Vogue Williams knew she was 'making a mistake' when marrying Brain McFadden
Vogue Williams and Brain McFadden were married for three years but the TV presenter knew she was making a mistake long before that - on the morning of her wedding
TV presenter Vogue Williams has revealed she knew on the morning of her wedding to Westlife singer Brain McFadden that she was making a big mistake. Vogue and Brian tied the knot back in 2012, in Florence, Italy.
The former couple met at a nightclub in Dublin the year prior and announced their engagement at the start of 2012. Their marriage didn't last long as three years later, they split up, with their divorce being finalised in 2017.
The Irish podcaster revealed in her new autobiography, Big Mouth, that Brain wasn't " marriage material" despite him being "good fun to be around" the majority of the time. She explained: "The morning of the wedding I felt very stressed and so anxious because deep down I knew I had made a mistake. After the wedding I tried to make things work."
Despite having these thoughts on the day of the wedding, Vogue revealed the marriage wasn't all bad. She stated: "The relationship wasn't all terrible, we did have some great times too, and for the most part he was good fun to be around. But he was not husband material.
"It was me who called it in the end. I couldn't keep trying, it felt pointless… I'm not here to throw anyone under the bus but there are things that went on in our relationship that will never be forgiven."
Additionally, Vogue appeared on The Life of Bryony podcast, hosted by broadcaster Bryony Gordon, earlier this week, confessing that she felt like her "life was over" after her divorce to Brain was finalised.
She opened up, revealing: "I remember being divorced at 31 and thinking, I've ruined my life. I am never going to have kids, I am never going to do what I always wanted to do."
"Then you see how your life actually starts to unfold – that's why it feels exciting to move into your forties," she continued.
Vogue is now with former Made in Chelsea star, Spencer Matthews. They married in June 2018, just months after announcing their engagement, in a secret Scottish wedding. The ceremony took place on the banks of a loch within Spencer's family estate in Glen Affric, Inverness-shire.
At the time, Vogue revealed that it was "the best day of her life." Spencer told Hello! Magazine at the time: "It has gone down by many as the best wedding they've ever been to. It was a family affair in the middle of nowhere and it felt very secluded. We were surrounded by the people we love."
During the wedding, Vogue was seven months pregnant with their first child, Theodore, who arrived in September of 2018. The couple then went on to have two more children - Gigi, four and Otto, two.

The American actor - the star of The Departed, Planet of the Apes and The Italian Job - surprised the trio with a video call, saying their adventure had left him "inspired". Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Eldest brother Ewan Maclean, said receiving a video call from Mark Wahlberg was 'bloody surreal' | Submitted In the video call with Ewan, Jamie, and Lachlan Maclean, Wahlberg praised their mission to row 9,000 miles non-stop and unsupported from Lima, Peru, to Sydney, Australia, raising funds for clean water projects in Madagascar. "I'm so inspired by you guys," Wahlberg told the brothers, who are now 54 days into their row. "You're badasses doing something no one else would even think of. (Left-right) Jamie, Lachlan and Ewan Maclean, three Scottish brothers aiming to become the fastest people to row across the Pacific, have received a surprise video call from Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg, who told them their record-breaking bid "could be a movie". Picture: The Maclean Brothers/PA Wire | PA "This could be a movie. The best films I've done are based on true stories - ordinary people doing extraordinary things. No way I'd row an ocean, but I'd play one of you guys in a movie." As they battle salt sores, relentless weather, a broken watermaker, and a faulty autohelm - with more than 5,000 miles still to go to reach Sydney, and more than £900,000 left to raise towards their £1 million target - the brothers said the call with one of their heroes was a welcome and "surreal" boost. The Perfect Storm star, who is the youngest of nine siblings, shared his own experience of life at sea. On hearing the brothers had a tuna on the line, Wahlberg recalled nights spent sleeping on a tuna boat with squid as a pillow while filming for the true story he starred in alongside George Clooney. "When I was preparing to do The Perfect Storm, I went out on a sword boat - in Ocean City, Maryland, a longliner, and we were actually fishing,' Wahlberg recalled. Wahlberg on going to the 'next level' Wahlberg added: "What you guys are doing is next level. You're living out a sense of purpose - combining passion with impact. That's rare and it's humbling to watch. People need to hear about what you're doing. "I couldn't be more inspired by the grit, the determination, the resiliency. What you guys are doing for such an amazing cause, and how hard you're willing to sacrifice yourself and your own wellbeing for the good of others, is so inspiring. The actor, who owns restaurants in Sydney and the Gold Coast, also promised the brothers a meal at the finish line - a welcome reward after about four months of freeze-dried meals. The record-breaking mission The Macleans expect to spend more than 100 days on board their 28-foot carbon fibre boat, Rose Emily, named in memory of their late sister. With no engine, no sail and no support crew, the siblings row in two-hour shifts, surviving on freeze-dried meals and desalinated water. "It's been much harder than we expected," said Ewan Maclean, 33, who left his job as a Dyson engineer to help design and build the boat. Lachlan, who will turn 28 next week and is the youngest of the trio, added: "We're all operating in such little sleep that we thought it all could have been a hallucination."

