolated showers with little impact expected. Tuesday looks sunny and dry with a steady westerly flow in place. Temperatures will continue to warm through midweek with highs climbing 5-10 degrees above normal.
On Wednesday, another weak system drops into northern Utah, bringing a chance of showers again to northern Utah. Snow levels will hang around 8000 feet, and we're not expecting much precipitation at this point — the system looks relatively dry.
By Thursday, a bigger trough out in the eastern Pacific starts to shake things up. This will boost southwest flow over the region, pulling in more moisture and kicking up showers, mainly in the northern mountains. Snow levels rise to around 9000 feet, and snow will be light. Meanwhile, valley temps jump into the 70s and 80s…roughly 15 degrees above normal.
There's a chance that active weather could hang on over the weekend as well. Models are still trying to hammer out the details. Stay tuned!

Monsoon moisture lingers before drying out this weekend
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Weekend, Utah! There's a few storms today with gradual drying expected for Sunday. This weekend will start off with lingering monsoon moisture before a drier airmass takes over. On Saturday thunderstorms will still be around, but mainly in higher terrain. The Wasatch Front could see a storm pop up, but nothing too significant. There isn't as much moisture for the storms to tap into, so what rain we do see shouldn't cause too many problems. Flash flooding will be 'Possible' for Bryce Canyon National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, and the San Rafael Swell, but not as high as it has been the past couple days. Things continue drying out into Sunday with only a couple showers possible in the northeast corner of the state. A bit of lingering moisture will bring a mix of sun and clouds, but precipitation does not look very likely in valleys. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s for most valleys, upper 70s to mid 80s for higher terrain, and upper 90s to low 100s for the typically warmer spots. There won't be a whole lot of variation in temperatures from this weekend and into next week, which means we're expecting fairly seasonable temperatures for at least the next few days. On Monday the dry airmass will still be in place and winds are expected to pick up. That's not a great combination for fire danger, which could become critical to start the workweek. The bottom line? A few more thunderstorms on deck to start the weekend, but drier air is moving in. We'll keep you updated in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah! A pleasant, seasonal close to the work week for Utah's weather
SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Friday, Utah! A nice July day ahead for the Wasatch Front with seasonal temperatures in northern and central Utah, with high heat holding steady in southern Utah. You can expect highs in the low 90s along the Wasatch Front and into central Utah, while St. George stays above the average of 102 degrees and makes a run for 106 today. Bottom Line? Average temperatures with sunshine and dry skies for Friday; high heat holds in Southern Utah We will see fire conditions ease slightly with winds relaxing a bit, but dry conditions persist. Our latest drought monitor percentages indicate drought worsening in Utah, with all of the beehive state facing moderate drought, and more than half of Utah now in the severe drought category. Lack of precipitation will continue over the weekend and into next week. Above-average heat will once again build through the weekend and into early next week thanks to high pressure. At last check, there's potential to see triple digits return to the Wasatch Front, and they won't budge in southern Utah for the next seven days. With high heat ahead, you will want to stay on top of the forecast. We'll keep you updated in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