Another successful Children's Festival is over
The Edinburgh International Children's Festival has just finished and has already been declared a major success. The festival was attended by 17,000 people which is an 11% increase from last year, with 87% of all tickets sold, and it will be back next year from 30 May to 7 June 2026. The event began with a packed Family Day at the National Museum of Scotland which was free to attend and which 7,460 people attended. This was followed by a week of shows attended by 3,615 pupils from 41 schools including nursery, primary and secondary schools. Festival Director Noel Jordan, said: 'From uplifting productions celebrating the diversity of our global sector and centred around the perspective and viewpoint of the child, to incredible industry panel discussions and provocations, what a fantastic week this has been. As my final Festival I could not have been prouder. With such an incredible and dedicated team behind it I am sure the Festival will continue to go from strength to strength. Thank you to all our audiences, funders, supporters and performers who make this festival such a joyous experience.' The shows included work from 7 different countries and the premiere of new commission Tongue Twister created and performed by Scottish artist Greg Sinclair and commissioned in partnership with Aberdeen Performing Arts. The show which features Greg attempting to say tongue twisters in as many different languages as possible, delighted its audiences with its language antics and gorgeous costumes. 'That was the bestest show in the world!' (child). Tongue Twister is touring to the Light the Blue Festival this weekend in Aberdeen. The Festival also enjoyed a run of the 2024 'must-see' Fringe show The Show for Young Men performed by Robbie Synge and young performer Alfie exploring topical ideas around masculinity and male friendship, and finished on a high with 6 sell-out performances of Double You, a raucous and high energy circus production from Belgium hosted in Portobello Town Hall. As well as families and schools, the Festival welcomed over 310 delegates from festivals and arts organisations in 30 different countries including Australia, Hungary, Thailand and Norway also attended the Festival. The delegate programme provided a platform for programmers, producers and artists to see and discuss high-quality work, share work in progress and network with peers from all over the world. In addition to the delegates who attended in person, 56 more attended the digital delegate programme online. The much-anticipated new commission the Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl which unfortunately was cancelled at the last minute due to a performer injury, plans to open in August for this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the Made in Scotland Showcase. The Edinburgh International Children's Festival will return in 2026 from 30 May to 7 June under new direction, following Noel Jordan's announcement earlier this year that after 10 successful years at the helm, he will be standing down and returning to Australia in November. Pete Wicks savagely mocks Zara McDermott with hilarious sign as he cheers on Sam Thompson
Sam Thompson, who is currently completing a 260 mile Soccer Aid challenge to raise funds for Unicef, was left in stitches as his pal Pete Wicks cheered him on during his third day with a cheeky sign that poked fun at his ex, Zara McDermott. Pete Wicks hilariously mocked Zara McDermott's famous 'you can' moment from Made in Chelsea as he cheered on pal Sam Thompson on his 260 mile Soccer Aid challenge on Wednesday. The I'm A Celeb star who is currently taking part in a 260 mile Soccer Aid Challenge which he must complete either on foot or bike, was surprised by his best mate Pete during the latest segment where he was seen cheering on Sam with a sign that read 'You can do it. You caaan." Pete shouted out the sign's message, which is a reference to a now iconic Made In Chelsea scene where Zara begs for Sam to give her another chance after cheating on him during her time on Celebrity X Factor in 2019. Zara and Sam rekindled, dating for five years before they split at the end of last year. The former Love Island has since swiftly moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. In the hilarious clip shared on the Staying Relevant podcast TikTok page, Pete is seen screaming 'you can!' at Sam as he erupts into fits of laughter while cycling his bike. Pete cheekily captioned the video: "A few words of motivation for Sam.." and purposely imitated Zara's tone of voice she had used when she insisted that Sam could forgive her for her infidelities. Fans in the comments were left in stitches by Pete's hilarious jibe as one wrote: "Hahahaha the shade only Pete can get away with." Another chimed in: "Best sign he could've done", alongside a clapping hands emoji. A third replied: "I would LOVE to see Zara's reaction to this." A fourth exclaimed: "This is too funny! Never should've given her that second chance!!" The joke is sure to sting if Zara spots the clip as she previously spoke about 'You Can' meme on GK Barry's Saving Grace podcast. Speaking about how she's been trolled over the moment, Zara said: "I mean it's really not nice hearing your painful voice because that's me in like a lot of emotional distress. "So like it's kind of like nails on a chalkboard. It's part of the going on a reality show, is living your loveliest moments and darkest moments in the public eye." While Zara has moved on already, Sam is currently challenging himself to complete a mammoth 260 mile journey on both bike and foot to deliver the match ball to its new home in Old Trafford, with the hope of raising much-needed funds for Unicef. Before setting off on Monday, Pete shared a sweet tribute to his pal on Instagram writing: "Tomorrow this man embarks on a mental and physical challenge for an amazing cause @Unicef.' "Mate I couldn't be prouder of you as a friend, a brother and as a man. You are gonna push yourself to the limit and I can't wait to watch you complete this f**king mammoth task. "I know how much work you've put in and I know you're doing it for the right reasons." He added: "Just so you know, you're doing it with every single one of your friends and family right behind you. I hope the nation follows your journey and helps you along the way in donations and support. "You are an inspiration to me and many others and I admire the man you've become this year more than any other year I've known you. Good luck brother, you've got this." To complete the gruelling challenge, Sam must run a marathon for five days and cycle in between, ensuring the ball arrives on June 6, just in time for kickoff on Sunday, June 15. Sam, who sustained a 'significant' calf injury earlier in the week is determined to crack on with the task. He said: "This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I now have to accept that I've done damage to my calf and running is very difficult. "But I can and will carry on, not matter what, on two feet and two pedals, I'm still going to get there and get across the finish line on Friday. It's just going to be longer, harder but my reason for doing it still hasn't changed. "I really hope people are digging deep for UNICEF, seeing what I'm trying to do and are getting behind this challenge." In a potentially awkward overlap, Zara's new love, Louis Tomlinson is one of the celebs who will be participating in Soccer Aid for UNICEF on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Old Trafford.
